I am looking for Video Chat software that is compatible with VB 4.0. Does Flashchat offer a web cam feature? If not, can you point me to a plugin or software that would work?

Yes it is, but you will have to wait for the next release.

Great mod, works wonderfully. Thanks Paul :)

wildo69 01-26-2010 04:15 AM

would it be possible to have this mod show a new main button in the top along with the Forums, blogs, what's new, etc. that says Chat[x] with x being the number of active chat users?
this way members would quickly see active chat members and can easily join in?
maybe have it as an option that we can turn on?

kadeous 01-27-2010 03:57 PM

Thank you so much for this!

Texan593 01-28-2010 08:31 PM

Hi Paul, Installed with ease on my forum and it looks great! I didn't see it mentioned on the other posts but is there a way to add the word "chat" or "flashchat" to the forum navigation rather that having to click on "community" to find the "flashchat" link?

Thx so much for a great hack!

Paul M 01-28-2010 08:51 PM

Only by manually editing your navbar template.

I installed flashchat and logged into the working chatroom. I followed the instructions to intergrate, FlashChat is appearing under Community, but when I click on it I am getting a 404 Not Found error.

Paul M 02-08-2010 10:56 AM

I dont understand your question.

anthony parsons 02-10-2010 09:02 AM

Paul,

Something I find in general with custom pages in vb4 due to the YUI resetting issue in browsers, is to wrap all custom pages in the following class:

HTML Code:

<div class="article cms_clear restore">

<p>Content here...</p>

</div>

It seems that otherwise because of what vb have done with this whole issue in general with CSS resetting, if you use the above tags you regain full CSS control over custom coding, ie. <p> tags work again, rendering for that page is reset to browser standards without the YUI issue.

I was finding that without this class wrapped in a div around your integrated template, when you click on the chat scrollers appear, it was doing strange behaviour when using the flashchat settings for closing the software, etc. It extends pretty far this YUI issue they implemented. This simple class addition though fixes so many issues.

Maybe you want to include it by default or atleast others can use it, especially if using Firefox and other web standards browsers.

Installed in 4.0.2 and functioning. Thx

Is there anyway to have the chat open in a new window instead of in the same (forum) page?

Some of our members like to chat while browsing the forum...

Paul M 02-18-2010 09:50 AM

Well they can just hold down the SHIFT key when they click on the link (or CTRL Key for a new Tab on more modern browsers).

WoodPusher 02-19-2010 03:30 PM

Any idea on how to display who is using chat on the frontpage?

WoodPusher 02-19-2010 07:25 PM

I have a issue which I have not seen too much of in here.

I have installed Flash Chat 6, and the integrator. I can load flashchat in its own window, but it stalls on the load when using the integrator. Is there a fix for this?

WoodPusher 02-19-2010 08:40 PM

I seem to have this issue resolved now.

insidedesign 02-22-2010 09:46 PM

What is the general workflow for upgrading this plug-in? I could not find any document within the .zip file or within your plug-in description above.

Thanks in advance!

insidedesign 02-22-2010 09:48 PM

Also, I noticed that the additional.css template was not being pull into the chat page. Is this an issue with your plug-in or vbulletin?

Sorry for the triple post, but I determined the problem. It looks like you need to include a raw template into your xml file.

Just under line 105, I suggest that you add the following code:
Code:

{vb:raw headinclude_bottom}

Just a suggestion. :)

additional.css did not exist when this was built & released, it was added in vb 4.0.1.

I expect I'll get round to adding it when I have time :)

vglobal 02-23-2010 07:30 PM

Installed. Very cool. Thank a lot.
If I wish to open the chat in new windows, what I have to do?

|Jordan| 02-24-2010 01:34 AM

Is this backwards compatible with vb 3.8 ? I know there's a 3.8 version, but its for the older version of FlashChat.

Paul M 02-24-2010 07:28 AM

No, this will not work on 3.8.

However, I think the 3.8 version will work with FC 6.

|Jordan| 02-24-2010 04:27 PM

Cool it appears to work ;)

Thanks for the tip!

cherylferraro 02-24-2010 07:42 PM

Hi Paul, first off let me thank you for all of the great mods you have contributed here. I've been using your mods for many years and wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into them.

The issue I have today seems to have been caused when I upgraded to a clean install of flashchat 6.07.

For some reason now when the members have to sign in again instead of simply entering the chat. I've looked through the settings in the admin panel and they all seem to be correct. Am I missing something or should I retry reinstalling again?

Paul M 02-24-2010 10:28 PM

You have overwritten the CMS file supplied with this mod when you upgraded.

cherylferraro 02-25-2010 02:24 AM

:)

Thank you so much Paul, I appreciate your help with this and all of your mods. You are awesome.
