Slapyo 06-24-2004 11:18 PM

i haven't installed this yet, but i have looked around at all the portal software and i like this one the best. my question is ... how hard is it to upgrade vBulletin when a new version of vB comes out, if i have vBindex installed?

Sam FT 06-25-2004 04:55 AM

I am currently trying to code a marquee in a custom block in vbindex. Here is the code I am using so far.

Code:

<script language="javascript" src="buttonfader.js"></script>
<a name= "scrollingCode"></a>
<marquee behavior="scroll" loop="-1" height="300" direction="up"
scrollamount= "2" hspace="0" vspace="0" scrolldelay= "60"
onmouseover='this.stop()' onmouseout='this.start()'>
<center>
<a href="http://www.test.net" target="_blank">
<img src="images/affiliates/test.png" height="31" width="88"
border="0" vspace="3" alt="Test"
onMouseOver="this.filters.alpha.opacity='100'"
onMouseOut="this.filters.alpha.opacity='40'"
style="filter:alpha(opacity=40);-moz-opacity:40%;"></a>
</center>
</marquee>

In IE is looks fine no problem, but in firefox it won't work. So I try to taking out code the first two lines. Still in firefox it won't scroll, until I take out the height part then it works somewhat. But now my block in height is small. Can anybody give me some tips or tell me what I am doing wrong here.

Hi NTLDR, do you have any vision as to when this will be incorporated in to vbindex, how much would you charge me to change the code so I can have this function on my site

Look forward to your response

vBindex doesn't change any vBulletin files, thus when it comes to upgrading having this hack installed won't slow the process down.

All I can say is that I will be adding it in the future, as for when that depends when I've got time to do it.

Help NTLDR!
New vB3.01 install (working fine)

I uploaded the files as directed, but the vbiupgrade.php yields:

Code:

Warning: main(./admincp/functions_vbiupgrade.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Inetpub\HostedWebSites\faithcomm\forums\admincp\vbiupgrade.php on line 57

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './admincp/functions_vbiupgrade.php' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in C:\Inetpub\HostedWebSites\faithcomm\forums\admincp\vbiupgrade.php on line 57

I searched but couldn't find a similar problem.
Sorry if this is a stupid error... you are my hero, after all! :)

marc_t 06-29-2004 08:10 PM

Hi,

I installed this hack. But somehow I have to do every change in the options twice to have it. First time the options load again without any change :(

Any idea what this could be? Maybe problems with Safari?

Thanks,
marc

Make sure you have uploaded all the files to the correct directories and that the Admin CP directory name in vBulletin's config.php is set correctly.

How can I speed up the hack a bit. It takes about 5 Sekonds until it loads without alot of queries... (If you wanna check: plopp )

Thanks for any help,
marc

Sorry if this has been asked, but I did glance some of the posts....

The install was a breeze, and the main page looks great! It lists the latest posts, who's online etc...

The poll comes up, However, when I goto vote in a poll it redirects me to the "invalid thread" message. Did I miss something?

Thanks in advance, this is a great h4X0r. :D

Wonderful Portal!
I'm going to install this on my site tomorrow when I should be working, at the office :rolleyes:

I'll give feedback once it's up and running.
Thanks for the great work you are doing with this code.

Is this portal includes 'notes' column in database ?

Question re: the copyright in the footer..

I don't like this bit: MMII - MMIV
Can I change it to numbers, like my copyright and vB's? To make things look the same.

If so, where do I go to change this,
Thanks,
KA

It's in the phrase vbi_copyright .

shacky01 07-03-2004 12:58 AM

Greetings,
I'm getting a parse error when I add the line of code to allow edits from the admincp... When I load the admincp index.php I get this msg:

Code:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/jmikes-w/public_html/board/admincp/index.php on line 660
Can anyone paste a section of code from their admincp index where they added the cp code, before and after it? I think I'm adding it correctly, but ya never know :)

Thanks,
Shacky

shacky01 07-03-2004 02:40 AM

Ok, forget last post...

Of all things, my ftp program messed up the downloaded file... Redid, all is well :)

Well I just changed that, and it still says MM MMIV
Is that the correct phase to edit?

Hi do you have the php/queries hack installed to show you how many queries you are running ? If not then i would highly recommend that you install this hack to find it out. I would assume that you run some queries which are taking a loooong time.

Cheers,

marc_t 07-04-2004 09:44 PM

But I have got no Problems with the forum itself. So the certain queries could only run in the vbindex, or am i wrong?

Thanks,
marc

I do not talk about your forum. You can place the variable to show your performance queries on the index portal as well. And yes, there are some queries which are not on the forum home.

Cheers,

Does vBindex work with 3.0.2? I am waiting to upgrade until I know. I would suggest you all apply the patch for the minor security update until we know.

LordSoth 07-05-2004 07:50 AM

Hi this is probably a real newbie problem but here I go:

When I go to www.mydomain.com it takes me to a login page with this message
vBulletin Message

You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1) You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
2)You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
3)If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

If I login i get a wrong page message, which I assume is something on my server. What did I do wrong?

Thank-you for the help
Joe.

Without seeing the debug output to see where the time is being spent its not easy to say what the problem is.

There is no reason it shouldn't wotk with 3.0.2/3.

Because you don't allow guest viewing you need to edit the STANDARD_ERROR template I think to edit the path to login.php to point to $vboptions[bburl]/login.php

ImportPassion 07-05-2004 02:41 PM

some ppl just made me aware that the center threads are using a .core extension instead of .php. I did a search and it comes up it other areas like calendar as well.

good thing for the search and replace.

NTLDR 07-05-2004 02:44 PM

There were two links (IIRC) that didn't had .core and not $ext/.php which were detailed quite a few pages back.

Is it possible to have includes in dynamic php pages?

Limpkinw 07-06-2004 07:13 PM

I like this Index however the main reason im not wanting to install is because I desire a right side bar that is constant, like vbportal offers....is this possible?

No, it would add too much strain on the server performing extra queries on every vB page to get the contents for the side blocks.

ImportPassion 07-08-2004 05:14 PM

ya, i followed that. it is very general that tutorial tho. i got the includes working tho. but I can't post to it, so I don't know if that is a limitation with this or not?

NTLDR 07-09-2004 09:13 AM

What do you mean by "post to it"?

ImportPassion 07-09-2004 09:56 AM

i have a form that needs to send values to that dynamic page.

NTLDR 07-09-2004 11:04 AM

I can't see why it wouldn't work provided A) your HTML is correct, B) your accessing the $_POST variables correctly and C) your not using any variables that maybe overwritten by vBindex.
