Looking to upgrade to VB4 but could not find this mod available for 4. Is there another mod/feature that replaces this mod in VB4 or its just not yet available?
NM.. found it... AME3 - Auto Media Embeding and Video Extender |

Once again, THANK YOU very much for the link, article, and assistance BOP.
|
I have replaced the YouTube regular expression on my site with the following code:
Code:
[http://]*[a-z]*?[\.]?youtube\.[a-z]*?/watch\?[&\w;=\+_\-]*\bv=([A-Z0-9._%-]*)[&\w;=\+_\-]* http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...ded&v=video_id And when users enter such a URL with the default embed code, this link doesn't work because of the extra parameter before the "v". With the above code it works though. |
Just upgraded to 4.2 - Anyone know how do I fix all the threads now?
Do i have to go through every single one and edit them? |
Sorry for sounding like a n00b but I just installed this mod on my forum...
1) I don't know how to get my youtube videos to embed on my forum? 2) This mod seems complex... how can I optimize it? to a) not bog down my forum in the future and b) keep things running smoothly overall. Sorry I don't have time to read 110 pages! |
It's not complex, and was actually designed to run lighter than BBCode. But the default definitions are not up to date. My thread is linked in the add-on section above. They're not entirely up-to-date either, but the YouTube definition in that thread should still work just fine. You don't need to read the entire thread. But the first few posts of both The Geek's and my thread can be pretty helpful. My FAQ is also just a bit more current.
|
Thanks for the reply.... sorry for sounding like a n00b... I just don't wanna mess anything up.
My main reason for putting this on my forum is to embed youtube videos. All I need to do (after I install AME) is to upload your XML defintion in the settings and that will allow me to embed youtube videos? |
Import the XML using the AME CP in your Admin CP. You'll be presented with a big list of definitions, but there are two YouTube definitions (alphabetically) towards the bottom. Be sure to check my FAQ first for a list of common problems when doing that for the first time.
|
Also posted in my definitions thread, but wanted to catch everyone's attention. Anyone think they'd be interested in a definition that embeds the ten newest Pins on a Pinterest board?
|
Yes that would be good
|
Hi there!
I forogot how to remove frame for embed videos and I cant find it anymore in this thread. Can someone guide me? |

EDIT: Found it. Thx! |
YouTube seems to be using all HTTPS urls now. This has broken my YouTube definition. Do I just edit the definition in the CP? If so, what's the correct edit?
Thanks |

Right now I changed the definition to HTTPS from HTTP and it's still working for both. I'm not sure how and I doubt it's correct. |
Http and https don't matter really in linking videos. Just use http and its just fine.

When it's set to HTTP all Video embeds that have a HTTPS URL are turned into links. So, I'm not sure why you think that is "just fine." |

I'm only asking because I spent a good while looking into your mods/threads and the first posts of same looking for what might be a link to "one of the add-ons" and just didn't find anything that seemed to be what you are describing. I sure appreciate it. Thanks |

Oh, I get it. You are saying I need to use your definition mod to get the correct definition.
Thanks |

I've been working with RegExes for sometime now, and I still think, for images, BBCode is better. This is mainly for videos and things BBCode can't handle without getting complicated. |
Any chance of twitter being added to this?

this plugin sucks!
I installed it and rebuilt my cache and URLs and all my previous YouTube links still show as links with no videos uninstalling this right away |

At some point before proclaiming "this plugin sucks" you should question maybe you did something wrong... It's a good life lesson, not just for this forum. ;) |
So.... On new install this doesn't work at all. What am I missing?
EDIT: It is picking up and embedding only new links, ignoring the old ones. Any ideas? |

This not only fixed every link, it went ALL the way back to get them ALL, not just the 1 year it said in the settings! I'm all set now, marked installed. Great Mod. |
I can't find it in the search, but installed and it broke my CSS.. All I have is blank text forum now. ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

It SEEMED to be doing this to me at first install, but I noticed it was only in some styles, not all.... But after I cleared cache all was well. Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Are all of your styles this way now? Also, look in AME CP at "Default Zone Settings" and where it says "container" make that field blank. See what that does. You can always put it back. |

If he is running a vB4 why does he need AME, isn't something very close to it already native to vB4? |
