I'm just coming to the end of an experiment I ran skimlinks for 2 weeks and i'm just coming to the end of 2 weeks with viglink, unless something comes through over the next week to increase the revenue from viglink it wil not beat the revenue from skimlinks.

ausjeepo 07-25-2011 11:28 PM

I migrated from Driving revenue to Viglink and from what the dashboard is saying its much better. Couple of questions though...

Given I migrated, I previously had the code stripped into my template manually, does this download above just do the same thing? Am I ok staying on what Im on?

Secondly, I noticed you can potentially get paid for commissions on ebay sales, saw this at the bottom of the dashboard. How do I get paid for this? I ask as it shows some people buying items that were linked via my site yet no comissions?

My site is ausjeepoffroad.com

StonePilot 07-26-2011 05:19 PM

ebay commissions were broken and I dropped 90% in revenue from Driving Revenue. Did this get fixed?

Skimlinks is a worthless joke. I was making like $1 per day.

thecore762 08-12-2011 06:32 AM

Question VigLink, if someone clicks one of your links, but they buy a different product at that time, will you still earn a commission or do they have to buy the specific product to be able to earn that commission?
Also lets say the person clicks the link but they don't buy the product now, but they end up buying it on a later time, do you still get commission for the original referral?
Thanks in advance!

Some of the sites for viglink you have to manually send them an email to get approved for but there is no list to tell you which ones. I had to do it for ebay, then I checked walmart and saw that also wasn't covered so I just disabled it. Who knows what merchants you get covered for and which ones you don't. They should be upfront about this or at least have a list that tells you which ones you are approved for.

See for yourself.. go to http://www.viglink.com/tools/coverage and type in http://www.ebay.com

You will get:
"That merchant is covered, but not for everyone. Links from your site will not be affiliated unless access has been granted by the merchant. If you'd like to request access, please email us."

Viglink, please make it easier to see which merchants are covered.

Wow. I"m glad I read this thread. That's why my revenue dropped. It's eBay. E-mail sent!

Installed but encountering huge headaches with the Viglink IRS form - unless this is filled in properly I understand that Viglink will make no payments, correct? I'm based in Europe, as an individual rather than a corporation (W-8 ECI ??). I have to fill in the address for American business and tax id number on the Viglink IRS form... are these details supposed to be Viglink business details? If so, please post a link so I know I input them correctly. I am completely unfamiliar with the US tax system and have never had to fill out anything like this before with other affiliate programs. A quick dummies guide through would be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
D

SamirDarji 10-22-2011 03:30 AM

I'd get in touch with viglink as I'm not sure how the US tax reporting would be for a European company. If you talk to Julian, tell him Samir says hi. :)

How would we use this for guests only?

Why would you want to? The user can't tell the difference if it's on or not unless you use the link insertion option.

Samir is correct in that VigLink link affiliation is very unobtrusive. The experience of a visitor on your site won't change if you are affiliating your outbound links using VigLink.

If you have VigLink link insertion turned on, and would like inserted links to only appear for guests (and not registered users), you can add class="nolinks" to any page element to disable inserted links.

This can be done on an individual post basis or at the page level by adding it to the body tag <body class="nolinks">

On vBulletin, you can take advantage of the yahoo dom event js to add the class name from a footer conditional. For example:

<if condition="(!$show['guest'])"> $footer .= '<script type="text/javascript"> YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady( function() { YAHOO.util.Dom.addClass( document.body, "nolinks" ); } ); </script>';
</if>

Hope this helps!

chrisngrod 12-25-2011 08:13 PM

I just submitted an email to Viglink. Unsure of all links being affiliated cause I just have Viglink enabled for Tapatalk sites.

EDIT: Viglink reponds quickly and everything is setup perfectly. Thanks.

Jonm 01-25-2012 10:28 AM

can you run this and skimlinks at the same time?

ajustesen 01-25-2012 10:48 PM

Does exactly as advertised thank for the perfectly simple addon!

Hi there -- Anna here w/ VigLink. If you are testing the two solutions, we recommend you test each separately because the two services act on links within your content in a similar way (and both are javascript add-ons). Long-term, it's rare (if not non-existent) that a site would run both in parallel.

Let us know if we can be of help in getting you set-up -- or answering any other integration / testing questions!

Cheers,
Anna

deverill2010 01-26-2012 05:15 PM

Anna are you from the company? If so I have a question it's not really related to this mod, well more about your product.

