I don't know and I can't help you without full access to your site. This is not being reported by anyone else.

Hmmm.... sounds like someone needs to manage & secure his server, and read up on LDM's fully detailed wiki.

Didn't know this mod came with unlimited personal support.... very time-consuming I'm sure.

Not unlimited but reasonable support. Obviously I'm a sad guy who can't live a real life. More seriously, it can be interesting to understand what types of difficulties exist.

Help me... i cant view the picture

http://www.actors-studio.org/Foros/images/Image2.jpg

Entering a link but I did not create the image.

Thanks

Montecristo 10-31-2008 12:03 AM

Is the image on the link is obtained automatically or I have to upload?

obmob 10-31-2008 12:12 AM

If you set your thumbs folder and dimensions, LDM might try to create the thumbnail... I prefer to add it manually. :p

The image is normally provided separately from the link/file.

The first step is to set LDM/admin/settings/link_imagesize to the size of the thumbnail you want to display. Otherwise, you are not given the option to specify an image in the add/edit entry form. (Up to LDM version 2.2.9, you have to do this step explicitly. From 2.3.0, it will automatically pick up a value from vbulletin if necessary)

It is also a good idea to specify LDM/admin/settings/thumbs_dir, so that LDM can cache the thumbnails of your images, but this is not essential.

After you have done this, the add/edit entry form contain one or two extra fields, for pointing to an image and for uploading an image. (The field for uploading an image only appears if you have also enabled uploads.)

The thumbnail image is also created automatically in the following situations:
- Your main file is an image, or
- Your main file is an mp3 file containing albumart *and* you have installed the ID3tags extra for LDM.

Have you taken a look in the LDM release zip? The vba_modules subdirectory in /release contains modules such as ldm_new.module, which shown the latest releases. The php code for this module is available in /development/vba_modules/php

I have the uploading of files enabled. However, when a person adds an entry the option to upload a file from computer is not there. I have to add an option as a attribute. What I am doing wrong?

Also, if I comment on a video. The thread in the forum specified is not updating with the comment.

rockinaway 10-31-2008 01:19 PM

Okay, I have the upload options :) .. just the comments problem now..

rockinaway 10-31-2008 01:24 PM

My attachment limit is set at 10MB. This works fine for normal members, however when uploading as admin I have a very small upload limit. Why?

Also, how can I increase the size of the video shown? I can increase the size of the player, but not the video.

LDM gets its limits in several ways, but I'm surprised that you are finding that the admin limits are smaller than regular users:

a) The 'master switches' are the php.ini settings *post_max_size* and *upload_max_filesize*. You can't exceed these values.

b) For vb admins, LDM allows uploads up to the smaller of those two values

c) For other users, LDM sets the maximum size on a per filetype basis by looking up the max size setting in the vb attachments table

d) If you've set LDM/admin/settings/upload_maxspace, and the total uploads are close to that limit, filesize is further reduced.

Concerning thread creation, have you set LDM/admin settings/autocreate_username? There's a bug in version 2.2.9-post1 with that setting, fixed in 2.2.9-post3. I think things work ok if you leave the setting blank.

LDM/admin/players. There's a set of control settings for each of the media players, normally within variable "player_width=XXX" and "player_height=XXX". Be careful with the syntax. Apologies that this is not the friendliest interface - the different media players are controlled in different ways.

Guest210212001 10-31-2008 02:18 PM

I have one question. How can i do this? Left the category table en right the download items. See for a example the attachement. Thanks for your help Andrew.

There's an 'extra' in the release (explorer-view) which gives you the category table in this form.

Thanks for the other info, but thsi increases the size of the player. I want to increase the size of the actual video shown within the player.

Video size is determined by the video itself when it is encoded. The video can be reduced/ enlarged by some media players, but VB or LDM does not control that setting. Also, the player needs to support the codec used to decode the video and support auto-sizing of the video. So there are several reasons why the video size is not what you want.... none of which is due to VB or LDM.

- The French language file contains an old and incorrect phrase - it should say 'Transf?r?' rather than 'Espace disque utilis?' - i.e the vba module is trying to report the number of bytes downloaded, not the number of bytes stored.

- You have also given all usergroups the LDM permission *can_bypass_bandwidth_limits*. This means that the "Hit recording" process treats all accesses as being 0 bytes long (i.e. no bandwidth used). For this reason, your vba module reports "0 bytes" transferred.

thanks, it work now.

(I can't delete the historique of the debug with internet explorer, but with firefox it's possible).

