I'm really diggin' the chat usage from my users however, besides the ability to force a sound on the other end - a more useful oddity unrelated to the actual function of a chat would be a smilie chooser for those of us idiots that have in excess of 500 smilies...

Could the Showsmiles function potentially display categorically like the smilies manager... (Number per page per selected group) or something?

Sorry :erm:

I would never make the mistake of installing this again. I am stuck with it installed, even though i am not using it, as i uninstall the product, delete the files and STILL i can't edit my usergroups. I had to reinstall it all again to be able to edit my usergroups.

Hi there. That's such a shame as it's been a decent mod. I've had tons of luck going into the Admin area, locating Plug-ins & Products and selecting Plug In Manager. Once there, I set everything (really, everything) to inactive and begin turning on one element at a time leaving my suspect program until last. (It helps to have another window open to refresh and attempt minor usergroup changes with)

Eventually, you'll locate the exact hook and I think you'll be good to go after you get it to that point.

(Sorry for intruding, just know how you feel!)

I'm guessin' you're referring to the Smilie Categorization question?

Just installed the Smiley Category Hack for the primary display within the message editor and it performs perfectly however, I'm not so sure it would be a simple feat to accomplish the same task with the chat popup..

Well, "simple" being a term apparently relative only to my experience...

Ranger187 06-13-2008 10:52 PM

I was talking to Mum.

And it's up to VBdev as for the smilies. It should be an addon, not a base feature.

No doubt. It's nothing to do with the actual chat function but they're having a good time with it.. and the smilies make it a tad funny to watch too.. Thx

Hum, perhaps you should consider reading the vBulletin documentation :)

Importing a mod is one of vBulletin basis so you should really start with it before doing anything with your board.

Take some time in it.. Are you sure it is french? Have you "set the default language" on the forums set to English? Also, make sure you check the general options for the "chat display" what you always see as text when you want to enter something within the chat box.. It is normally French, but you have to set your own text in English.

I have another bug report though as well. When you use the /me command in another channel (outside the main channel), the text of the /me command shows up in the main channel rather than the channel you used the /me command in. Maybe you should look in to it. And please also check out my other 2 bug reports that I replied in my second previous post at the previous page. (110).

thanks a lot

but I need a cannale script for usergroups

BozzaJos 06-15-2008 12:00 PM

Hey VBDev,

I've got a slight problem with the shoutbox. I've updated my shoutbox (0.3.0) to 0.4.0 but now my Team Channel is gone. Normally, it showed two icons at the left (General and Team) but now there isn't a single icon. Do you perhaps know how to fix this? I need my Team Channel back lol. I upgraded all the commands (except Announcement and Team since they haven't been upgraded) and even deleted and re-added the Team Channel but it didn't help.

Can you please help me with this problem? We are using the Team Channel a lot since my site is pretty big and we talk a lot about bad posts on the forums and bad behavior in the shoutbox.

Thanks in advance mate. Appreciate it...

Sorry :erm:

I already doesn't have much time to work on the chatbox and thus will not take time on such features, I am sorry about that.

I have never said it should work that way ;). The commands in the chatbox are for the general channel.

This is perhaps not very good but the way I coded the chatbox, a channel corresponds to a command and thus only one command is usable in the channel.

I should certainly rewrite the chatbox code so that channels and commands are not related to each others. This would allow the commands to be used in every channels. But currently I don't have a lot of time to do that. I will see in the coming month. About your other bug reports, they are perhaps certainly listed in the bug list here ? Or I perhaps have already answered you. If not then I am sorry but I don't have the same number of posts displayed by page and I won't get through all the posts to find yours, the problem of this forum is that having only one thread for the support lacks of visibility :/

1), Swear filter can be bypassed with the /me command. If you for example have "awesome" within in the filter to change it to *****, so:

Would change to

Within the chat. But if you combine it with /me is awesome, it shows "Skyrider is awesome" <-- its not filtering it.

2), It seems that the /show ban command is only working on fully admins, supers and moderators. If I select that other usergroups can ban, it works fine. But it seems they do not have access to the /show ban command at all. If that usergroup attempts to do so, they are getting that:

and

You might say "The usergroup does not have ban rights", which I'm afraid is not the case.. When I use the /ban on uname Skyrider command from that usergroup (not admin, super or mod) it says "The user was successfully banned"

Ok I'll look into the 1st bug.

I don't understand what you mean for the 2nd bug.

jim6763nva 06-15-2008 01:45 PM

Ok, in my moment of being very tired lastnight, I think I may have posted an issue I was having with this in the wrong forum. lol :o

I've installed this addon on two other sites with no problems till yesterday on the third site I run into where the "Loading..." won't go away. I've also added that temporary "fix" in the javascript, but that doesn't show any kind of error either to point me in the right direction. I was wondering where I go from here with this?

Thanks in advance!

Which vBulletin version are you running ?

g0dfather1984 06-15-2008 05:04 PM

When I try running this mod, I get this notice on my webpage:

Please help. 3 of the computers I have all work fine with this mod. However, one computer, running the latest version of Internet Explorer 7, won't work correctly - the chatbox just says "Loading..." all the time. But this computer looks to be configured like my others. Same thing is happening for one of my users. But most users it works fine.

Is there a setting I can look for or something that may prevent it from loading?

Thanks in advance.

FYI, my site is here if you want to see it: http://www.clutchfitness.com

And I'm running vb3.7.1 PL1

Please look at the message it's pretty clear. It's saying that the file wasn't found.

So I think you haven't uploaded the chatbox files correctly and thus it gives you this error. You should have a file called functions_mgc_cb_evo.php in your includes directory.

Any error fired in IE ?

jim6763nva 06-15-2008 08:09 PM

Not sure what the problem was (was getting the "loading..." message continually) but I uninstalled the addon as per the instructions file, and reinstalled. It seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for this addon - I love it! :D

Alright, I got er' installed. Now, it just states loading all the time. I tried the above advice about uninstalling it and reinstalling but still the same thing.

VBDev 06-15-2008 09:17 PM

Which vB version do you run ?

g0dfather1984 06-15-2008 09:20 PM

3.71, if you meant me.

Ranger187 06-15-2008 09:30 PM

Uninstalling and reinstalling for the loading issue won't fix it. It might be that .js edit that people are doing? Any errors in Firefox console?

No sir - not that I could find.

I'm no developer so I don't know how AJAX or some of this other stuff works. I was wondering if there is some kind of update or plug-in or something we could check into. It is working on 90% of the users I've talked to, but now just two cases don't work and say "loading." So I'm pretty sure the install is right.

Why not make it that we can see it without having to sign up? I have IE 7, IE8 and FireFox 3 waiting to check.

Oh, I'm sorry. I'll change it right now for you guys. Let me know when done so I can change it back. :)

Just tested with IE8, IE7 and FireFox 3.0 RC something... Worked.

Thanks again for checking. I guess I won't worry about it. Sounds like for the majority of the population, it's working fine. :)

One thing I've noticed lately... the popup from the chatbox that gives you all the options for each user is going behind things and looks funny... does anyone have a fix for that?

Here you go... one of them is of a new thread being created. The popup goes behind some of the controls on the form.

The other is a work in progress with a tabbed forum home, but you can clearly see it going behind the tabs.
