OK I found a solution to make it work.
I just replaced urlencode with utf8_encode and everything is fine now on my site.
didnt work for Arabic titles, return letters like this "??? ?? ????? ????? ??".

Iam not a coder, but I tried to add a function to convert text from windows-1256 to UTF8 and it worked.

That also makes sense since utf8_encode only handles ISO-8859-1.

I've made it so this version handles every form of character encoding and just makes them all utf-8 for simplicity. It'll also handle characters that shouldn't be in a URL. Google seems to be very picky about what comes after the q=

For those of you that were having issues, please let me know if this works and I'll update the product. Unfortunately I have no easy way to test this if you couldn't tell. :)

fyi, anyone looking to get this working on the mobile style, you just need to create new template under the mobile style, name is "see_more_gsearch", and copy the contents of the template with the same name in your main style into it. Google automatically adjusts things for smaller screens.

Hi all,

I need help with the plugin above. I installed the plugin on my site following the instructions but it did not work for me.

I cant see the ads and I cannot see the Google Search bar.

I followed all the instructions as I was told to do so.

One stupid question Do I need to have the Vbulleting integration with Google adsense in order to this plugin to work?

I dont have that option integrated between both plataform.

Another thing is my forum site is in Portuguese, I am not sure if it affects anything because of the language.

Thank you!

try the product file in this post: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=122

what happens when you go to yoursite.com/gsearch.php? Make sure that you followed the instructions exactly for the CSE setup and that you have your settings set correctly.

No, you don't need the adsense integration - no one does. haha

Why not install it on your site or a test site and test it out?

The two sites mentioned in the first post have it installed.

Gadget_Guy 12-23-2014 08:13 PM

Just installed on my site.

Working fine so far.

For those that can help guide me.....

How can I track the mod via Adsense and Google Analytics?

Anything I need to add or change to see what the results are?

For those that are using the pro version.... Did you enable this for your members?

What about using the adsense search instead of the VB search? Any negative feedback?

If you enabled it for members, did you get any negative feedback? I get enough grief having ad banners for members to the point where I only have a footer ad for members. Guests have full ads everywhere.

D.

Alan_SP 12-24-2014 02:54 PM

I track it in AdSense, you have special report for custom channels as this mod uses custom search integration. So, money earned with this mod you'll see there. Don't know about GA, didn't checked where info would be shown.

And you don't need to do anything (of course, you need to install this mod following instructions and conect custom search with AdSense).

Can you tell me how you did this? I cant seem to figure out how to connect this search to a custom channel...

Alan_SP 12-25-2014 11:38 AM

You don't do that. You just need to configure custom search how do you like it and in tab Make money you need to associate it with your AdSense ID. After that everything works, ads shown on your custom search pages are linked to your account.

joeychgo 12-25-2014 11:51 AM

I believe I am. I'm showing ads: (see: http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparf...s-street-strip)

I just don't know if its connected to a custom channel or not, or does it do that automatically?

Alan_SP 12-25-2014 03:05 PM

If you just show ads, that means nothing. Google shows ads until you purchase option without ads. Only thing is, if Google shares earnings with you or not. You need to connect your AdSense account to receive some money from your these ads.

As I said, you do this in Custom Search CP->Choose your site (I have more than one, if you have only one maybe you don't need to choose your site)->Setup->Make Money. In that tab (Make Money) you connect your AdSense account.

If you did that, you see your AdSense ID there. And money starts to come. And it's not channel. It's type of product.

Go and see custom search ACP, it would be much clearer there what you should do.

You can ignore this as long as the ID is correct

You can't add additional ad units on the search results page, no. The ads that are displayed should already have your ads displayed, so you really don't need any more ads.

For GA, there is a report under Behavior > Site Search - the query parameter is still q , so nothing should have to be changed.

You can modify the template 'see_more_gsearch_form'

I am associated -- the only thing is the revenue doesn't show under the custom channels like was said earlier, it shows under the Products tab

To get a custom channel I believe you have to set things up initially in Adsense. There is no way to do it from the CSE control panel.

very thanks for your reply , what if i want yo edit gsearch.php and insert ad code to be as part of the page is it possible

Alan_SP 12-27-2014 02:03 PM

What ads are you talking?

It already has one ad in navbar and one ad in footer. This is standard Google AdSense integration within vBulletin. You can also made money from integrating GCS with AdSense.

The result of of search appear in gsearch.php page , what i mean how i can edit this page to make anther unit of adsense appear in this page in addation to ad appear by defult by google search engine

Alan_SP 12-27-2014 07:02 PM

Actually, results are shown in template see_more_gsearch, gsearch.php file serves to create this template. You need to edit see_more_gsearch to make changes you want to make, but this template already includes navbar and footer, "usual suspects" for showing AdSense ads in most configurations.

If you don't use navbar and footer for this, than you can manually enter AdSense code in this template on place(s) you like.

Just don't forget that by AdSense TOS you can have up to three ads on one page. That don't includes GCS ads.

Alan_SP 12-28-2014 03:18 PM

You can't place code inside search results, only outside. And, if everything is as it should be, as I already said two times, it is so by default (navbar and footer). You don't need to do anything.

If you don't see ads, something isn't setup as it should be. I can't say what.