When I view the video normally from my desktop, the size can be adjusted and is much bigger. So why is it uploading like that?

rockinaway 11-01-2008 11:16 AM

Okay, I sorted that out. However, can I prevent the installation of a plugin for certain browsers? I don't want users to install a plugin. Which player wouldn't require a plugin?

Is it possible to change the catid and linkid values to the actual names of the categories and links? For example, instead of a catid being referred to as a number 2 or 3, they could be referred to as 'music' , 'pictures', etc. ?

I'd like the names of the categories / links to appear in the URLs, even if with dashes / underscores between words in the URL.

You can go part-way using the seo options (LDM/admin/seo options, and choose 'extended'), provided you are able to set up your web server to process the resulting seo-friendly urls. Doing so is explained in the ldm wiki.

This will generate urls with mixed alpha+numeric category names (c-alpha-1218) and with numeric (1234) linkids.

It is not straightforward to take this further, because a) the names do not have to be unique, and b) coding seo-translators to recognise and handle arbitrary names is a pig of a problem.

sparklywater 11-01-2008 01:07 PM

I'm currently using the following rewrite-rules with vBSEO, it all works well except that the linkid and catid values are numeric only:

Code:

'^local_links\.php\?action=jump&id=(\d+)&catid=(\d+)' => 'jump/$1/$2.html'
'^local_links\.php\?action=jump&id=(\d+)' => 'jump/$1.html'
'^local_links\.php$' => 'index.php'
'^local_links\.php\?catid=(\d+)&linkid=(\d+)' => 'category/$1/$2.html'
'^local_links\.php\?catid=(\d+)' => 'category/$1.html'
'^local_links\.php\?catid=-(\d+)' => 'category/-$1.html'
'^local_links\.php\?action=play&catid=(\d+)&linkid=(\d+)' => 'category/$1/play/$2.html'
'^local_links\.php\?action=play&catid=(\d+)&linkid=(\d+)&page=1' => 'category/$1/play/$2.html'

Hi Andrew, I got a new problem with category creation.

After I submitted the request of category creation, the page will be redirected to an error message "Category x does not exist". OK, then I return to the creation page, re-submitted it -- after that I got two new categories, all the same but has different category ID. And I tried to delete one of them (the one with the bigger ID number), but after that both categories are gone!

The category I want to create is a subcategory, it has extended description and parent forum. Also there is one attribute group, it includes 2 attributes, one of them is required value.

[Edit]
Well, I checked the database. The category I created before is still there, it just doesn't have the value of "catdate" (it is 0), maybe because of this it doesn't show up.

Very strange. I can't immediately reproduce this. Can you confirm which code release you are using, and check if you have modified the links_addnewcat, links_addnewlink_catselect_one, or links_addnewcat_oneentity template.

Also, do you by any chance have the php suhosin module installed? I've just worked with another site that has had strange behaviour with category creation, linked to that module.

I'm no expert but these all require plugins. The Windows Media Player plugin handles all three filetypes. The combination of Microsoft's Silverlight and Jeroen Wijering's player will deal with wmv and wma - the JW player features are available through the LDM extra JW-player-extensions. But most users will not have Silverlight installed, so will have to install it.

If you really want 'plugin free' then I think you need to convert to flash and mp3. But I may be wrong.

I am using 2.3.0 beta1.

The templates you mentioned are unmodified.

I also don't use suhosin module. I have Xcache installed, but it was long time ago. I didn't have this problem before I upgraded to 2.3.0 beta1.

This is a great mod but something I don't have time to add for now so am looking to uninstall it for now. When I remove the files from includes I get errors at my site and some pages don't load. I upload these files again and everything is fine.

I don't mind leaving them there for the site to continue to work but when viewing someone's profile there are boxes there called -

My recent LDm hits
My recent LDm entries

How can I remove them from the profile because if I delete the file local_links_profile.php I get errors

mehrdad220 11-03-2008 10:58 PM

some how none of the CMPS modules (PHP 1s) show up on the portal, i have added them to my main portal page but none of the appear. the LDM works great tho!

any ideas?

sparklywater 11-06-2008 02:14 PM

I have all my LDM pages' permission set to allow visit by guests, but I've noticed that google and yahoo crawlers in the 'Who's Online' display are shown the error message with an exclamation mark (it says the googlebot is 'Viewing Error Message'). These same pages however can be accessed by human guests. Any idea why this is the case?

DJDrew 11-06-2008 04:37 PM

Hello,

Hmm when I click the "browse" button when trying to upload a video, it doesn't seem to do anything.

Any ideas?

Drew
