Actually no. I cannot think of any permission set-up that would allow you to create a file but not write to it (unless its a windows server ?).

Negative. It's Linux. I have re-cursed permissions to all files and sub-directories as well and still a no-go. I'm lost!

Here's a strange one for you lol. Not sure what I missed if I even missed anything, but the only backup that was made so far was the one I did to test the setup to make sure it works. The folder has been set 777 and directory is set correctly, but seems the scheduled task itself is not running. See the images attached. Am I missing something?

The "Automatic Database Backup" was the only one that was listed when I checked the "Scheduled Task Log" and my "Scheduled Task Manager" looks like this (image attached), which I'm not sure why some dates say 2003, 2009, etc. Maybe this is another vBulletin bug...