I run skimlinks on the main site but have viglinks associated with tapatalk, are they able to run alongside each other like that?

Yes, Anna here again and I am with VigLink. In the scenario you describe above they will be able to run alongside each other -- the implementations are distinct and will not interfere with one another.

Let me know if we can help with anything else (or if you ever want to test VigLink on your full site)!

Best,
Anna

Sucks that it wont work with 3.8.7

BlueCheri 03-07-2012 04:58 AM

Setting for using viglinks to particular forums?

G!

bandit022 03-28-2012 02:21 PM

Doesn't seem to be working on vbulletin 4.1.11 Patch Level 1

API key is correct in my settings but VigLink's installation check still says "VigLink was not detected"

Any ideas?

bandit022 03-28-2012 03:54 PM

Nevermind. The installation check is now showing it to be installed correctly. I suppose it takes a while to start working?

HFB 06-04-2012 06:24 PM

Is there a conditional I can use so it excludes the reputation link in the postbit legacy? We're using it on a vb 3.6.8 forum and it breaks the javascript from e-steki Karma version 2.2 in Opera. Thanks.

scottct1 06-14-2012 12:01 AM

I use this Plugin... was on Driving Revenue but switched over to this plugin and removed the old Driving Revenue Plugin a long time ago.

Anyways tonight I got the following email from Viglink.

Quote:

Hello,

We are reaching out as we noticed you are still using the DrivingRevenue JavaScript, and unfortunately this feature will no longer be supported after July 1st, 2012, due to changes outside of our control.

So, we very much need for you to implement the VigLink JavaScript on satelliteguys.us and use this instead of the DrivingRevenue JavaScript. After July 1, clicks will not affiliate through the DrivingRevenue JavaScript, and you may get errors as a result of its use. We expect that you will see performance improvements from using the VigLink JavaScript anyway, so this move should be beneficial for multiple reasons.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Otherwise, you can obtain the VigLink JavaScript bootstrap by navigating to the Install tab of your dashboard and installing it directly onto your sites by pasting it just before the closing body tag in the site's HTML.

Thank you in advance and we appreciate your attention to this important update.

Best,

Brian
I can not find that I am running any of the old Driving Revenue script, the only script I am running is the one inserted by this plugin.

Does this Plugin need to be updated?

SamirDarji 06-16-2012 04:40 AM

Yes, this plugin probably needs to be updated. Viglink bought out Driving Revenue a long time ago. I'd update the code to the current one from the Viglink site and you'll be good to go. :)

GamBun 06-20-2012 10:42 AM

Cannot import for 4.2.x yet. Please let us know ETA on update???

SamirDarji 06-21-2012 03:55 PM

I'd go to Viglink's web site and let them know. I don't think they get on here much.

IchibanAccord 09-12-2012 08:39 PM

Installed thank you!

This is what I need, I don't want to drive away my loyal members with the appearance of more links, I'm using the link insertion and I'd only like it to be available to guests.

I've got a question, on which template(s) would I insert the class="nolinks" code, and where?

And this would not affect any manual link posted by members, correct? Only the VigLink insertion?

Thanks

scottct1 04-04-2013 12:00 PM

If you could come up with a version of this plugin which lets me specify the usergroups for the Viglink Insert that would be great and I would enable Viglink Insert on my sites.

But there are usergroups I don't want to see links, but other usergroups I do want them to see them.

I do however want Viglink convert on for the entire site.

VigLink_OD 04-05-2013 12:36 AM

Hi there - Oliver D from VigLink here. Scott, this is a common request, and thanks for raising it. We've actually built this into the vBulletin 5 integration. For vB4, your best option is to email us at support@viglink.com so we can discuss some customization options.

craigvm 06-12-2013 08:56 PM

i`ll give it a go an if i earn nothing i`ll just uninstall as i do use the ebay partner network adds too

sweptwingnut 08-13-2013 07:11 PM

Downloaded. Installed. 3.8.7pl3

Thanks!

vlrick 09-19-2013 05:38 PM

Great news! We've just released Version 2.0 of the VigLink Mod. We now offer enhanced controls. For example, forums can now enable or disable VigLink Insert for specific user groups, such as guests or registered users. The same goes for VigLink Convert, and control also extends to specific forum IDs. Download and install the new mod to get these enhanced controls and let us know what you think. Thanks!

scottct1 09-19-2013 05:54 PM

Cool just updated thanks!

Update? I wasn't aware there was 3.x specific version for this mod. I've been using this one.
