There exists other mods for vB 3.8 already, Marco's username management mod for one :)
Fillip |
Is there any possibility that it going to work on vB 3.7.2?
|
The template structure is vastly different but beyond that, it might. It's not something we're able to give support for at this point in time, though.

4.0.8 seems to have changed something (CSS probably?) so now the tabs in the user profile don't look quite right.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/01/18.png Notice the extra space around the tab between the light and dark blue lines as I'm hovering over the tab in the screen shot. I haven't had a chance yet to look to see what needs to be changed to fix, but iTrader also had this issue until its newest update, so maybe that could help in narrowing down the problem? |
nice Idea thankyou.
Installed |
doesn't seem to work in 4.1.0PL2 cant see nothing in other users profile but can see it in my own
|
oops sorry my mistake see it now i looked at some ones profile whose name had never been changed seems to work fine in 4.1

it doesn't seem to work in the new vb 4.1, cant see anything
any idea? |
Are you sure you didn't make the same mistake as Markos? It works fine for him :)
Fillip |
Just installed on 4.1 and no conflicts with other modifications. Works great thanks!
|
I don't know if that has been brought up but my users complain that if they change there names then try change it back to what it was before it comes back saying *this user name is already in use*

Edit: just had a look cant see that option in usergroup settings if its not in there where do i change that |
its ok i found it

Is it possible this plugin can have the ability to post a reply OR a new thread regarding the namechange in a specific section? We have a thread in a moderation section (single thread) where all replies are being made for username changes. This is so we can keep up with the changes and who has changed to what.

*RESOLVED*
I didn't go far enough back to see this post. The heading is under: Settings > Options > User Registration Options > Username Reuse Delay I have disabled the reuse function and will have users test - if problem resolved, we're good. If problem persists, I'll be back! :) Thanks for the great mod! ---------------------------------------- Erg! Help! :) I've gone through most things myself, even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling mod. I installed the mod just before Christmas as our users wanted to change their names to 'Christmas' themed names, and it was getting troublesome for me to do all and sundry whilst also working full time so I installed this mod. The initial changing of names worked without a hitch, however, since Christmas, the most users are unable to revert to their old usernames. Some are successful in reverting, but 95% get this error: Quote:
Yes No Yes Yes 0 5 0 Can you shed any light on this problem for me please? Using vB4.1.0PL2 |
Somewhere in vBulletin Options is Username Reuse Delay, by default is set to a high number. Setting that to 0 will take care of your problem :)
Fillip |
Oops, cross posted, I've just edited my original post to reflect that option.
Apologies for bringing you here to answer a question you already answered! :( |
No worries :)

Tagged for when I can accept donations to change names.

Getting an error when installing this on ver 4.1pl2
Warning: require_once([path]/dbtech/username_change/includes/hooks/cache_templates.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/class_bootstrap.php(1309) : eval()'d code on line 74 I've uploaded the files to [path]/forums/ Any ideas? |
I'm confused... You can clearly see what path the folder structure is, so why did you upload it to [path]/forums/ ?
Fillip |

/public_html/forums/dbtech/ /public_html/forums/includes/ /public_html/forums/modcp/ I've uploaded to the same paths other than it being "forums" instead of "forum"....since my setup is in the forums directory. |
From the readme.txt file:
--- 1. Upload all files from the "forum" folder to your forums directory. --- Meaning, the contents of that folder goes in the folder where your forum files are :) Fillip |
I don't mean to sound argumentative, but that's exactly what I did.
Once it is unzipped (locally) and you open the "forum" folder the folders within it are exactly what I described above. Thusly: /root/forums/dbtech/username_change/includes/ (and a couple folders below this as well) /root/forums/dbtech/username_change/install/ (another "install" folder and some files, including core.php are in here) /root/forums/includes/xml/ /root/forums/modcp/ By "root", and by [path], I mean "usr/home/server/public_html/" Is that not correct? |
Within your /forums/ directory, do the vBulletin files exist?
Because according to your error message, this does not appear to be the case. The files need to be uploaded to the same folder as the vBulletin files, like forum.php, ajax.php and the likes. Fillip |

The forums are working correctly, other than this mod. But I did get it to work. What I had to do is to upload the files to the root folder, not the forums folder. I'll play around with it to see if it works satisfactorily. But it should be able to be installed in the /forums/ folder instead. |
There is no way to make it able to be installed in any other way than you have installed it atm, unfortunately.
Fillip |
I think the confusion comes from the installation file where it says "Upload the forum folder to your forums directory"
Instead the wordage should be something like "Upload to your messageboard root directory" or "forum root directory" |
I'll rename the folder to "upload" instead, to be consistent with other DBTech products :)
Fillip |
Very useful, thanks a lot...installed.

With such a large board I would love to see a feature whereby admins can see who has changed their username between X time period. Without that things could get very very difficult to track.

I can't figure out where to put the files in the DBTech folder.. /actions/hooks folders have things in them.. :( Lost now
Guessed a few things but failed. http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2...namechange.jpg |
Please follow the instructions in the readme.txt file :)
Fillip |
Hi Fillip, I have tried my best to do so and not sure now if I should find everything I added and just remove them. The folder named 'bdtech' is what confuses me. I know where to place the files from the other two folders.
Thanks for your reply. |
Step 1: Download the .zip file.
Step 2: Extract it. Step 3: Open the "forum" folder, select all files, hit Copy Step 4: Open your FTP program, navigate to your Forum folder (as per your screenshot) Step 5: Paste the files. If Copy / Paste doesn't work, substitute Copy and Paste with Drag and Drop, which should work. Hope that helps :) Fillip |
