We believe we have identified the issue, and are testing a fix, we should be able to get an update out tomorrow to resolve the issue for everybody.

arrow816 08-03-2011 03:04 AM

I can not wait until tis is fixed and working.

One question is it possible to customize the look?
Also does it take its style from the forum skin being used or is it the standard white bar as shown ?

istvan 08-03-2011 06:51 AM

i installed this, but somehow the chat only shows up after i hit F5 is that a knows issue?

There are style vars in place to allow you to customize the look some, but any major changes you would like to make would need to be done in the css itself.

I'm not sure what the issue is here... F5 is a refresh key (In most browsers), and obviously the bar should show after it has been installed and you have refreshed the page.

Am I missing something in your statement?

Version 1.1.1 of Ideal Chat Lite has now been released.

If you are running an older version, please update as version 1.1.1 contains several bug fixes that will improve performance!

If you we're having the issue with the friends list, settings, and chatroom links not working, please try this new version. If you still have those issues using version 1.1.1, please let us know so we can investigate further.

danhaga 08-03-2011 02:27 PM

1.1.1 solved my initial problems. Here are the new ones:

-When I click on a friend online and send a message it doesn't show up for myself or them unless I refresh the page. Does not show up real time.

-Chatroom does the same thing.

-Getting lots of Error: Reload messages

-Id still like to see everyone online, not just friends.

Do you have a link where we could see this?

Question: Where I can translate the word: 'You'

DNCL 08-03-2011 05:48 PM

I think this version is stable, testing it now.

Sorry, that word actually wasn't phrased apparently. I will make a note of that right now so that the next version will have it phrased.

Going to try this on test :)

arrow816 08-03-2011 08:15 PM

I have installed the new version.

The tabs appear but I am not able to actually open a chat window.
I have disabled all other mods.

www.tbngc.co.uk/forum and i am using 4.1.0 PL2
I have currently disabled it and returned to vbshout

DNCL 08-04-2011 01:56 PM

Error: please reload is very annoying, i have DBTech VBSHOUT installed and when connection drops or times out it keep retrying till it catch the connection again and list the updates and chats but the chat once it loses connection there is no way to get back until i reload the whole page and that's annoying comparing it to facebook, please consider adding something to the script so it keep trying to reach the connection once it lose it.

Thanks :)

We found a bug that causes the "Error: please reload" error to show up when it shouldn't. A fix is already made, and the new version will be uploaded soon!

arrow816 08-04-2011 10:01 PM

Seems its not just an error on my side.

I really want to purchase the premium option but atm until i can even make sure lite will work I dont really want to spend money for something I cant use.

Also do you still want to look as if its not jsut me im guessing there is an error in the mod again.
[ps i checked the 1.1.2 version still the same error with every thing disabled]

basilrath 08-05-2011 05:22 AM

4.1.5

im still getting the sending request on and on

that said it shows the bar and stuff

wullieclsfb 08-05-2011 05:37 PM

is there no option to show as offline?

DNCL 08-05-2011 06:59 PM

Error: please reload is still there.

Yes, we would still appreciate being able to see this error in action as we haven't been able to replicate it.

If you wouldn't mind, we would also appreciate being able to see this error in action too!

A user can show as offline for the chat by turning the bar off via the settings. In future releases, we may include a way to show as offline even with the bar on, but for now that is not an option.

Hmm... Right now the only way you should see that is if you fail to connect 5 times in a row over a 3 minute period.

Does your internet have connection issues?
Does your website not always load correctly?
Have you ensured that you have the newest JavaScript by hitting CTRL+F5?

according to Firebug there's an error in shared.js on line 11 whenever either a username or Chat Room is clicked-

Quote:

scope.getElementsByTagName is not a function

arrow816 08-05-2011 08:42 PM

Ignore,
You already noticed

sapphiremagus 08-05-2011 09:15 PM

Chrome is also throwing an issue with shared.js on line 11:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'nodeValue' of null

Not sure if that's relevant to anything, though. I haven't had time to test it fully but the chatroom doesn't load for me - rather, nothing happens when I click on the chatroom tab.

You most likely have the "Add Template Name in HTML Comments" setting turned on. We suggest turning that setting off for now. We will be looking into why that is causing the script to break.

arrow816 08-05-2011 11:54 PM

Following should be in the lite version also [if not already in pro then pro too]

Message Delete [Ability to delete messages]
Archive [Ability too see and search old messages]
User Mute [Ability to mute but user can still see chat]
Smiliey Button [Cause no convo is decent with at a smiley dude]
BBcode support [Really should be a basic I would think]
Message Characters [Character Amount Setting]

Maybe have a little expansion button on the side that brings up an advanced chat window with like the basic vb text box to make it easier if you have a few things to right

Really i was thin

Yeah, it's on our test/dev site where we pretty much have all the debugging options running. That does explain why (after installing on the live site) the chat room works on the live site and not the dev site.

dog199200 08-06-2011 03:28 AM

I have tested this on my forum, and so far i like it, but i have a small problem that I can't seem to figure out. How is the bar called?

The reason I ask is because I build an entire website around the forums internal user core (basically a custom CMS), and i don't just want the bar to show on the forum, but on all parts of the website. I haven't found any documentation on how to do this ad would like to know if its possible.

strudinox 08-06-2011 04:58 AM

Much better! Installed 1.2 and it's working fine on every page except for my CMS pages. Currently using 4.1.5 Suite.

Smile :-) 08-06-2011 06:42 AM

great mod!

In RTL languages, the nick of the sender is on the text.
the fix is simple:

HTML Code:

.icbb_chat_tab .messagearea > div > span.sender {
/*        margin-left: -10px;*/
        margin-left: 10px;
        font-weight: bold;
}

by the way, the "You:" in the messages is hard-coded, please convert it to a phrase so we will be able to translate it.

Thanks!

arrow816 08-06-2011 03:56 PM

Question,
Im guessing this is coded in Java,

I wondered why it was not done with ajax or flash as I am sure the support and fixing to work with vb would have been much easier and safer

Everything on that list is already planned to be added, or is already in the pro version; however, at this point, we have no plans of adding BBcode or Smilies to the lite version.

We have been told that it doesn't work on the CMS, but we haven't actually been able to see any of the configurations that cause it to not work. If either one of you two would like to give us a link and an account to test with, we would gladly try to debug the issue.

The front-end is coded using JavaScript and Push AJAX, not Java.

My sites not exactly a CMS, its an actual website. I just used the direct database access to call information from the forum. That's why i was trying to figure out how it was being called. Anyways my sites url is http://www.divineshadowsonline.com/ and if you need an account just PM me and i'll give you the information you'd need.

clubvr4 08-06-2011 08:40 PM

Is there anyway to disable the noise on the "Chat room" tab? - its very annoying when multiple people are talking - its advantageous for private messages, but can we have an option to disable on the chat room?!

Thanks!

Loving it so far!

Oh, okay, if you would like to show it on your main site also, then you will need to include the JavaScript and CSS files for the bar, and then place the html near the bottom of your footer. If you would like, we can do this for you for a small fee. If you would like us to do this for you, please contact us via PM.

That is a good idea, we will add it to the list of features to implement!

clubvr4 08-06-2011 08:58 PM

Hai! me again.

Would it be possible to add an option to have everyone on the friend list, rather than your friends? - we have a small(ish) forum and its a bit of a pain having to add everyone as friends to allow each other to chat.

Thanks!

No it's fine, i can do it on my own. If you don't mind, where in the style does the javascript get stored? My problem is that i've had a hard time finding any of it within my template
