I got my icons loaded up, but the icons are blurry. What did I do wrong?

EnderNolan 06-23-2010 02:50 AM

My sub-forums are mis-aligned now. Can anyone advise on if they are having this problem? I've only changed the default skin, wanted to play with this hack before putting it on my other skins, but now I'm happy I did.

If I could make sweet love to this mod I would, religiously.

Until then I will have to settle for saying THANKS, it looks awesome, clicked, nominated, and Excellent rated. It's a great mod for the creative people who just want an easy way to give their forums a more customized look.

What are the sizes of your icons?

Looks as though the template edit isn't correct.

New release, just redo the template edits and let me know.

The ones that are blurry, I don't know, but they are in .ico format. I downloaded some 256k .png icons and they worked good, no blurriness.

One question though, how do I update this mod? I'm really new to vbulletin, but I managed to install the mod myself. Do I just download the mod again and copy/paste the code again and then upload the xml file or just upload the new xml file? Thanks

ico formats are NOT supported. For all updates read above as it explains how to go through the process. Can you please click on "Mark as Installed" to continue support?

Thx,
Bob

Dark_Wizard 06-23-2010 02:55 PM

It would be nice if people would click on "Mark As Installed" to help support this mod and if you feel it is worthy clicking on "Nominate for MOTM" would be great!

Thx,
Bob

with this often of updates, you really need to start doing template edits built into the plugin. Becoming a pain to have to keep reverting and redoing the changes.

I would love to do auto template edits but look how complicated this hack has become. This should be the last update unless I missed something that would cause a big problem for everyone.

Hmmmm...there is a way though to make this easier. I can have it replace the entire 2 templates with it's own templates.

texasteamplayer 06-23-2010 04:01 PM

you'll need at least one more update.

when you double click on any forum icon, it marks the ENTIRE forum as read, not just that specific forum/subforum. the orignial vB function just marks that one forum read.

Thank you for the super fast response and solution to the problem. This has rectified my sub-forum display problem. Nominated for MOTM because this is an awesome Mod and the Coder responds to support requests promptly. Thanks for this!

The lock ions work as advertised, Bob. Nice add-on. I do have a question, though. Shouldn't the icons show without transparency to unregistered users? They are showing the default 50% for unregistered users.

EnderNolan 06-23-2010 06:54 PM

I went live with them today. Some members have asked if they can turn them off. Maybe a feature that allows members to activate or deactivate them at their discretion. Nothing that has to be added immediately, but just a thought.

Also, maybe if you could make it so you could set the icon location for each skin, one skin have them replace the status icon and another under the forum title, for example.

Also, what does this feature adjust in the options settings?

Set this option to specify which Category Icon is to be positioned.
I've set it to all of the options and I don't see any change.

I'll double check my code...

Hmmm, style dependant, I would have to think that one out. As for member activate/deavtivate which piece are you talking about?

The "Forum/SubForum Category Icon Positioning" is just that, it allows you to specify which one you are needing to re-position in case of a hack you are using that is causing them to skew off a bit. 99.9% of the time this option won't be needed but is there just in case. ;)

Boofo 06-23-2010 07:57 PM

It sounds like he is asking for an option for individual users to turn the forum icons on and off. I don't think that would be a very good idea myself, but to each his own.

EnderNolan 06-23-2010 09:42 PM

Yes, Boofo is correct. While I like this mod, some of the members felt it was too 'busy' for their liking. As such, they wanted to know if they could turn off the feature. Right now, I think to work around it, I will create duplicate skins and leave the code out of one version so they can select a skin that doesn't have this feature in the code.

Boofo 06-23-2010 09:45 PM

The only bad thing about that is if they visit other forums that have this mod, they will expect the same treatment in return. I, for one, won't use something like that as when they get used to certain icons for certain areas, it will actually be easier for them to get around the forums.

I think this is the best option, just use the same skin but rename it and let the members choose. To code something like this would take considerable time which I am not really willing to put into this mod as I have already added many, many features that surpass the others. Sorry.

Trek 06-24-2010 04:39 PM

Just installed, works great!

Only suggestion I have at this point is a way to make it so that the icons are theme specific. Right now they dump into the /images folder. I'd like it to be /images/{theme} so I can have different icons per theme. Not a huge issue really though. =)

Installed and all that good stuff.

Bob, any word yet on the unregistered users seeing the transparent icons?

Didn't get to it yet. Had many personal things to do yesterday. I will get to it today.

Edit...not sure this is doable. The way the lock icons work in my hack is the status icon is set as a background image and the lock overlays it. I just tried to make it work. One thought is to not show the icons and use the default instead for unregistered users.

That mod doesn't compare to this at all. Not even close....please do not contaminate someones mod with this, very unprofessional.

Edit: I see you have done this to other mods as well. Your post has been reported.

I was referring to only the transparent part of it, the rest needs to stay the same. The icons shouldn't be transparent for unregistered users as they don't have the read markers, do they?

ShadyUS 06-25-2010 11:29 PM

Do these work on 4.0.1?
