Has anyone noticed on the upgrade the RC 3 that the phrase for the admin permissions in now gone? Any idea how to get it back?

No changes since I upgraded to RC3, all seems to be working as it did before upgrading .. just uploaded another 4 quizes !

amykhar 09-18-2005 01:00 AM

I haven't noticed any missing phrases. Of course, my installation can barely be called Inferno Quiz anymore.

Andreas 09-18-2005 01:05 AM

Jelsoft introduced new phrasegroups with RC3, so this might be an issue (Phrases in Phrasegroups that are not longer being loaded).

Boofo 09-18-2005 01:23 AM

Does anyone have the phrase name and settings so I can re-add it? I couldn't find it in the files for the mod. It seems to only be the Admin Permissions phrase for some reason.

I just thought I'd share some of my quizzes with you lot.

They are a bit of a mixed bag.

Zip includes:
  • UK Driving Theory Test
  • Simpsons Quiz (Brand new just this minute created it!)
  • Mythology
  • Man-made Wonders
  • 1980's Song Lyrics
Feedback always good.

I just google Quiz or "[subject] Quiz" then spend the next 15-30 mins inputting all the data. It's easier to create as a submission then approve via the ACP then input direct into the ACP though.

amykhar 09-26-2005 07:23 PM

Are you saying that you are plagiarizing the quizzes that others work hard to create?

I have started making one of my own. I just haven't finished it yet.

Question about this mod: How do you check/know if the people taking the quiz aren't using Google to get all the answers? I guess it's an honor system for the most part.

I'd probably use this to write a Mensa quiz or something. Does anyone have examples of their quiz system using something besides trivia that can be looked up on Google?

Stand behind them while they take it. :ermm: Yeah there would be no way to know this.

trilljester 10-03-2005 05:08 PM

Unless you make a quiz that using Google wouldn't help much, like an IQ test.

That's what the time limit on taking a quiz is for. Set it at 2 minutes and they don't have enough time to look up all the answers. ;)

Thank you so much for the upgrade. Everything worked just fine. :glasses:

I think this feature is for UNIX ,but the server I'm working with is windows .Now will that be of a problem as the steps is irrelevant ...???

One more thing ,it doesn't seem that phrases have been used here .I know I will have a heart attack trying translate all that :tired: .

When a person is done taking the quiz, would there be any way to have it output the correct answers in green, and the wrong answers in red?

Yes, could this be updated to be in a product file as to not have to run an installer and just upload the files and one plugin? This looks really awesome and I have a few plans for it, but I want to be certain it is gold compatible.

I got error message when tried to delete photo from a quiz ,this is the message:
Unable to delete image - Please check it exists and CHMOD permissions are set to 0777.

SO what should I do now ....???

trilljester 10-06-2005 06:35 PM

For Windows, you need to check the Security tab on the folder where the images are being uploaded. Make sure that the Web server process can write to the directory that the images are being uploaded.

FYI: Chmod is a way of setting permissions on Unix systems. chmod 0777 (the 0 can be excluded to make it easier for you to understand), means that everyone and their brother has access to the folder and/or file. Permissions can be set by permission masks, where 7 is full access and 0 is no access. Each number is a position of the permission mask. First number is for the USER, second number is for the GROUP, and the last number is OTHER or EVERYONE. (Anyone who's not in your group and not the user who owns the file/directory). So, chmod 777 means the file can be read/written/deleted/executed by anyone on the system.

It's a little confusing at first, but once you start using it more, you understand it. I can explain it a little more in depth, but it's beyond the scope of this forum.

Annie^.^ 10-06-2005 08:06 PM

Couple of problems.

When I set user permission ins the main admin control of quiz it doesn't see it in the quiz, because each time I submit a quiz it requires me to set the persmissions (allow, deny) in each quiz. Plus the pictures doesn't show up beside the quiz (chmod 777) :nervous:

mcyates 10-07-2005 03:26 PM

i get this error:

it works fine whent he AWS is disabled.

echee 10-10-2005 08:21 AM

wow this is amazing stuff! Exactly what I need! Thanks ZT! Can I ask whether your code allows for every quiz question to be displayed on its own page (ie: 1 page per question)?

help

error vbulletin 3.5.0 gold

Fatal error: Unable to proceed with save while $errors array is not empty in class vb_datamanager_pm in /includes/class_dm.php on line 758

amykhar 10-12-2005 02:37 AM

A bit off topic for this thread, but since we just discussed quiz plagiarism a few posts back, I must note that I am FUMING mad. A large news site lifted verbatim from two of my quizzes and paraphrased the other questions based on my work.

I half expected it from 13-year old webmasters, but this is a BIG site.

Amy

Sooner95 10-12-2005 12:07 PM

damn Amy, that sucks..

Is this version good for 3.5 Gold? seems to be some issues, would it be best to wait for an updated version of this? My members would really get a kick out of it..

swantonio 10-12-2005 05:30 PM

thanks I hope that decoy soon a refresh... and the error as it is explained?

www.alfisti.net 10-15-2005 11:42 AM

Hi,
I like this hack :) But to use I need images for each question.
I found a solution to use bbcodes in the questions. OK, but they don?t work like the bbcodes in a normal post. IMG only display a link to the imgage, not the image itself.

I created a own bbcode with a BR to brake the line between question and image and it also don?t work :(

What must I do to let own bbcode running in this hack?

Thanks
Andr?
