WhiteOx2 07-24-2004 12:33 AM

I have had this installed and working since April ..... But for some reason it doesn't want to work if you install a new skin
It just loads up a blank web page, sometimes you can get it to work by deleting your cookies ????
Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

BTW: For the people who keep downloading an empty Zip file .... Turn your firewall off .... Worked for me ;)

aberg 07-30-2004 01:07 PM

I get a empty file after downloading the zip.
I have turn off the firewal, without any result.
Where can i downloading a good zip file?

download not working anyone got another link plz

Has anyone been able to assign admin rights to users who belong to a secondary usergroup? I don't want to create a new primary group for them as I already have them marked off for something else; they're not mods, but I'd like them to be able to admin in the chat room.

Check out the Sigmachat forums or their "add-ons" (?) link in your chat control panel (I think that's what it's called) ;)

Dep 08-04-2004 02:32 PM

ty got in downloaded now i have run into a problems all i get is

Applet Halted. This chat room is closed.

can you still use the free version or do you have to have a paid version

NetRover 08-07-2004 11:06 AM

total newbie just setup the free version without any problems.

well documented and excellent work.

The most annoying part was having to do the templates for each style involved but I bet I missed an easier obvious way.

thinking of upgrading already to get the X users chatting which appears to be available.

Sounds like you didn't set your templates up right to begin with. if you had set them up as child templates then you'd only have to edit/add the main templates and it would automatically update the ones below.

NetRover 08-09-2004 07:12 PM

AhHa!, :)

I better check that, thanks for the tip.

I don't want to interfere on the subject of this thread, I'll just assume if I remove them I can add them again as child and it should be ok.

I don't get this under the forum.

How do i get this on the index right under the forum?

lazytown 08-16-2004 12:53 AM

I thought there was going to be a cache of some kind where it updates "who's online" every five minutes or so? In fact i was told to expect that update sometime in July by Raidersoft support. Any word on this? Right now that who's online credits get eaten up way too fast.

Bryan Ex 08-16-2004 11:49 PM

The last I'd read from raidersoft was that they had identified some series issues with older OS and where correcting that before releasing the new chat which is why the delay. The integration script obviously won't be updated by them until the new chat applet goes final.

Grim77 08-21-2004 05:17 AM

We're getting very close to an initial public release for SigmaChat 7.4 (now in beta -- visit http://beta.sigmachat.com/ for details)

As soon as a pre-release candidate goes online, we'll be updating the integration script here. So I have the latest from everyone, a couple questoins..

1. What major issues (bugs/annoyances) do you feel need to be addressed most in this script?
2. What major features do you feel should be included in the next script release?

Thanks!

-Chris

P.S. We're now shooting for an Oct 1 release :)

Bryan Ex 08-21-2004 05:51 AM

This integration has worked wonderfully for me Chris. A few items I'd like to see included in an update would be to correct the issue with broken profile links for user names containing spaces (like Bryan Ex for example), it would be nice if user titles were used in Who's Chatting instead of the "stock" member, moderator, & admin used now, but most importantly an indicator of the number of people in chat after the Chat link in the nav bar done on a cron so hits are not consumed too fast.

JustAskJulie 08-21-2004 08:50 PM

For the most part this has worked great for me. I have had some complaints tho from people not being able to get logged in. The username area shows their name from the site but it won't log them in complaining that their un/pw is incorrect.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Grim77 08-22-2004 01:38 AM

It's possible that it could be caused by incompatibilities between the username/password requirements for vBulletin and that of SigmaChat -- we'll definitely look into it :)

Thanks. I'm not sure what incompatibilities there are aside from the _ vs. space issue. The ones I've encountered this with were names without spaces or _ of any kind, just standar letters and numbers.

JustAskJulie 08-22-2004 02:53 AM

Just ran into something else. When using the "who's chatting" link on the Quick Links list, it doesn't work if you are using Vba CMPS portal.

I'd love to have a way to tap into the who's chatting user ids in the chat room so that I can modify the template to include avatars, links to profiles, PM, etc. Or maybe you can just make that part of the integration script -- with on/off variables for various vB user profile items. The avatars, etc. could be listed in a table under the main chat box. I guess the trick would be to have it update itself when people come and go (like the list next to the chat box).

Having pictures and profile info available right in the chat room would really add to the conversations....

Thanks for the work on the program and the vB integration! :)

I wanted to update on this. I have had a couple of people now who have ended up re-registering a new name because they couldn't get access to the chat room with the name(s) they had previously registered on the forums. After registering a new name they were able to get in with no problem (but only with the new name). :ermm:

The Geek 09-08-2004 03:08 PM

Just bought a Platinum version yesterday and am about to download this integration as it looks pretty sweet.

I was just wondering though... Couldnt the next version allow us to pass a userid along with the login info? That way, you could:
Be able to bring up users profiles from the chat menu (even PM or email) by appending the sites URL member page if integration is enabled.
You could also call a script on the forums web site when users login and logout (i.e. http://www.mydomain.com/forum/chat_s...uid=1&do=login). Even better, you could post an array of all the user id's that are chatting (if there is more than one) every x amount of minutes, and/or when someone logs in/out. That way the forum site can cache the who's on line in a small table... get an accruate list and member link for who is chatting, keep the 'who is online' up to date, and dramatically reduce bandwidth while keeping information accurate.

