How do you stop youtube from autoplaying. A member has figured out a way to make youtube videos auto play and its very annoying. I only have AME embedding and nothing else. He seems to have added code to the end of the video URL. Heres an example of the url as it looks.

Try adding &autoplay=0 to the end of the youtube URL in the embed code.

note- you will have to edit/resave the post to test the change.

That did not work. Im not trying to disable these links one at a time. Im trying to make it impossible to autoplay youtube videos on my site.

It looks like by adding %26%61%75%74%6F%70%6C%61%79%3D%31 to the end of the youtube URL that autoplay is set to 1


I found that here....now how can I stop it? Maybe using the censor feature to change it?

UPDATE: Using the censor worked. censoring that long string out killed the autoplay.

How about just banning any users that use autoplay? (Obviously make an announcement first.)

I'm installing this on my board. I have a very large board. Its been trying to "Importing Product, Please Wait..." for the last 3 hours. Is it normal for this part of the process to take so long?

It may have timed out... You should probably close your forum before importing this product- especially on a large forum. It has to make changes to the post table so if you have millions of posts that's going to take a while.

It appears to be working actually. I'm now going through the process of converting all the old MEDIA tags (goldbrick) to URL tags and then converting these into AME style tags so that it works.

Is it advised to do all of this before importing any definitions into the AME system?

What would actually be quite helpful is if there was a command line way of converting tags and also for rebuilding... my board has millions of posts and its going to take days at this rate.

I'm updated to ame2.5.6 and vBulletin 4.1.10 and there're two problems..

If check version on AdminCp show error.
If power on ame2.5.6 on forum get error.

AME CP not working (or links from vboptions menu), when I go to edit threads I get errors and warnings, tried downloading again, and uploaded to the correct folders as per FAQ link but still the same result.

There is no possible way this mod works on VB 4.1.10. Are you sure you aren't using AME 3?

I installed AME3 and it doesn't work on vBulletin 4.1.10.

Best place to ask would be in the AME3 thread. This is the AME 2.5 thread. AME 2.5 does not work on VB 4.x at all.

this mod does not work with the android or iphone apps sold by vbulletin. has anyone tacked this problem - the code displayed for a link to a youtube video seems to have a problem right at the end of the link and displays (ame?) non underlined after the link.

Something odd has happened. I've had this mod working on my forum for a number of months now. I had to use vbulletins internal "rebuild the post cache". Ever since doing that some posts in the forum which contained media are either showing blank or the videos that are embedded within them while everything else does.

The tags are still there. If i go to edit an affected post and then re-save the videos appear again.

I'm not sure what has happened. Is there an easy way to fix this which doesn't involve me trawling through the forum and manually editing broken posts as and when i see them?

I'm logged into Youtube and am not having any https URLs... that said it should be a fairly simple fix...

What do you have in the Regular expression box for the YouTube definition?

If it starts with http:// just change it to https*:// and that should work with both http and https links.

This is an issue with Vimeo also... they are moving over to all https and AME won't embed the https. Also, AME won't embed youtube vids that are not of this format:

If it has anything like below, such as &feature, or &related, they won't embed. They have to be the 'long link' as shown above.

Jl255, Well yes your vides will not show up! Only the link will display! But not the videos!

If you wanted to remove it then, You will need have another Addon if you want your videos to show and not edit them all again! Else you will have to use a BBCODE, and edit each and every post again! Here is a link to a full Youtube BBCODE embed:

There is one more addon that you will have to edit some of your files too, If I find it, I will send it to you!

But if you want my advice, dont delete the AME Embedder, its not using any memory or space! Only if you have the CACHE enabled!

I think that may be a "feature" of a particular browser. I set this up for a client yesterday and he complained that his videos weren't showing. As he was explaining, he said he was using Chrome and the sites he visited were all https://. His main concern was Vimeo. I use FF, so when I clicked an https:// link he sent me in an email, I found that the page was NOT https:// in my browser.

However, I did add that s* code you provided in the regex box and it works fine. Thanks for that.

Jim, I know there is an "https everywhere" extension for Chrome that tries to use https wherever possible, that might be it.

If I run the ultility to regnerate the embed codes, I do see embeded Youtube codes. If I make a new post, with a Youtube link, it doesn't show as embedded.

I have an issue where if a regular user posts a youtube link it will not embed and just show the link as it normally would.

But once an admin comes in and clicks edit then save on that post the video shows like it should.

Has anyone had this happen on their site?

Yes, I have. But a simple edit and save without actually editing the link doesn't work for me. I find that the user has posted a link to a full-screen video, which is a different URL. I have to find the You Tube page the standard video is on and copy the address that appears when you click the Share button.

It depends how the user is posting the link- if they are using a mobile app like forum runner or tapatalk this may be expected because the proper hooks are not being run when the message is submitted. The "Zoints Anonymous Posting" and "VB Network" mods cause the same problem when posts are made through them again because of no hooks being called.

Does this only support videos?

Does it also transform other media, like links to .jpgs and .wav?

It will support anything you create a definition for. Videos are the most popular but anything that has embed code is usually possible.
