My cb always refesh mess -> Mess can not show. Help me !!!!!!!

As it happens, i do read the first and last few pages of a mod. However, i obviously overlooked or misread ur post. Thanx for clarifying that you can't though. Your comment about it being better to have a private forum than a chatbox is wrong, or at least in my case it is. Can you imagine trying to hold a conversation/meeting with 20 mods/staff in a forum...it would be mayhem. Therefore a chatbox is more suitable in cases like this. Also, there was no need to be condescending, a simple "no" would suffice.

Not meant to be condescending. In fact, vb.org staff often repeats that you should read the ENTIRE thread before you install a mod. Hey - some don't work at all, and if you don't read back a few pages you won't know that.

Gotta disagree 180 degrees about a chatbox being less mayhem than a forum. A forum allows people to weigh in at their leisure and keeps a record of what everyone says for posterity. A chatbox demands you be present and cannot be referred to in the future. I can't imagine how you get 20 mods to come to a chatbox meeting all at the same time, but I'm envious. Is there a secret?

Help yourself first. Go to the upper right and select "Search this Mod". A quick search for the word "refreshing" shows some other people have solved the problem. e.g. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....postcount=1394 (and of course his next post where he says he solved it and how).

Yes, go to Archive and use Delete All in the CB menu.

I have a dark colored theme and the submitted text in the message area is also dark. Where can I change that text color? Can't read submitted messages.

How do i change the background of the chatbox?

What I wanted to do was a half transparant background in the chatbox, so that you can still see the image of the forum AND read the text.

when I use it with firefox it works great. But when i use it on Internet Explorer get red x's instead of new and over the smilies. any ideas? thanks

Is it a really old version of Internet Explorer? As I recall IE 6 and possibly 7 couldn't properly display PNG graphic files without a Javascript hack.

im having the same type of problem. works only on firefox for me. internet explorer shows red X's and on my phone shows what you have.

right click the red X and see what image it's looking for and the path.. and then add the missing images..

firefox will not show the red X only IE

but your images are missing..

I am using chrome never try on firefox.

Just use any images you like, name them post_old.gif and post_new.gif and put them there.

unfortunately i have no clue how to do any of that. I think I need a Mod book for dummies.

The bigger question is: What are you doing wrong that it's even looking for those old files? VB changed them to .png a long time ago. I suspect you haven't updated something. i.e., I don't have post_old.gif either, only post_old.png.

I am currently running Version 4.1.2. Only happens in internet explorer.

Don't worry, when I started, I too didn't know anything. But you'll learn that over time. Basically you need to FTP them to your directory. Or use those with png extension and just copy them, but this time with gif extension (it works).

If you installed vBulletin yourself, you at least know hot to FTP something. It's like working with directories on your HDD, but just on different server. If you don't know how to use FTP, please learn, but it's very easy. As I said, just like working with files on your disk (but you need program for FTP).

Actually, the mod (at least Advanced Forum Statistics from Valter too) still uses hard coded files. I don't use anymore his chat, but I use Advanced Statistics. I have them as I upgraded from vB3, maybe old versions of vB4 used gif? I know for sure that new (4.1.2 I'm using now) version uses png

Oops, you are correct. I made the mistake of looking at my local vb4 folder, and vb4 no longer comes with any .gif files. But on my site I have preserved the old .gif files so I never noticed an issue.

I suppose it might be easiest for new installers to just edit the .xml file and globally replace .gif with .png. Um no, I see the xml references a "separator.gif" also which I see is still included with vb4 and has not been changed to .png. Confusing.

This works really well and I am very pleased with it but since installing it yesterday my max users online ever on my new site has risen from 37 to 160 almost instantly.

All of the new visitors seem to be reading the chatbox archive.

I checked the IPs and they appear to be random users from all over the world but websites like mine do not just magically create an additional 120 users after installing one program. So there is something wrong here.

It's much easier to copy png files to needed gif files. If you rename image file just to have right extension (png becomes gif), mod will use them, as it just looks for this exact name (with gif extension). It doesn't matter what format image really is, everything will work fine.

Facebook login guys can not see it?
When people login as new user via facebook!
They can not see the chatbox although they are registered under registered users!

I have got few groups on my forum. I try to unable to edit messages to all users except moderators. But my moderators are in 3 groups (Group1 - primary, Group2,Group3 - others). I would like to allow to edit post if someone has Group1 as primary and not allowed if someone has Group2 or Group3 as primary. But when I did it, I have go strange problem. When I try to edit its OK, but when I want to save it in chatbox my forum home page appears. When I remove Groups2 and Groups3 from "unable to edit messages" everything is OK.

Any ideas how to fix it?

I love this (all your other) hack but there is one thing wrong with it.

Usergroups NOT able to view ChatBox (comma separated ID list)
I would like this to be: Usergroups ABLE to view ChatBox (comma separated ID list)

Can this be changed? I only want the chat to be visible for the moderators and I have a lot of other usergroups. :)

I believe the Stylevar named "blockrow_background" is the one that impacts the background color for Chatbox VSA.

We are broadcasting our sim races on our CMS pages. I would love to use the VSA chat in that area (see here for demo).

Does anybody know how to make it work on CMS pages?

for some reason even if you remove the Show ChatBox on pages (comma separated THIS_SCRIPT locations option it still will not show in the CMS..
