Subforums : http://ut2007world.com/index.php?pag...d=2&styleid=45 (Click on forum (Deutsch) )

Both using now even vbadvanced :)

I also changed all the other link used to browse through the forums, like banner etc., which was easy since I do use two different styles, hence I could modify banner, header, footer and navbar accordingly.

You will realise that even a language id is used to convert the 2nd forum to german and I also phrased the vbadvanced for the 2nd part (yes I do have a branding free option - in case you will ask ..)

Once again Amy, THANKS :)

I usually have a small country flags to jump back and forth, but they are disabled as long as we are not finished with the 2nd part (will be imported from a wbb forum)

Regarding forumjump : It does not appear on forumhome .. so you DON'T have it .. I am not sure if this is what they require though ...But IF it violates the license, I am more than happy to get one .. worth the result :)

utw-Mephisto 07-13-2006 09:59 PM

Amy, is there a way to force a style and language to a certain page ?

^SuiCyde^ 07-17-2006 06:59 AM

i think if i understood this correctly, the person above you just answered that question......... you just have to implement the style and language in your links to switch between pages........

aceofspades 07-17-2006 10:50 AM

Can someone please please tell me how i would go about changing the names of the pages. For example i would like page2 to be news.html

Can someone please tell me how i can achieve this

utw-Mephisto 07-17-2006 11:49 AM

This needs to be down with rewrite rules using .htaccess, but since I am using vbseo - it was easy to do it that way ...

aceofspades 07-17-2006 04:41 PM

I am also using VBSEO (well, i plan to buy it next week anyway), can you tell me how i would do it with SEO installed please?

utw-Mephisto 07-17-2006 04:46 PM

So you use it but you did not buy it ?!? Sounds dodgy ...

Anyway, create a custom rewrite rule

Code:

'index\.php\?page=ut2004world&langid=2&styleid=45' => 'deutsch.html'

aceofspades 07-17-2006 06:05 PM

No no i mean im making a new forum up this week (havent started yet) and i plan to use SEO, but since i havent brought my second VB licence i havent brought my second seo licence yet either becuase i havent got any hosting to put the files on.

Could you please tell me more about the custom rewite rule. What file do i put this information in, and where do i put this file. Im sorry to be a noob but im new to the whole modding thing. Thanks for your help

utw-Mephisto 07-25-2006 04:09 AM

Once you bought vbseo you have an admin menu with a section called Custom Rewrite Rules and there you put it in .. no file edit .

PanamaRed 07-26-2006 02:05 AM

getting this error:

XML Error: xml declaration not at start of external entity at Line 1

I have this installed in a test area and was able to get 13 pages working just fine, but when I went to install onto the live site, it gave the above error.

I am not too well versed with Vbulletin, so I may be missing something or doing something incorrectly.

Please Advise

PanamaRed 07-26-2006 02:09 AM

Nevermind. Seems it didn't like blank spaces :)

ronoxQ 07-31-2006 03:23 PM

What link goes to page 2? My site: http://oasisforums.omegaseye.com

What would be the link to page 2?

amykhar 07-31-2006 04:13 PM

<a href="http://oasisforums.omegaseye.com/index.php?page=2" target="_blank">http://oasisforums.omegaseye.com/index.php?page=2</a>

Ninth Dimension 09-10-2006 03:22 AM

Oh wow, now this is exactly the sort of thing I would have loved to have a few days ago.. I've ended up doing my own thing for now, so I don't need this hack, although I do wish I had found it before LOL :p

interceptor 09-20-2006 04:49 PM

I install that on 3.6.1
and work but i get that error
Uncached templates: forumhome_forumbit_level1 (1)
Uncached templates: forumhome_forumbit_level2 (4)

amykhar 09-20-2006 04:52 PM

Read the first post interceptor.

It it possible to have a forum as private.... and when users who have permission to view that forum will be redirected to the page2 forumhome?

amykhar 09-29-2006 10:46 AM

Not redirected. But, when the forum becomes visible to them, it will be visible on page 2

Hello Amy,

I am not too clear if this is what I am looking for. Basically I want another forumhome page to show up when a members visits a forum. Does your hack provide this feature? Thank you

amykhar 09-29-2006 12:33 PM

No. It does not.

kafi 10-02-2006 08:15 PM

Hi Amy, is there a way how to limit "New Post" link on forumhome2 only for its forums...?

Thank you!

kafi 10-06-2006 07:15 PM

hmm this hack has somethink that can divide briliantly forum by topics too, have a sort of more communities...

any chance to adopt also subcategories? also New posts?

Allan 12-14-2006 09:34 AM

Hey :)

This hack work with vB 3.6.4 ?

amykhar 12-14-2006 02:36 PM

I'm not sure. I had some problems with a server upgrade at the same time I installed 3.6.4 and have turned off most extensions until I have more time to play.

@ Allan - I just checked and it works like a charm on 3.6.4. :D :D :D

@ amykhar - One question... How could I modify this so instead of using page=1, page=2, and page=3; I could use text instead of numerals to designate the different forumhome pages? As in:

page=main
page=auctions
page=premium
page=those-pesky-sneaks-wont-guess-this-url

Anyone who notices the url naming sequence for pages 1 and 2 might wonder what's on pages 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Edit: I tried using text instead of numbers and it didn't work.

You can do the above with http://www.vbseo.com/222/ check out my site to see it in use

www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/gfx.html is page 2 :)
www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/techzone.html is page 3 :)

**Urgent problem**

I've been using this for a very long time. and now that im on vb 3.6.4 I have now lost the setting in the admincp, in forum manager, where you set what page that forum is on, that is now no longer there. so i cant change any of the current pages, and any new forums I add, they are now being set on page 1.

Thanks for the suggestion, hornstar, but my forum is for a somewhat private group. We're more interested in keeping site crawlers out than attracting new members through search engine query results. So buying that mod won't work for us. I'm hoping someone can help me modify this code to achieve the same result (assigning named pages instead of numeric ones).

As for your urgent problem: After you've installed upgrade files, just reupload the same xml file as before to overwrite the bits that got changed and the hack still works without any trouble. Remember to check the box that says to overwrite what was there before.

Thanks, again! :bunny:

I just tried doing that then, then checked to see if it was there, and it wasn't. So for some reason, since the update on my forum, I no longer have the option to set the page number, which is the most important feature.

Cyricx 12-26-2006 04:23 PM

I have had no luck getting this to work with 3.6.4

It still shows the forums on page 1 that are set to display on page 2, and page 2 comes up blank.

Any clues?

amykhar 12-26-2006 05:08 PM

I haven't had time to play with it on 3.6.4 yet.

Cyricx 12-26-2006 11:41 PM

I figured out what I was doing...

It does indeed work.

I forgot that I had to enable the parent forum for the sub forums to display :P

My bad :)

Great hack Amy!

TimIng2211 01-02-2007 07:26 PM

This is a great little mod and perfect for my needs.

One thing I'm struggling is this, I can see the category and forums on page2 no problem, but when in a forum, when clicking on the articles link in the breadcrumb navigation at the top, I am taken to Page1 not back to page2 (library.html) - www.digigreen.net/forums/index.php?page=2 then to any of the forums.

How do I change this?

Cheers,

Tim

amykhar 01-02-2007 08:40 PM

Tim, that's a good point. It's one I'll have to think about correcting for a new version.

It would be appreciated!

on the additional pages, the minimize forums button doesnt let you unminimize the forums. once its shrunk you cant open it back up again. on 3.6.0

amykhar 01-18-2007 07:56 PM

I can on my site on 3.6.4 Check the 'More Goodies' page on my site to see it in action.
