mbentley 08-02-2011 12:01 PM

Maybe it is just me, but when I user the inline moderation tools to 'Delete Posts as Spam' and then choose to 'Submit data to Anti-Spam Service' and then proceed to ban the user, everything submits correctly but when I am returned to the thread which contains the post, the cookie 'vbulletin_inlinepost' is not cleared. Same goes for when I 'Delete Threads as Spam'.

I would have to guess that something is causing the problem from a plugin standpoint where it isn't running the setcookie code to clear it. On the forums I am having the problem on, both 'Akismet: Auto-submit from Moderation Tools' and 'StopForumSpam: Auto-submit from Moderation Tools' are set to 'Yes'. Any idea what might be causing this or a possible workaround? Having to go back and uncheck the post/thread adds another annoying step to dealing with spammers.

*edit: i did some further testing and it only fails to clear the cookies when 'StopForumSpam: Auto-submit from Moderation Tools' is set to 'Yes'. Setting it to 'No' allows the cookie to be cleared as expected.

I.M.O.G. 08-02-2011 06:42 PM

I am not sure mbentley, however I have seen the same behavior on other forums when auto-submit from moderation tools is set to yes. I have to manually select "deselect posts" from the moderation dropdown after I use "Delete as Spam" and it completes processing.

I don't know why its happening either, but the auto-submit is very useful, and a fix would be great.

VB 3.8.4 Patch Level 2.

Installed and working 100%.
One hour and already 12 spammers blocked.

squidsk 08-11-2011 04:48 PM

Its working fine with VB 3.8.7 PL2 .

Three suggestions I have.

1) Have different time settings for email checks as opposed to username/IP checks. The reason being that an email that is created to spam is not likely to be re-purposed for legitimate use while IP addresses and usernames can actually be used legitimately.

2) In the log have options to only show blocked/allowed registrations

3) Log threads/posts that are moderated so its easy to see what threads/posts this plugin is affecting

Excellent mod!!

hipgirl 08-21-2011 05:47 AM

Just installed on 3.8.3. Posted a couple of test threads. Seems working fine.

Thanks.

I am having a problem with valid users being blocked, where only the username is picked up as a spammer, but often generic names, like the firstname Ernest. How do I set not to only scan on username, or when people report this how can I whitelist them?

Would like to know if this is an option as well. If not, where can I edit this text so I can add to it letting valid users to now what to do if they get this warning:

Registration denied, this forum runs an active policy of not allowing spammers. Please contact us via the "Contact Us" page link if you believe this is in error

Just installed this, have to say (so far) awesome Mod. Exactly what I was looking for.

Pretty easy, under the GlowHost options (in Vbulletin options) set StopForumSpam: Username Check to Disabled. I had StopForumSpam installed before and had the same problem (legit users trying to register as Matt, etc I guess).

Sounds like you didn't copy the files into the correct locations when uploading them to your server.

jcodemasters 09-01-2011 11:11 PM

Does this work on VB 3.6.X?

squidsk 09-02-2011 04:32 PM

If you check the OP is says it works in 3.6 PL1.

We're on 3.8.2. This mod, we're pretty sure, is intermittently causing duplicate posts (with consecutive postids) when using Quick Reply.

It's due to deprecation of "TYPE" in mySQL 5.5 since you are running MySQL Version : 5.5.21.

See here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...-DBalter-class

You (or the mod author) will have to change any references to "TYPE" in the product to "ENGINE".

From what I can see in the product, you'll need to change line 28 & line 37.

Tested working fine with VB3.8.7 patch level 2

Had to make a small change to the XML files sql syntax for it to import, so if you get SQL error whilst importing the XML file, make the changes mentioned below.

In product-glowhostspamomatic.xml

FIND:
Code:

) TYPE=MyISAM; ');
REPLACE WITH:
Code:

) TYPE=ENGINE; ');
SAVE AND RE IMPORT XML FILE, ENJOY :)

Thank you for your enthusiasm but since this mod is not marked as "re-usable code" you are not allow to release your own version of the mod so I had to remove your attachment.

Feel free to give instructions on what you changes however so others can try it themselves if they run into problems.

Is there a log or a way to see if it is working?

I installed it yesterday and noticed my registrations have dropped considerably. Some are getting in but I would really like to know if it is working properly.

Yes...down in the log section in AdminCP
