Yup, and this is a clue for me on where to search for the fix thanks :)

gazzak 09-20-2007 07:59 AM

Just one question from me before I give this mod a try.

We currently run the shoutbox that's been around for a while, but due to the high load it places on our shared server we only run it when required. Does this chatbox place a similar load on the server or is it much more processor friendly?

VBDev 09-20-2007 08:11 AM

It has been reported has much more processor friendly :)

baghdad4ever 09-20-2007 08:39 AM

thanks vbdev

i give band and it is succeded

but there is no pm to baned user...

although

i enable the option from admincp..

how i fix that??

VBDev 09-20-2007 10:21 AM

With the option enabled, no pm of ban was sent ?

Hum, I have not tested it so maybe its buggy, I'll note that in the todolist.

 can u make it work with this???

VBDev 09-20-2007 02:08 PM

I am sorry but I personnaly won't have the time to dig into that

theOZer 09-20-2007 02:40 PM

Since upgrading to V1.5 -
Clicking on "Archives" in the chatbox window takes me to the vBulletin "you are not logged in" window & requires I re-login to see the archive. Only requires the re-logging in once, subsequent clicks on Archives takes me directly to archives.
Note: Clicking on the NavBar MGC Chatbox "View Archives" takes me directly to archives (as it should) with no need to re-login again.
All other aspects of MGC Chatbox seem to be working great, if I may add. Great hack.
Running vB3.6.8, upgraded from V1.2 to current V1.5. Usergroup permissions are set up, nothing else appears out of place.

VBDev 09-20-2007 03:08 PM

Hum that's strange, I never experienced such problem.

This seems art to debug, anyone else encountering that problem ?

theOZer 09-20-2007 04:04 PM

Postscript 22 SEP 2007:
I tweaked the mgc_chatbox template where it calls the archive, using the chatbox navbar code as a guide, and simply deleted $vboptions[bburl]/ off the a tag href. This fixed my problem.
MGC Chatbox Rules!

VBDev 09-20-2007 08:18 PM

Hum that's really strange.

I really don't see what could be causing that, I'll give it a try but can't assure you that I will find what's wrong as I am not able to reproduce that :(

Are you sure you have followed carefully the how to install ?

Well, I went through the install line by line and did everything that it said, but unless I'm not looking in the right place, I simply don't see ANYTIHNG in the usergroup manager about chat. I do see a new item on the menu for CHAT with only the option to delete chat.

If you don't see in the usergroup the permissions, then check that there is a bitfield_chatbox.xml file in your includes/xml directory.

Coz if you don't see them, the only reason would be that you haven't uploaded the xml file before the installation.

andrewtr89 09-21-2007 06:59 AM

It would be super if you could make it so that Replacement Variables work in the shoutbox. Atm, anyone can bypass them as they dont apply.

That was the problem -- not all of the files copied from the directory. Is there a user guide for things like how to do a private chat?

What is the use of replacements variable in the chatbox ?

No sorry, I hardly have the time to develop it so I even more hardly have the time to write a user guide.

But you could as well censor them no ?

gazzak 09-21-2007 07:34 PM

Installed and tested, definately seems to be less processor hungry. Will click on installed.

One question. On our old shoutbox the users would pick a font and a colour and stick with that through the chat session. With yours you can use a different font/colour combination once only then back to the normal text. Is there any way to make the font stick for the whole of the session?

Great mod :D

VBDev 09-21-2007 07:53 PM

Yes, if they go in their user control panel in the options, there are options for that :)

jlp09550 09-21-2007 11:19 PM

I know this is an easy-to-answer question, but I'm not an expert at this yet.. but..

I get this error when importing the lanuage set:

Hi VBDev,

he is saying that he can see the frame and some of the icons for the chatbox but none of the conversational text no matter what he does.

thx, ronx

If you mean by editing shouts then yes, I suppose but its a bit of a hassle. Having replacement variables would be nice in a future version if it wasnt too difficult.

I have installed safari 3 on my mac as this was the version 2 installed on my computer.

And there is really no problem, the chatbox run very well, I can see all the shouts in it :(

No I mean by using the censor functionnality of vbulletin (censor words are being replaced by *).

csavern 09-22-2007 11:52 AM

Great shoutbox thank you

I cannot find anything to do with fonts and colours. My users want the old shoutbox back because they love the colours/fonts being stuck for the whole login so if you could explain I'll do the changes.

Hum permissions seems ok to me. About your problem, is it encountered by all the user of a usergroup or only few of them ?

Then this is because you haven't followed carefully the install instructions coz you should have modified the modifyoptions template during the install for those option to appear.

Becareful and do it quick coz if you don't do so your user could see the chatbox disappear if they make any change in the options pages.

entertain 09-22-2007 06:57 PM

What can i do, if i will be banned as a administrator?
I found nothing in the admincp to get the Chatbox back.

Yes this has been done correctly, (inserting $mgc_cb_ucp before the code you quoted), I just double checked. Please can you tell me exactly where I should see these options as I have searched my own usercp without success. A screenshot would be very helpful, thanks.

gazzak 09-23-2007 08:05 AM

OK, worked it out

These options only appear when Chatbox is enabled, otherwise they're hidden. On our forums we only use it for specific events so it's usually turned off, so no options in the usercp! I just turned it on to test this and suddenly the options were there! I like the fact that they stay with the user even when you turn the Chatbox off and on again.

Top stuff.

hamidof 09-23-2007 08:46 AM

Great work thanks!

entertain 09-23-2007 11:54 AM

How can I post links in the chatbox?

Because there it is not possible to klick on a link... :o

There is nothing in the acp regarding chatbox ban.

The only way to unban yourself is to ask the user that ban you to unban you.

However if you have banned yourself, the only way to do it is to go in the database and removing yourself from the mgc_chatbox_ban table. Then to go in the user table of the database and set the mgc_chatbox_ban field to 0 for your user entry.

As this is not a "normal" way of use, this won't be modified.

The option to disable the chatbox means disable everything from the chatbox so there are no reason why the option should stay ;)

You have to activate the URL BBCODE (in the chatbox options) if you want links to be automatically parsed in the chatbox.
