this plugin does not stop spammers registering on your forums

da_judge 11-07-2013 08:54 PM

i just stops the members awaiting email... if they get no email... no join :)

There are 1000's of spammers out there that can confirm their email this alone won't stop them

maupassant 11-21-2013 05:40 AM

I have just installed the product. When I go to AdminCP > Settings > Options, there is no "Verify Mail Before Registration" listed.

vBulletin version : 4.2.2

There is for me and I use 4.2.2?.

maupassant 11-21-2013 03:06 PM

Too bad. I assume there must be a conflict with another mod I have installed.

shots 11-22-2013 06:23 PM

Is there a way to add human verification to this to help reduce the bot initiated bounce backs?

EDT: BTW, working fine for me on 4.2.2... other things are not working (quickreply) but that is not the fault of the addon
EDT2: I would be willing to pay a bounty to get the built in Human verification system working with this addon... anyone else willing to pitch in?
EDT3: I would also love to see a loggin feature similar to the Stop Form Spam addon that lists date/time, email address attempted, and ipadress. That way as people try to use bogus addresses we can ban ip's. I would put this after human verification in priority of features added.

BirdOPrey5 01-04-2014 11:12 PM

Mod restored from quarantine- all new downloads in first post.

This is due to a bot trying to use an email with a apostrophe in it. apparently, this ad-on does not per-qualify emails that well before submitting. I did PM the author and I know he did update.

After the update I have not received any more of these. when you updated the add-on did you remember to check the ove-write box?

Not needed as bots can bypass it anyway. Also you have this option built in, default vb settings

Hi there,

This is a great mod, it has stopped about 90% of spammers and I don't get dead users any more.

There is one glitch that I have found though:

When a user types their email in and closes the page. If they come back it displays:

HTML Code:

Registration was done by this email, but the email was not activated.
We advice you to ensure that the activation code is not in your junk mail before requesting it again

And it shows three buttons below "Yes, I want to request the code again", "I found the code, thank you" and "Complete Registraton". The first two don't do anything at all and the third refreshes the page.

ForceHSS 01-30-2014 10:34 PM

All 3 options do what they say for me

Do you know what could possibly cause this? I would like to fix it.

Thank you.

It is because it doesn't include the additional.css. You can add it manually in the templates.

K!nG 03-12-2014 01:16 AM

I have been getting a lot of errors lately. As far as i can recall last time checked with vb.com and was told to update to latest version and i did and even after that i been getting errors ;

Database error in vBulletin 4.2.2:

Invalid SQL:

After reading last couple of posts i tried to uninstall and did the fresh install once again just to see if that will fix anything, however when i uninstalled it. I got an error email again which is as follows;

Database error in vBulletin 4.2.2:

Invalid SQL:
DELETE FROM userregcode WHERE dayscounter < 1394586296 AND wheretoapply = 0;

MySQL Error : Table 'dxxxx_xxxxx.userregcode' doesn't exist

I do understand 2nd error is for table because i removed it however wants to know what's the proper way to uninstall it in case fresh install still doesn't fix my issue and i ended up uninstalling it or any fix for both of them.

Thanks.
