Ok, you have access.

On April 4th, I put this up, and it works fine if you right-click save as:
http://www.limmac.org/vb/local_links...id=3&linkid=76

On that same day I put this up, and it doesn't work right if you right-click save as:
http://www.limmac.org/vb/local_links...id=3&linkid=80

OK, I see. I'll need to think about this.

Now is limit defined from VBulletin.

There are two types of limit for uploads:

a) Some come from VB, from the attachments table, per filetype
b) Some come from PHP

I can adjust LDM so that admins can override the VB settings but not the php settings.

Let me know if this is what you mean.

thanks Andrew. :)

I sent you a PM about this...but it seems now that the avatar issue only works for custom avatars, but if someone has a "standard" one its still broken. :/ dunno if that's just me.

andrewd ... not sure what this is... well i know what it is i just don't understand why.... i moved a folder to another category and ever since i get this error...

Database error in vBulletin 3.5.4:

now the downloaders are telling me they download without a problem....which is what i don't understand. can you possibly shed some light on it?

tnguy3n 04-08-2006 02:54 PM

from what I see, nothing is wrong with the query. The message you see is probably because your mysql server was down at the time you sent the request.

Tyegurl 04-08-2006 09:47 PM

ty tnguy3n

secondly now....

is there anyway to integrate this gif when uploading or downloading instead of just seeing the page?

Having a progress bar with uploads is a real pain to get to work correctly.

With downloads, there are also some funny tricks that one has to watch out for, so if it's ok, I'll simply put this on the list...

Thanks anyway

Tyegurl 04-09-2006 12:09 PM

yep np i was just curious....i hate looking at the page and wondering.....my ie progress bar only moves so far b4 it stops and i start crossing my fingers....

Bug: Auto-Create Thread Plugin...

Only works if I don't specify a category ID in the array() statement. If I specify categories it never works.

I've tried this on my PC and it seems to work just fine.

Are you remembering to specify an associated forum when you add the entry?

|oR|Greg 04-13-2006 07:38 PM

Try it on my forums... add a link to the Video\Clips part of LDM, and specify it to post a thread to the Rides forum. It won't work. I have specified the necessary CATID in the ARRAY variable. Then if you take the CATID's out of the array, and make a new link in the same manner, it DOES work.

Bhuwan 04-13-2006 11:55 PM

I made a hack for LDM 2.1.6RC2 that makes the links more SEO friendly (category-name-here/lnk-name-here-id.html) ... i wil release it once this bad boy goes final :)

shiva 04-14-2006 07:19 AM

Yeah!

I will be all over this myself. I have a new server shortly, so busy getting ready, but expect a few questions as well, as I would like a way to display cat listings automatically (without certain bits) as a module on a news page for VBa

Nice work as always. :)

Section 4.6 of the on-line manual explains the Jukebox. As far as I know, it only works with users running Windows (I don't use Linux, etc, myself, so can't tell). It doesn't matter what the web server is running on.

You need to set some admin settings and permissions, and then the little filetype icon to the left of the entry name in the linkbit turns into a 'play me' icon for appropriate filetypes. Click this and a new window is launched, running an embedded Windows Media Player, RealPlayer or QuickTime player.

Hi there,

i have a new forum and so i installed the new version of LDM (2.1.0) and when importing the product the following message occures:

Warnung: Wrong parameter count for php_uname() in /includes/local_links_init.php (Zeile 50)

Anybody knows something about this problem?

Thx
Lee

btw.: the code in local_links_init.php is

PHP Code:

48// Buffer size used for fread()'s -
49// On Windows-based servers, increase *substantially*
50: if (strcasecmp(substr(php_uname('s'),0,3),'win')==0) {
51:    define('READ_BUFFER'256000);
52: } else {
53:    define('READ_BUFFER'32000);
54: }

Which version of php are you running? I see a message on php.net saying that version 4.1.2 returns this warning message (incorrectly). The solution is to put a '@' character immediately before php_uname, i.e. @php_uname('s')

LeeWicKeD 04-15-2006 07:37 PM

Seems to work without any issues! Thank you very much...should be added to the FAQ :)

I am also getting that error message in my mail quite frequently. Seems that it is affecting hit recording.
I checked it out today and after i downloaded 4 files it showed that i made 2 hits. Then i checked my mail and i had two of those error mails with my username...

I'm also having another problem. I have restricted the daily download for registered users to a maximum of 5 files yet i can see people having accessed more than 5 files in the last 24 hrs...
For example there is a user who has had 6 hits in the last 24 hrs. All of those 6 hits happend within a 10 minute time frame.

EDIT:
I just got another mail:

btw the jukebox you have works much better than the vJukebox....not as many problems with uploading and playing the files ;) tyvm

This SQL squery is a check to see if the same user has made a hit on the same entry within the last few seconds. It's made to prevent double counting if, for example, the user 'double clicks' the url. So most of the time it should not return anything. I will need to investigate why it is generating database errors. However, you should be able to disable the message (and check) by setting the admin value timeout_hit_recording to zero.

Are all your entries 'downloads' (in the sense that LDM uses - i.e. they have filetypes that appear in the VB attachments table) or are there also some entries which have filetypes that are not in the mimetypes table?

Assuming everything is working ok, LDM *only* places daily limits on the first group, not on the second.

There is a second possibility, since you mention that the hits are in quick succession. Each 'hit' is only recorded when it completes, consequently if a user starts multiple downloads in quick succession, then she may be able to bypass the daily limits. If necessary, we might be able to find ways to prevent that occurring.

Please confirm - I will check the code in more detail if necessary.

Yes, all my downloads are .zip files, so it seems the second possibility is correct. But i guess i can live with that.

Oh, and if it helps, i am using php 4.4.2 and mysql 5.0.15

I'm looking for something so my users can post files that will automatically expire after x number of days. Sort of like a local yousendit.

I saw that there's something like this in administration, is this sort of setup available and does anyone have it running on a board so I can see how it works?

Thanks,

rob

In the current code, the admin is given an easy way to select entries submitted more than N days ago, see an indication of when these were last 'hit', then easily prune them from the database. It is more a 'facilitated manual delete' rather than an 'autodelete' feature, although I don't think it would be hard to write a plugin to do this.

Ya this would be fantastic. If I could set a certain user class to be able to upload files that would be deleted after x number of downloads and / or y number days.

Andrew, 2.2.0 works great, along with the thread creation. Thanks.

AndrewD 04-18-2006 05:44 PM

Based on the responses received in the last few days, I think that we should treat 2.2.0 as the new official release, so it's recorded as such in the first post in this thread.

Please note that, after upgrading, you will need to reinstall any of the LDM optional plugins from the extras subdirectory.

Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Consolidates all changes/fixes since 2.1.0

I would very much welcome some help with completing the translation of the phrase files into French, German and Spanish. I'm attaching these to this post. The official release contains partial translations.

|oR|Greg 04-18-2006 05:52 PM

Oh I forgot to mention, the upgrade wiped out my custom linkbit template somehow... I had to recreate the template. So, a word to the wise if you use custom templates for displaying your content, backup the code!

* Installed *

Andrew, attached you'll find the translated german phrases for LDM 2.2.0.

I've retranslated all phrases from the beginning (based on the original XML from 2.2.0 beta) and not used the provided german translation before... This is because I use only "German- formal SIE" and not the "Du" version.

XML should work for most users.

Rob, the 2.2.0 release includes a trial cron job that you can easily edit (two minor changes) to achieve what you want. Take a look in the /extras/prune-expiredlinks subdirectory of the zip.
