Extremely well done Mod... Many Kudos.

A couple of suggestions:
- Tools
- I was expecting rebuilt to be a link like Update and Reset..... I got it after a second....
- In Rebuild - button says save, and should say "RUN"

Other than it worked like a charm.... and I really do GREATLY appreciate functional well written code with instructions. I really liked the '-ame' change to implement it... that was slick and ought to be the standard for mods.

dodgeboard.com 12-24-2009 12:51 AM

Just installed this and made the file edits. I am having the same problem.

Fatal error: Call to a member function query_write() on a non-object in /****/****/public_html/forums/includes/ame_prep.php on line 297

Geek: PM me if You need a test admincp account. Also include your IP address so I can allow it in my .htaccess file. Currently AME is disabled.

It is off by default so no but I have just tested with it on as well as off and it doesn't make a difference. The same error when trying to edit a post and save changes.

Dodge, Ill PM you a bit later today. Not sure why this is happening on some sites. The way it is happening on some sites and not others makes me think a potential mod conflict or maybe a php version issue. Regardless I'll do my best to get it resolved today though please bare with me as its Christmas Eve :)

skariko 12-24-2009 10:27 AM

VB 4.0 Gold PL1

Give this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function query_read_slave() on a non-object in /my/path/to/forum/includes/ame_prep.php on line 371

When i try to give a yellow infraction to a user.

hello installed as you told but not working its shows me the link just the link not video

movslow 12-25-2009 03:19 AM

Something else to think about as well.

On the forum front page (home) cms it worked for an article and even shrunk it to fit.

But when you click that article directly and it brings it up by itself, the video is half cut off b/c it's bigger than the space it sits and and half is cut off.

I liked using the other versions, I will install this when beta is done.

dodgeboard.com 12-26-2009 03:33 AM

Ditto. I know Geek is probably busy for the holidays, but I think I'll uninstall and wait until the bugs are worked out of this mod. :(

So far, I have been on 2 sites and my testbed and I simply cannot reproduce this ame_prep.php error.

Just tested Dodge's site. Had to redo edits as per readme and first post, but everything seems to be working a treat since that. If someone could PLEASE provide reproducable steps on their site and admincp/ftp access I would LOVE to get to the bottom of this.

In the meantime, could people PLEASE read the installation instructions and make sure they have been done?

This is vB and not AME. You can verify by manually adding the video using vB's video popup.

Embedding disabled by request
How can fix it?

You can't. That's why they've disabled it.

Prorockz 12-27-2009 05:53 AM

Fatal error: Call to a member function query_write() on a non-object in /home/...../public_html/........../includes/ame_prep.php on line 297

You can't. It means that the publisher has prevented other sites from embedding the video. This has nothing to do with AME.

Not sure I follow you DJ. All AME does is wrap video codes around matching links. vB does the embedding?

Make sure you have done the file edit as per the readme and install instructions. Also, are you using the file cache? If you are still having problems, PM me temp admincp details so I can review. So far, both times I have looked at the problem, it was the file edit.

Im going to whip up a version to help at least prevent this. Wish vB would release 4.0.1 and fix the stupid bug.

Also people, it would be nice if you clicked install :)

It is very true. All AME is doing is looking at all your URL tags and if it sees that the URL tag contains a media definition, it swaps it out with a [video] tag. vBulletin does the actual processing.

Make sure you don't have an old verison of AME installed.

And click install please.

I don't click install because the script is processing the error message above. ;) I sadly disabled the plugin.

KissOfDeath 12-27-2009 02:34 PM

installed and working (only tested it on you tube)

thanks

Sort of a chicken or the egg thing as many mod authors won't support you if you don't install it. *shrug*

The Geek 12-27-2009 02:57 PM

I have just uploaded Beta3. This should address the error on some server configurations that some of you have had. Its been a real pain to track down because I still haven't been able to reproduce and it seems to be happening only certain php versions. Anyhoo - hopefully this package does the trick.

To upgrade, follow the steps in the readme (standard upgrade - replace your files and product-ame.xml)

ShawnV 12-27-2009 03:12 PM

Awesome, thanks for the update Geek. This is one of my favorite vB MODs.

By "they", I meant the publisher. I was just being terse. :erm:

All I am saying is that you would get the exact same effect using the Video popup with vBulletin so that is a vB issue. If you widen your browser a bit, its fine. You should be able to adjust the max size via css though.

That doesn't make sense. Can you pm me a temp admincp account and if possible a temp ftp account?

Doctor Death 12-27-2009 08:29 PM

Greek;

Thanks for the update, will give it a whirl -- I appreciate you working the php issue.

On install, I clicked REBUILD CACHE and got this message...

"Could not find phrase 'ame_saved'."

I am certain this is just for language/messages, but wanted you to know.

Did you follow the instructions in the readme to install?

ajhalls 12-29-2009 12:12 AM

I was wondering if AME has any products it works with that will allow it to stream locally hosted video rather than things like youtube? I was using JW Mediaplayer and flowplayer but am open to any suggestions on how to stream these videos in VB.
