I'm running 4.1.10

Change the amount of links that may be posted in the AdminCP It's called Auto-Moderation URL count: Also you may move new members to regular members quicker in the settings if you like.

These are my settings. After looking them over a few times it appears to me everything is set right. I must be over looking something.

Thank you

Auto-Moderation: URL Count - 0

Change that setting to the allowed number of URL's they can post.

I changed this to one. I had this set to zero only because we didn't want any new users posting links.

tony,
Try reducing this: Auto-Moderation: Minimum Post Count- 6 Maybe set it to a 2. Then after they make two post they can post links. That will at least give you the opportunity to see if they are posting good or bad information. If that is the case and the number of post to be moderated is 2, then they will be moved into the Registered Members area and be able to post links. If that is the case and what you want to do, then change the number of links back to 0.

Just remember that not bots, but people that are posting information will make a good post at least once. You have to watch out for signatures, so turn them off for newbies.

berryracer,
SOM allows you to create a new user group for your newbies before they are part of the forum. Read about it here: Link to GlowHost

They tell you step by step how to create the new user group that the new members are placed in for SOM to moderate. After the moderation of SOM they are moved to the next usergroup where vB takes over.

I hope that gives you a little better understanding.

Liquid Shock Ga 04-10-2012 03:33 PM

works great, already stopped several spammers from signing up.

xmachine 04-10-2012 10:10 PM

Stops my forum getting 50 spam bots a day (from China). Couldn't work without it!

robert garrett 04-11-2012 04:13 AM

I'm really liking this one

Glockie 04-11-2012 04:16 PM

Been using this for a while now and I must say, it's very impressive. I'm getting regular emails and it works a peach.

I do however, have a problem; the Spam-O-Matic statistics no longer update, so I am concerned if anything is wrong.

Any ideas as to what I can do about this?
These are the stats that display on forum home page.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, I think I realise what's happened here, I also have 'Stop the Registration Bots' and I think the two are clashing.
I've since disabled it and will see how it goes!

Hello. I was told to ask you guys "what to do" from Wayne Luke over at VB Tech support.
OK. New users are not showing up as "Users to be modified" any longer.

The same six "users that need to be modified" are always there.
The newest users show up in the "user" section, but don't show up in the Control panel to alert me. Wayne told me it was Glowhost issue. He could not find any other problems.

So.
I have the latest mod, 2.0.2, and so that can't be it...
do you have any ideas?

Truly appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, I think the only thing you can do to stop that is to use the Newbie Group feature and remove blog posting permissions from it. It drives me nuts as well.

I haven't seen any settings for this, and no replies about it either (that I could find via search).

Is there a way to send detailed reports to the board admin e-mail every time a user is blocked from doing something? Thanks.

you wont want that - even sites that arent busy can log hundreds of attempts a day some days

just look in the logs on admincp

Considering I posted about it, I am fully aware how many e-mails it could generate. I want what I want, please don't tell me what I don't want :)

since update to 4.1.11 patch level 1 we have problem with this plugin , the moderator's option to which shall delete all users posts seems not work properly

it mark the user, claims report it to stopforumspam etc.

the user gets banned but (banned group seems weird)
yet associated posts aren't removed etc.

when i use manual moderator ban then put's the users into correct usergroup

the number setting of banned usergroup ID is correct in SOM's settings

Thanks, I went ahead and installed it as well. I had an issue with having to hack the xml to fix mysql table create error. I read the solution elsewhere in this thread. It works great and I am looking forward to using it.

Thanks for all that valuable information that you just shared with us!! If we do not know what the error is then we can not help you fix it. Did you read the thread? There are a number of places where we have helped people with errors.

you know, it's mods that do sneaky things like this that give authors a bad name.. I disabled or minimized all the settings for 'credits' in the options.. Yet, unknown to anyone setting those visible options, when a moderator actually uses this mod, a HUGE advertisement with a graphic and coupon code and referral link is presented to them to start their own vbulletin board/forum using your hosting... Shameless....

I'm on the fence about this, it's an internal message that only moderators will see. This is a free mod, that boy does help when fighting spam, and is almost necessary.

Giving you the optional ability to remove credits in the footer is something other authors don't do.

So I wasn't hurt by it, what ticks me off are straight out advertisements stuck in my footer by authors, that kinda stuff is nuts (which this mod doesn't do)

fly 04-27-2012 10:20 PM

You're always welcome to make your own. If you don't want to put your advertising it, let me know when you post it.
