Awesome hack! I installed it today.

FleaBag 01-05-2004 01:24 AM

Is there a way to import existing shouts from TWT's Shoutbox hack for vB2? Wouldn't want to lose the thousands that are archived.

was you trying to put the "/admincp" in the 1st step of the installation instructions ? if it had "/admincp" in the url that you had to edit, then get it off and see.

kcradio 01-05-2004 03:24 AM

Got that fixed - thank you alot!

On my post icon, I am having this issue. In the properties of the image, I am seeing this:
http://www.kctalk.com/forums/http://...cons/icon1.gif

Instead of the correct path... Can you tell me where to correct this at?

cnczone 01-05-2004 03:28 AM

What am I doing wrong, during install all I get is DB errors, how can I fix it??

This is what I get http://www.helibuffproducts.com/vbindex.php

run this: http://www.helibuffproducts.com/foru...vbiupgrade.php , replace '/forum/admincp/' with your current link if it is not like that.

cnczone 01-05-2004 03:42 AM

OK, but every process gives me DB errors.

I have bee looking to get a solutin since yesterday, I did get one but it doesn't work. I can't login from my home page either (thought I've changed everything he said ). hope to get over this soon.

kcradio 01-05-2004 03:58 AM

ok, 2 problems...

1) the post icons will not work becuase of the added path

2) can not log in from the portal.

Working on #2 first as that can get my members very confused. The other is just cosmetic and I am digging into it with both hands. Watching this thread if anyone comes up with anything before me.

Yes I did. The first time I did the install all went well than I got a page cannot be viewed on one of the steps I don't remember which one. I have tried to drop the on DB entry, but I still can't complete the install.

I've had a few of the problems discussed in this thread, but have managed to get past them all but am now stuck at the point where it seems to be looking at templates.

mysql error number: 1062
Any ideas?

Casparian 01-05-2004 06:42 AM

Okay - skipped it and went to step 9, and everything seemed to go ok to the end but my vbindex.php page shows, well, almost nothing:
http://forums.wiccauk.com/vbindex.php

Have played with vboptions but can't seem to figure out whats going wrong. Am I being totally stupid (which would be about normal for me!)

Is what I get after installing all the files and pointing my browser to the upgrade script. What does this mean?

If you have either TWT's Shoutbox, or vBindex 2.x install the shouts will be converted to the vBindex 3 format during the installation :)

For those of you having errors with the installer, re-download the zip file, a few changes have been made which should correct the errors that alot of you are reporting, eg templates causing DB errors.

If the installer dies at any step, just re-visit that URL and it should continue for the majority of steps.

Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) errors are cause because you either A) haven't followed the clear instructions on the first step of the install process to edit vbiconfig.php or B) your upgrading from a different vBi version, in which case you need to change the CHDIR_PATH in vbiconfig.php, instructions are in the file.

deathemperor 01-05-2004 09:12 AM

what about the images don't display correctly ? I've tried to put the full url like: http://www.vb.org/forum/ or the $vboptions[bburl]/ but nothing takes effects.

SnowBot 01-05-2004 09:45 AM

ok i got it all installed and all works well apart from when i add BOTH blocks they seem to be aligned to the left and not centered under the navbar.

How can i correct this so that the online users welcome and shoutbox blocks are aligned in the centre of the navbar ?

thanks :)

corsacrazy 01-05-2004 11:07 AM

posible to make a wol fix ?

Unknown Location
/vbindex.php

also im having trouble deleting shouts they just stay there... cheers

NTLDR 01-05-2004 11:24 AM

A WOL hack is avalible at Core Forums.

I can't help people with image folders, if you don't know the URL to your own image folder there is no way on earth I'm going to. It should be a full URL containing no variables, suitable examples include:

corsacrazy 01-05-2004 11:26 AM

ok mate ill shoot to core forums and is there also a fix there for being able to delete my shouts ?

NTLDR 01-05-2004 11:27 AM

I haven't had any shoutbox deleting problems, so I'll look into that one :)

Blue Storm 01-05-2004 11:58 AM

I upgraded from the last version of this (which I could never get to work), but what file exactly tell me what to change in the new vbindex.php? All I got in your zip was a txt doc that told me where to upload stuff?

What do I actually put inot the vbindex?

corsacrazy 01-05-2004 12:08 PM

nuthin just upload vbindex to wher ur main website is

TLfuRy 01-05-2004 12:41 PM

I just downloaded this hack and tried to install, but when I run vbiupgrade.php I get a database error (no specific error listed, unfortunately). I have vB 3 RC1 with no other hacks installed.

Any ideas?

Chris Blount 01-05-2004 12:45 PM

The install was a little rough but everything seems to be working except the calendar.

I have an event scheduled on the 12th of January and the number isn't a link. Should it be?

Also, is the calendar only supposed to show Mon - Fri?

http://www.dbstalk.com

NTLDR 01-05-2004 12:56 PM

Yes, only monday to friday are supposed to show, otherwise the calendar becomes rediculously wide in comparision with the other blocks. Events will only show after the cron job for vBindex has run, this is added during the install and listed as vBindex Event Cache in the Schedualed Task Manager.

There is only only file edit to make, which is to vbiconfig.php to add the correct path to your forums, where the files should be uploaded is listed in Upload.txt.

If it didn't say what the database error was then it would have been emailed to you.

TLfuRy 01-05-2004 01:02 PM

Sorry I hadn't received the email yet when I posted that. Here's the error:

Database error in vBulletin Control Panel :

NTLDR 01-05-2004 01:24 PM

Thats a problem with your vBulletin and not vBindex.

TLfuRy 01-05-2004 01:26 PM

Great. I guess I won't be using vBindex since I doubt vBulletin will support an issue I'm having while installing a hack. :(

NTLDR 01-05-2004 01:29 PM

vBindex technically isn't a hack, as you don't modify any vB files. I'd suggest re-uploading all your files in the includes directory.

I did so, without success. :( I have no idea how my forum is messed up. It was a fresh install of Gamma, then upgraded last night to RC1 without incident.
