What fatal message are you getting? Is that something different than "Warning" you published last time?

Network-HQ 01-03-2012 07:54 PM

The same message as in my last post.
Code:

Hi there,

Platform Shared Key: REQUIRED, Unique string taken from vBSSO plugin (settings page) installed on the connected platform
Using vb Forum 4.06, from where do I get this unique string? Trying to connect with the "simplekey" gives me a blank page in the adminCP.

Best regards

Leica, key could be any word like a password shared between vBulletin and WordPress. The configuration instructions are available at http://vbsso.com/platforms/vbulletin/ and http://vbsso.com/platforms/wordpress/

I did it like it's described. But clicking on Connet in vB, I get a white page and nothing is connected. So I think there must be a fault. Maybe because I have once a time the same user name in vB and WP? If the password is the same, I don't know.

Thanks for your help, best regards

Hi, could you please open vBulletin -> admincp -> vBSSO -> Logging & Notifications -> Logging Level -> All, specify your email address, try to connect a platform again and send me private message of the log information delivered to your email for further investigation?

owning_y0u 01-07-2012 04:19 PM

is this also going to work with wordpress install where the buddypress plugin is installed?

owning_y0u, plugin works when the buddypress plugin is installed as well.

Nevermind, we solved the login "inconvenience" with a WP plugin.

Hi,

I've installed this mods successfully, unfortunately the avatar still not imported yet. I checked in "forum.domain.com/vbsso/assets/images/avatar", and no file found on this directory.

Is there any missing steps that I have done so far?

Thank you,

Thank you,

udhien, vBSSO doesn't actually import avatars. The concept of avatars implemented in vBSSO is to address an avatar request to a certain avatar url published by vBulletin, No copying of files physically.

Thank you for the answer.

The situation is in vbulletin my profile already has an avatar, when I tried to make a comment in some article/post (wordpress engine), my avatar didn't show in that comment.

FYI that the wordpress installed in own folder (http://mydomain.com/wordpress) - not in the root folder.

Is there any custom config in VBSSO that I need to modified?

Thank you very much

We recommend to follow the instructions available at http://vbsso.com/platforms/wordpress/. The screen shots are available there and make sure that "Fetch and Show vBulletin Avatars" option is checked on vBSSO WordPress configuration side.

AlbertAtTheory 01-20-2012 01:13 PM

Got this up and running rather easily on my site. I did need to make sure to have rewrites enabled so that both Wordpress and vBulletin defaulted with a www. in front of the domain otherwise I ran into issues with the cookies being recognized across both platforms.

I turned on e-mail logging and am getting a bunch of errors regarding "localEmailLogger" Most of the errors are saying "Communication: Unable to accept response:" Everything seems to be working fine though, so should I just ignore this error?

Also, any ETA on a Drupal version? Would love to see this happen very soon!

We don't recommend to ignore these errors if they are thrown during platform connection phase. Also the debug information found there could point you to the source of the error.

Regarding the ETA, we just have been contributing to vBSSO depending on the team availability time. therefore we cannot guarantee the certain ETA date. We cay say that we have Drupal in our priority tasks list to get it connected.

After following the instructions, vBulletin keeps telling me that it is unable to verify the platform. I read through all the responses here and nothing seems to work.

Your help would be appreciated.

udhien 01-22-2012 12:02 AM

please provide your wordpress url, vbulletin url and also the screenshoots in your wp and vbulletin side.

i'll trying to help based on my experience

BWG22 01-22-2012 12:26 AM

I'll get it for you in a moment, but the logger says "Communication: Platform returned error http status code:403"

whitey10tc 01-22-2012 12:36 AM

Would this work as a bridge between two forums
forum 1
wordpress (as the registration site for both forums)
forum 2

Any ideas

If you enable logging according to the instructions available at http://vbsso.com/platforms/vbulletin/ "Enable Logging" and send me a private message for review, I would be able to point you to the source of the issue.

We recommend to check the url you are trying to connect platform through to ensure it is accessible. 403 is forbidden.

Unfortunately this feature wouldn't start working out of the box.

Both WordPress and vB URL's are accessible. Still getting the error message.

The plug-in is telling me to use this URL.

http://mydomain.com/wp-content/plugins/vbsso/vbsso.php

When I go to the page manually, I get this:

Quote:

{"product":4,"version":"3.3.1"}
Looks like it may not be a permission issue, any thoughts?

Thanks

Right. We actually faced the similar issue with other guys too, where the reason was in their hosting provider. There was a configuration blocked internal requests and they had to change their hosting environment. So, that's not really a software issue and we recommend to figure this out with your hosting provider.

Thank you,

Thank you,

My hosting provider responded with this:

Quote:

If I could get some technical information about how it works and what it does behind the scenes, I might be able to identify the problem and fix it. A simple 403 Forbidden message tells me nothing without some context as to what the system was trying to do.

Briefly telling the plugin installed on vBulletin side actually opens CURL connection to WordPress platform and gets response error code 403 Forbidden. From other side vBSSO WordPress url/page is accessible outside if somebody opens it in a browser as usual, thus something blocks the requests initiated by CURL PHP library to host where WordPress is installed. You might like explaining this to your hosting provider, so, let them take a look at source code or give me access to your environment(if it's possible) to test this out on a quick sample and show this to your hosting provider then. Please don't hesitate to send me a private message if you want to be in touch according to your environment.

It should be, at least it works on our vBulletin 4.1.10 and 3.3.x installations.

insidegames 02-11-2012 02:52 PM

Nice, thank you!

Kaelon 02-11-2012 09:35 PM

Any chances that support for vBulletin 3.8.x might be forthcoming? A large number of boards, especially Big Boards, are still relying on vB 3.8.x given its general stability over vB 4.

Mostly. I recently switched over to storing stylesheets as files and found that unless I turn this mod off while I'm saving those changes, it'll say that it can't write to the stylesheet directories. Ownership and permissions are fine and it saves the stylesheets as it should when this mod is disabled.

It is pretty annoying to have to remember to shut this off every time I touch something else that will force a stylesheet save. Anyone else have this issue?

FreshFroot 02-29-2012 05:34 AM

This looks really interesting..

I have a custom made CMS of my own, and I might see if I can integrate it with vB.

We are still collecting the votes to make this vB 3.8 compatible. If somebody wants to have this version, you are welcome to leave the comments here.

I guess you have no documentation on how we can integrate out own scripts with VBSSO and vBulletin?

Eg. my own CMS integrated with vB

If that's your own CMS and you would like to integrate it with vBulletin through vBSSO, I would be able to send you a brief API list and let your developers to work on this. If you are interested in this, just send me your contacts to PM.

Confirmed, unfortunately we had to uninstall the mod because of it.
