On my site, the javascript is preventing the gab_admin.php to display (blank page). I found a missing phrase that I had to insert manually: the admin phrase to add banner.

On my friend site, banner simply will not display.

Sorry The Geek, I'm not a programmer and only now a little about adding hacks. Where & What actual code would i put into the admincp/global.php with the info you gave above.

lionel - made mention of this a few posts back. Dont worry about the packages for right now - it is for a portion of the system that isnt complete in this version. The phrase issue was mentioned too.
The js does seem to blank admincp's in rare instances - this is fixed in the next release.
Have you run a test? Does it produce anything.

If you guys really having problems with $GAB_ad1 showing would like to send me admincp/ftp details - I will figure out what is happening. It seems to be working on most systems.

Cyberdream - go into admincp, expand the languages & phrases, click phrase manager, change Phrase Type to Control Panel Global, click Add new phrase, enter GAB_add_ad in the varname and 'New Ad' in the text. Then save.

I think I would delete your global.php copy and paste. I think you may get chomped for pasting vb code publicly ;)

BTW: geezar - you are missing step 101 in the file chages for global.php

Yes I do. I downloaded a couple hours ago.
I forgot to mention. In my friend's site, I placed adv_index in the extra script space, but it does not display on that page.

How does this stack up to say phpadnews which I hear is a pain to set up but is what I hear most often recommended? Also how well does this intergrate with say vbadvanced cmps, gallery and links and other vb-add on scripts?

dont know - never used phpadnews ;)

Its designed to use on any page that uses global.php though you still have to cut it some slack - its still early beta ;)

Geek , Is the file name advertising.php correct. If i click on the link under the banner it links to advertise.php and i get a page not found ,
Advertise.php isnt in my directory

its supposed to be advertising.php but since that page wasnt even partially done - I wasnt going to worry about it (I suggested not to bother uploading it).
This has been fixed in the next release :)

Does it auto rotates banners and do u need to upload the image to your server or is it one of those Bandwidth stealer Banner system. I would like to know if I need to upload the image cause if I have to then I will install this Mod but if it is a bandwidth stealer thing then no. :ermm:

Can this intergrate well with linkshare for example, where you can just upload or paste your code, and have the a banners rotate?

lead - not sure what you mean exactly - but yes it does have the option to rotate and yes, you upload the banners (soon your users can upload their own)

She - most liekly not currently - I would need an example of the code that you would want displayed and I could incorporate that as an option too.

Install seemed to go well but when I copy the new index.php to the admin folder I cannot access the admin page - just get a blank page.

If you mean the GAb_admin page - then you may have to remve the javascript in the begining of the file - if you mean the navigation pane to the left (with style manager, etc...) is blank - manually double check the file changes.

Geek, I've just installed this on my test forum, but something has gone wrong...

1. I'm having mysql errors with the packages and add new packages in the adminCP and in advertising.php. I think it may be because of table prefixes but I'm not sure how to fix it
2. I can't seem to be able to add any new ads in the adminCP 3. With the autoinstaller, it couldn't complete step 200 because of a previous modification that your GAS hack had made. The manual file change states this: Is that = false; supposed to be there?

4. I found this phrase in Control Panel Stop Message Phrases. Since I've now added it to Global phrases, would it be safe to remove the original phrase from Control Panel Stop messages or is it a different phrase that is needed?

Hey snow.

The package side of things is not really implimented yet so just dont bother to use it (I would recommend ditching the advertising.php too.) I was hoping to get the next version out before I head off for a few days but it isnt possible. In the meantime the rest of the system (ads) will work perfectly fine.

Make sure you have a folder called gab chmod to 0777 in your forums folder

You can remove the Control Panel Stop message - what happened is I stuck that phrase in the wrong area ;)

Issues 2 (I was missing the gab folder :o ), 3 and 4 fixed. I can't wait for the packages side to be finished... it looks like it's going to be another winner hack.

I've got another minor bug issue though..... In options > Record number of times shown? and in Ads > Track views .... I keep selecting YES and it keeps switching back to NO when I save :(

I was just wondering..... how easy would it be to integrate your autolinker hack with this hack in an intellitext sort of way of advertising? Would that be possible?
