No complaints here either, I just need to know how to list all forums and not just the latest threads

See the vBulletin manual for how to create the dropdown menus.

First let me thank you for this hack and for releasing it free. Everything seems to work perfectly. My only question is what/where to edit so the thread titles in the latest threads block in the center show more letters as they are cut off at about 17 I believe followed by ...

TIA!

This is not a problem with vbindex... I don't think anyway...

When I go to my main page http://www.domain.com/vbindex.php or index.php I am logged in just fine auto I guess.

However when I go to my forum http://www.domain.com/forum I am not logged in nor can I log in.

Now if I go from my vbindex page to the forum I stay logged in.

I have changed vbindex to use the same navbar as the forum and changed links in the nav bar to be based on the domain name.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for your time.

In your admin control panel under vboption-->cookies what is your cookie path? Have you tried setting it to .domain.com ??

That's the only thing I can think of but then again I've been out of vbulletin since 2.2.3.

Odoin 05-21-2004 04:30 AM

Okay I have figured out it is a cookie/domain issue. When I enter www.domain.com/forum it takes me to http://domain.com/forum rather then keeping me at www. I check all settings and everything points to www. If I go to a post number with www it keeps it... its strange...

JTMON 05-21-2004 04:33 AM

change your cookie path to .domain.com without the www and make sure you have the period before the name of the domain like above?

triage 05-22-2004 07:12 AM

is there anyone who can tell me how to stop the latest threads displaying, and instead display the forum index in its place (so that on the front page of the portal down the centre of the page all the forums are shown instead of the latest threads)

Hi,

I'm helping CrankN while he's at work. I downloaded a fresh copy, removed and replaced all the files. I went to the admin cp, pasted http://www.ourdomain.net/folder/admincp/vbiupgrade.php and hit Enter. It started to load, "Processing complete...proceed" flashed at the top of the page, then the page went blank. The side menu of the admin cp shows but the main right side is plain white. It looks like a path problem to me. We don't have /forum/ and I'm wondering if the install is looking for that or not. If not, have you got any ideas what might be causing this and what I can do to complete it?

Thanks,
Janice
No ideas?

The center or the side of the page? Can you show me an example? Can't you make a custom box and list the forums there?

There is no reason for that to ever happen.

triage 05-23-2004 09:08 PM

if you look at the forum http://www.chetnet.co.uk/portal you will see that i have the last ten threads however what i would like is the foum list such as http://www.chetnet.co.uk/portal/forum/index.php? (only condensed) so people can access the forums easier rather than just seeing the new posts

triage 05-24-2004 09:14 PM

I don't want to use vbadvanced as i really like vbindex, however due to my lack of php writing abilities there does not appear to be a way of getting the forums on the portal without going to vbadvanced or paying someone via pm's $100. Has anyone got any ideas apart from vbadvanced or offers of paying them lots of money?

Cold Steel 05-24-2004 10:44 PM

Is there anyway to put the shoutbox on another page?

Like the arcade?

Code Monkey 05-24-2004 10:48 PM

How do I get the header logo to link back to the front page and not the forums as is default in vBulletin?

I am still working on mine, so this is my test site... But I think I have what you want or close to it. I have it listed on my left side.

Did you look in your VBIndex_header? That's the only place I could think of that you would have it linked like that.

Yeah, this is what's in the header. I am just not that familiar with VB yet to really know what variables do what

Code:

href="$vboptions[bburl]/$vboptions[forumhome]$ext?$session[sessionurl]"

Diva 05-25-2004 01:37 AM

Change:

HTML Code:

href="$vboptions[bburl]/$vboptions[forumhome]$ext?$session[sessionurl]"
to

HTML Code:

href="http://www.joystickrequired.com"

LOL, yeah, of course it's that easy.

Code Monkey 05-25-2004 02:47 AM

Another thing I notice is that when replying to a news post from the from page it quotes the article. Is there an easy fix for that. Just add the noquote=1 to the url?

thats sort of it, however i would like it listed in the middle, with icons to say there are new posts since your last visit.....so basically instead of having the latest threads have the list of the forums but with new post icons for those forums that have new posts.

ImportPassion 05-25-2004 02:32 PM

function log_out() is getting inluded twice. to remove open vbindex_header and remove the whole js logout script

Can I include JUST the shoutbox in another page?

I'd like to add the shoutbox to http://forums.asiansinc.com/arcade.php

I have a question. I am not using the default style which is what vBindex is using. I am using the Oivar style from extremepixels.com. How do I get the vBindex to match that? Thanks for any help that can be given. The Oivar style is the only one I have installed.

stangcentral 05-26-2004 04:10 AM

Hi. VBIndex is fully customizable. You can use the same header, gradients, etc... I havent gone live with mine quite yet... But here is my tester site.

ernestdefoe 05-26-2004 04:29 AM

Nevermind...I got it. Just needed to copy some info from my header template to the vbindex_header template. Plus took out the additional navbar stuff as well.

No, you can't unless you hack it in.

Code Monkey 05-26-2004 05:41 PM

For the first time, someone other than me wrote a test news article. He had no avatar yet. When his test article was on the front page. My welcome avatar became the noavatar pic. As well as the avatar for all my news posts. I can not tell if it is only happening without an avatar choice. Once he designs one I will know if it overides mine. This is a definate problem as we launch our site.

VB 3.0.1
vbindex 3.0.0 RC5

Also, this is with no default avatar set. Just a link to unregistered icon in vbindex control panel.

Hi. Go to Styles & Templates > Styles Manager > Choose the style > Click GO.

Scroll down to Image Paths and make sure you have the FULL path listed to all the images....

EX: http://www.YOUR DOMAIN.com/forums/images/statusicon

I hope this helped. :)

Imprezer 05-28-2004 05:51 AM

I want to make a custom block which will show latest X threads for a particular forum. How can I do that?

Thanks!

Imprezer 05-28-2004 06:29 AM

Ok, I looked it over, maybe it would be easier to modify vbindex_latestthreadbit to show latest threads from a particular forum.

Is this possible?
