Ah, success! I had my chat folder named Chat. That capital C was the problem.
Working good now. Thanks for the great hack. *Clicks install* Bob |
Installed fine.

Is there anything that sorts out the 'Who's Online' page?

Yes, the plugin(s) sort that.

Something very wierd going on with my list. A member reported that when he logs into the chat, someone elses name shows up on the forum instead of his. In fact, it's a user name that was banned.
He tried logging in with a few other member names and each time, it showed someone other than that persons name. When I log into the chat myself, it shows my username so it works for my account. If I log in with another members name (without password), it shows someone completely different. :surprised: Not sure if this is something buggy with this script or perhaps Flashchat itself or??? Any help is appreciated, Bob |
You are not running in vb integrated mode (if you were then you would be logged straight in to the chat, you don't get a login screen, and you certainly cannot login as anyone else). What you are seeing is a classic example of still using Flashchats default stateless mode.

I just upgraded to the latest version of Flashchat and checked the integrate box. Should all be ok now. Bob |
Version 4.10 uploaded.
A couple of minor bugs have been fixed. This version removes the need to edit the FORUMHOME template. To upgrade from version 3.xx to version 4.10 you need to delete the existing plugin and remove the template code in FORUMHOME - then upload the new product. To upgrade from version 4.xx to version 4.10 you need to uninstall the product and remove the template code in FORUMHOME - then upload the new product. * An add-on to display a 'Most ever posters' count is also available here. |
I just added this and am having a problem with it showing up properly on the index page. I've taken a snapshot below to show it better. Any ideas? Thanks.
|
oops sorry, a Phrase is missing, I'll add it now.
|
Fixed, re-import the product with overwrite = yes.
|
I think that took care of it. Many thanks.

Quick question: If I want it to say "Who is in the chat room" instead of "Who is in FlashChat", how can I do that?

Thanks for this, but this version of who's in chat it doesn't work with FlashChat 4.4.1. I edit the prefix from fc_ to flashchat_ and it looks ok, but when there are users in the chat, it still reports no users in chat. Any idea ?

So I'm afraid you have done something wrong. |
b/c default prefix for integrating [from my experience] is _fc_
|
Actually, for a new installation it will normally be 'flashchat_' ;)
( _fc_ was the old hardcoded prefix in the 3.0 CMS file). I've seen many installations that have both sets of tables ......... |
Can I request a new feature to this plugin? With the new version, it modifies (or inserts code) in the FORUMHOME template.
Can you also, in that block, add a link for users to actually get in the chat from the block? Right now I have to modify some other template to give my users a link to get into the chat. |
The code it inserts is the "Display_Chatters" template, just modify that to add your link.
|
Yea... that works... :)
Thanks for the great, simple to use plugin! |
Need some help Please :)
1 problem and 1 question 1st were does the vbulletin35cms.php file go, in the chat folder or the forum root? problem i recieve after importing plug Warning: Unknown(./http://xxxxx.com/forum/chat/inc/config.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /index.php(63) : eval()'d code on line 34 Fatal error: (null)(): Failed opening required './http://xxxxx.com/forum/chat/inc/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /home/httpd/vhosts//xxxxx.com/httpdocs/forum/index.php(63) : eval()'d code on line 34 i have set the "home page option" to the path then the url, and still recieve the error on the forum home. any idea what i messed up or didnt do. thanks |
The CMS file goes in the flashchat /inc/cmses/ folder.
The error means you have not set the correct path (relative to your forum root) for your flashchat folder in the home page options, where is it located, what is it called. |
ok, i replaced the vbcms file in the right place.
i edited the botton for the user groups. then in vb options, home page display options i put the path: /home/httpd/vhosts/xxxx.com/httpdocs/forum/chat i have also tried ( http://xxx..com/forum/chat ) is this correct? i also she a spot on top of the vbcms for a path and have added it there and removed it and still no go. Still the same error :ermm: |

The path RELATIVE to your forum root, if your forums are in ...../http/forum and your chat is inside this ( ...../http/forum/chat ) then the setting is simply chat (which is the supplied default). |
LMAO........Thanks
Great Add on  Is there a way to make " Members currently using Flashchat:" link into chat? Thanks again |
I just install version 2.30 for Vbulliten 3.0.7 and was wondering if that is the lastest and greatest for vbulliten 3.0.7? Also I wanted to know how I can add the Who is Chatting as a side module on my vbportal along with having it on the botton as defualt

Hi Paul,
I'm running FlashChat v4.3.3 (which has been gradually upgraded from an old FC 3.X version) with your FC integration hack (version 2.45) on vB 3.5.0. I am running version 4.10 of this hack, which I upgraded from a previous version. Anyway, I have an occassional problem with the members in chat display on the ForumHome page, which may or may not be due to what you mentioned in the quoted text below. When I enter the chat, my nickname is correctly displayed on ForumHome. Similarly, when I leave FC and it logs me out, ForumHome correctly displays that there are no chatters. However, sometimes there will be a single user that appears on ForumHome as a member in chat (before I enter). When I enter chat, that user appears in the FC list (in other words, the user's name appears on ForumHome AND in FC). However, when I log out of FC, the number of chatters on ForumHome becomes 0, meaning that the other chatter who was initially appearing on ForumHome before I entered chat is no longer listed. When I reenter FC, that user is not there, as he or she was when I initially entered FC. Additionally, I question whether or not the user was actually there when I first entered FC, even though the nickname appears on ForumHome and in FC, because your Most Ever Chatters hack (version 2.03) displays '1', even though FC shows me and the other user when I initially enter FC. If another user was truly in chat, and I enter, then that should obviously be 2. Any help on this is appreciated - hope that wasn't too confusing! Boss Quote:

It is exactly due to what I posted. If the last person in the chat does no log out correctly, then they will remain in the database (as above). Flashchat can only clean-up expired connections when something runs it's code - this only happens if someone else enters the chat - so in the case above, the last person did not log out correctly, and the stuck entry was not cleaned out until you entered [later].
This doesn't affect the Socket Server mode, but most people do not / cannot run that mode. |
That makes sense - thanks for the reply and hack.
|
Display Chatters!!!!! I've been scouring the FORUMHOME template for ages trying to find that little bugger. Might want to add that to the install instructions or somewhere more obvious than page 10 of this thread.
Great hack, thanks. Quote:
