is the usual url that LDM uses to give access (you've created two categories, and this is the first entry you've put in the database...) Just to be clear, the problem is happening with an upload? Just this one, or any upload? Do things work ok when you create entries which point to urls rather than being uploads? If you want me to take a look at your site, send me a PM with an admin username and password to your board. |
Andrew, just wanna tell you that the new version works great. upgraded successfully from 2.1.2b and it's working great now! many thanks!
hoping to see the vbbux integration in your new version if you're working on one. |

I know you said you were adding it to the list and this works fine for now! At least I know my page isn't frozen or crashed now. |
When you set new categories have to be moderated and a member add a new category this category is instantly visible and acessable for guests via the drop down list.
And a second problem is, that no emails are send to the administrator if a new link/category is submitted, that must moderated. |
Thank you for your continued efforts developing LDM.
I'm just starting to test LDM again with the 2.2.0 release, so I'm not sure if this has already been implemented or not, but I would like to second the request for a copy/clone category function that includes child categories. For example: Item #1 - with the following sub-categories: a) reviews b) interviews c) news could be cloned to: Item #2 a) reviews b) interviews c) news Quote:

OK, will continue to think about this. |

nope lol and i noticed it doesn't work all the time....the bigger the file then it won't work lol but if i just add links or small files it works great... |
I've got everything set up, but I'm not seeing any way to upload files, I double checked both file and usage permissions, and I'm stuck.
Any advice on things to check? |
Andrew,
Just wanted to say thanks again for such a great hack with so much versatility. It's much appreciated. Ok, so I had a question now that I've complimented you. :) I noticed today that there is no variable set to disallow selection of what category a new link will be placed in. For example, if users want to add a link it's required they be in a category that accepts links. However, if they go into a category that accepts links, they can then select any available category, even if it's closed. Not only is that a fairly large bug/problem, but I was also thinking that there should be a variable to disallow_cat_selection, where if you set it to yes, then whatever category the user is in, is the category that's getting the link. If it's set to no, then the user would get the edit box that they currently get with all the categories, however, the categories that are closed would be omitted from the list. So I guess this isn't a question so much as a bug report and feature request. |

If uploads are enabled, then the 'Add Link' form will have a box on it for selecting the upload . |

have you set up a category to upload to? it won't allow you to upload from the "home" category...you need to create one.
|
Quote:
Yes sir, uploads are enabled, directory has been defined, and directory has permissions for the web server user. |
But have you setup a category in LDM yet?
|
Yep, have one category. I'll try to set another.

That's odd, I defined a new category and the "Link" button popped up, my apologies for the firedrill *** Update *** I've got a few questions - Naturally. 1) How would I go about adding in images/banners to category descriptions? 2) I placed the cpnav_xlinks.xml into my /forums/includes/xml directory, yet I do not see an option in the VB ACP to access it. What have I done wrong here? 3) How can I get rid of "Submitted by", Date, hits, size, display order when viewing entries? |
Hi,
thx for this fine Hack but : After the Update from 2.1.5 to 2.2.0 it tells me that Softwareversion is 2.2.0 and Database is still 2.1.5 . And sure i have overwritten the Productfile. What can i do ? For the Moment i have manually edited the 2.1.5 to 2.2.0 with phpMyAdmin at line "admin". That works but i think there is nothing at Database changed. |

"Submitted by" - take away can_view_names permission hits - take away can_view_hits permission display order - take away can_set_display_order permission For Date and size you would have to edit the template (VB/styles/style manager/edit templates) If you're using the standard layout (outer box with inner box on the right hand side, you would have to edit the links_linkbit template. As example, I attach a modified version of the links_linkbit template without the right nahd box. |
I am getting this error when I try to add an image that is jpg for the link. I have the size set at 100. Any ideas what might be causing this or what I might be doing wrong? I am using the latest version.

Andrew - Thank you very much! This took care of all of those concerns, I just have a final (hopefully!) two questions, and then I'll ride off into the sunset. 1) Is there a way to remove the "enlarge image" expansion button. 2) Is there a way to remove the "add to favorites" button. Thanks in advance! |
You can edit the template to look how you want. Here is my links_linkbit template. Feel free to use it if you like it.

Greg - Thank you very much! I really like the look you achieved, and I really like your vertical menu system, was that a custom hack, or something you received from a third party? |
It's a hack for vBAdvanced. They have a tutorial where you can add blocks to any vB page. Once I installed vBA, did the tutorial, there was a Module that someone wrote for the vertical NavMenu, I rewrote it with what I wanted and how I wanted. So... I guess it's 3rd party customized. I made it's sections collapsable, and made the Forum/Home link a little smarter then the normal one people use:
Using this will generate a warning in IE on the bottom status bar that there is an error on the page, however the "error" is that I left a quote off the first table column lines (in 3 places), I did this because with the quote, it totally screws up how things look and behave, without the quote it's perfect, don't ask me why. This is the line I'm talking about (<td style="cursor:hand" class='alt1' onmouseover="this.className='alt1'" onmouseout="this.className='alt1'>) Notice that the last " is missing. Code:

I also noticed that it didn't align to the top, but that is easy to fix. :) |