Just a thought... Im going off to install ;)

I think this is a great idea, it also might help to clear up the problem we are having with incompatible user names?

Grim77 09-17-2004 01:39 PM

The next version will be able to do exactly that :) We've completely redesigned and enhanced the remote authentication system. The next release of this mod will be more tightly integrated with the chat software :)

Quick update --

SigmaChat v7.4 Beta is now getting very close to final release. We're currently testing Release Candidate 2 with our beta testers.

RaiderSoft has also transitioned it's support forums from IPB 1.3 to VB 3.0.3 :D

You can view the future release in action at http://support.raidersoft.com/forums/chat.php?

We hope to have an updated vBulletin/SigmaChat integration module ready by the time v7.4 goes final.

Cheers!

Any word on this?

oly51 10-06-2004 11:33 PM

V7.4 was released and uploaded to their servers at 18:15 EDT today.

It looks pretty promising.

paulmjno 10-09-2004 01:36 AM

I am thinking about buying the Platinum service because of this script. But, is the ability there to build a chat page from scratch, instead of having it integrated in the vB design? And have it popup? (You know, like music artists chat rooms.)

ChurchMedia 10-09-2004 07:02 AM

I wrote a quick hack that lets you look up a member's profile from within SigmaChat 7.4. You just upload one file and add a Remote Function in your SigmaChat control panel. Easy!

Here is where the hack is located:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=70369

Don't forget to click Install :) Thanks!

JustAskJulie 10-10-2004 07:08 PM

Hey Grimm, I haven't changed /updated anything on my end with the integration, but it would seem that the changes to sigmachat on your end have fixed the login problem I had previously reported.

NetRover 10-23-2004 02:06 PM

Hi all, just bought my platinum to use the authentication script.

I have setup the usergroups access to chat in the global settings but wondered if this works if a member subscribes and becomes a member in a paid secondary user group.

I have the feeling only primary groups are recognised as I added my paid group to a user name and they could not access the chat.

What's the best way of only allowing paid members access?

thanking you all

Bounce 10-31-2004 10:19 PM

Brilliant :squareeyed:

I've got the "who's online" link working a treat but  is there a way I can get it so it would show "users in chat" without you having to actually click on the "who's online" link??

To be put into the "What's Going On?" bit of the forum :ermm:

camikazi2k 11-11-2004 01:38 AM

is there a way to integrate this with VBADVANCED on the homepage?

scottct1 11-11-2004 04:34 PM

It's not working correctly for me (Almost but not quite) :)

First in your globals phrase additions you spelled Sigma wrong in sigmchat_refresh_msg it should be sigmachat_refresh_msg

Also in the whos online my screen comes up wrong, saying there is 0 people in chat when there is someone in there and it also says I am a user when I am an adminstrator (Usergroup 6)

If no one is in chat it shows..
Currently -1 user(s) chatting. (With one person in there it shows 0, with two is shows 1 user chatting with 3 it shows 2 etc..)

Please see the attached images for more details. As you can see when I am loging in it is verifying me as an administrator.

Alsi is there any way to verify me the whos online is only being updated every 2 minutes? I just dont want to get a huge bill for whos online when the script is set to two minutes.

Thanks for the hack and the great chat! I just upgraded to Enterprise last week.

Grim77 11-11-2004 05:03 PM

Hi scottct1,

OK -- yes it was a typo in the installation file, which will be corrected shortly. Thanks!

The Who's Chatting link should have been fixed in this release -- did you reupload all of the new files? If so, can you provide me with a link to your forum so I can check it out?

We don't charge for Who's Chatting hits anymore, so there is no worry there :)

The url to the site is http://www.satelliteguys.us (The Who Chatting Link is found under the QUICK LINKS in the navigation bar.)

Thats cool to hear that the Whos Chatting hits is free now. :)

I didn't know the who's chatting hits were free now. Woohoo! My users have been asking me a ton, but because we have high traffic (in our forums, not necessarily chat room), I was a bit weery.

Is it possible to use secondary usergroups yet to define chat mods? I have some "normal" users who would be great chat mods, and creating a secondary group for this would be really nice and easy.

Grim77 11-11-2004 11:42 PM

OK --

I just posted (8:36 EST, 11/11/04) an update to the script with some bug fixes and new functionality:

1. The Who's Chatting link from the Quick Links pulldown is now much smarter and more tightly integrated with the forum system.
2. The Who's Chatting link from the Quick Links pulldown now indicates the subroom a user is in.
3. Authentication now checks member group ID's per popular request.

scottct1 11-12-2004 01:47 PM

That one is working well. :)

Now I just need to figure out how to put it above my forums listing, it is up there now but the columns throw it off a bit this way when we have chats I dont need to update my navagation bar letting people know a chats in progress. :)

Thats not a problem with your hack at all, just a design issue on my end!

Thanks again!
