Can it refresh the page on login? It's kind of awkward for it to take you to the main forum if a user logs in wanting to reply to a thread.

wolfstream 08-18-2009 03:49 AM

Problem #1: no facebook login button at all. The script is there, but there is no login button, and yeah, I've verified that the application id is correct.

Problem #2: when the user logs out, this is not shown on the logout page itself. Yeah, a bit picky there, but let's say they want to switch accounts (for forums that allow that kind of thing), or log right back in? Not the biggest problem in the world, but still an issue.

WOW amazing, nominated and will tag this for further updates! Once this completes beta I am all in! :D

:)

When I click on the nexus.gif image, "google" is undefined, hence we don't get a pop-up. That's in IE only.

I've got my main vB account set up, and I've added a FB login to it. So next I wanted to add in the rest of my ID's so I try OpenID via Google; I recieve a database error:

nonvbid is missing.

Thanks Anders, + nominated for MOTM.

Getting this same problem. Had to uninstall. Works perfectly on my test forum. There must be some kind of conflict with another mod. I really want this mod, this is one of the best mods I have seen!

Chief Corn 08-18-2009 07:24 PM

Template problem? When viewing a page in Safari with Google ID enabled it adds like 200 pixels of blank space under the footer.

dvsDave 08-18-2009 08:07 PM

I was testing this on your site and I noticed that it won't work in Google Chrome. I tried logging in with my Google account, and it got to the login screen where it shows your avatar, then I click login, but nothing happens. I went over to IE, and it worked great. I'm using Chrome dev build 4.0.201.1 (the latest build)

Ohiosweetheart 08-18-2009 09:58 PM

This mod just may not work correctly with all browsers. Many mods don't.

Ohiosweetheart 08-18-2009 10:01 PM

I'm really wanting to let people know that they can join our site through their FB/Google Friends/Yahoo etc accounts. But I can't as long as I'm having these issues. :)

On a side note tho - The Kawfee Klub HAS gotten 4 new members - all 4 joined using this mod :D

IF cannot do this then can I set so only available to registered members?

can someone who knows answer this question.! Thank you.

You can do anything you want, you just have to know how to manipulate code and xml.
In this case, I'd say the odds are pretty damn good that you can, it'll just take some exploring.

MikeF 08-19-2009 08:58 AM

This mod is being used at http://windows7forums.com and for the most part appears to be working well. However, it is creating some scripting errors on the page, and occasionally when the Facebook prompt "to post your reply or new thread to Facebook" comes up, there it results in a grey page and nothing more. I am assuming it could be a conflict with VBSEO. There is also a scripting error on pages

Code:

Message: Not implemented

Line: 127
Char: 1
Code: 0
URI: http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-support/15445-access-denied-c-documents-settings.html

In this case line 127 is....

Code:

window.PostBit_Init = function(C, D)
{
    eval(FuncBody);
};

The ending brackets };

If this in any way helps you fix or develop the product I hope you can take a look and see what is being dealt with. It is a rather big board (not massive but of medium size and high activity).

Update: It must be related to the navbar login because it doesn't appear for guests at all, only logged in users who do not see that navbar login... the navbar works great with no custom re-write rules. The styles I am using have almost no custom changes and this only affects postbit/showthread pages.

It may only appear if you are Facebook-integrated but this is not confirmed...

Warm Regards,
Mike

Great Job - Big ups

myspace would also be usefull (we have musicians/djs @ audiosuite.at)

Switch to Connect tab and set Base Domain to your Domain (mysite.com), no www or http.
audiosuite.at <- not valid (but it works ...after some tries)

thx

Ohiosweetheart 08-19-2009 02:34 PM

This mod is being used at The Kawfee Klub as well.

We're having issues with Facebook that we're still waiting on Anders to help us with, but all of the other logins - yahoo, google friends, etc, work perfectly.

I'm very happy with this mod. And will be happier when the facebook issues are ironed out.

tpearl5 08-19-2009 03:21 PM

How can I convert from sllik's fb connect hack? (I'm sure others using the hack would love to know this as well)

jarosciak 08-19-2009 03:34 PM

Installed it, loved it, uninstalled it.
Doesn't work with vbulletin Photopost Gallery.

Calash 08-19-2009 03:49 PM

A couple of issues so far.

1 - I am being randomly logged out a couple of times per day. It is not my Facebook cookie expiring as the login there is fine. This never occurred with the Facebook Connect mod.

2 - When I use the full WYSIWYG editor in Quick Reply I consistently get errors saying that my post is too short. Switching editor modes corrects this problem.

CallieJo 08-19-2009 08:27 PM

Logged in with facebook on FF.
Connected my forum account with facebook account.
Tried to post a new thread in a private forum to test it.
Received a blank grey page after submitting a new thread.
However, the post was posted.

I have several thread mods. Not sure what could be causing an issue.

Understanding that this is ALPHA/BETA stage software, I am not too concerned with the scripting error which seems to be miniscule. But to update my findings, it only occurs when you log in through Facebook and not the standard vBulletin login prompt, EVEN if your account is tied to Facebook. I haven't experimented with the Google/Yahoo/AIM integration since I figure linking your account to all of them would be causing a problem at this stage in the game. Hope this helps in some way.

I apologize for the delay in answering PM's and requests. We'll resume bug fixing and answering questions on Monday.

ibautocommunity 08-20-2009 08:35 PM

Another quick - but important note:

Yes -. we are planning on periodically maintaining this product with bug fixes, new features and a VB 4.0 update.

Please post screen shots of the options in adminCP.

How can admins see what facebook account the member comes from?

After someone logs in with facebook/google/etc. the new member has the option to supply his/her email address. Is it possible to make this mandatory, before posting is allowed?

Also, they should be required to choose a password or they cannot login again after the first time.

He'll be back at work here on Monday, hopefully. ;)

Calash 08-21-2009 03:40 PM

One of my bugs, the inability to use the quick reply, was due to parts of the Facebook Connect mod still being in my templates. Cleared them out and we are all set.

However I cannot get the Google Connect to work outside of the vBulletin directory, such as in vBAdvanced. Facebook works fine from here but Google will not log into the forum.

The template edits will also not work in my third party script. I can edit by hand if I need to once I get the vBadvanced problem resolved.

robdawg 08-21-2009 04:36 PM

This is awesome, I can not wait for this to go gold!

Calash 08-21-2009 05:42 PM

I have resolved all my issues by editing the .js plugin and putting in the full path to the vbnexus folder. I also edited the return path to point to the forum and now everything works in both my external scripts (eFiction and vbAdvanced)

I was able to get around the buttons not being displayed by creating a second plugin that assigned the navbar code to a variable. I put the variable where I wanted the buttons and now they show up fine in all areas.

Some notes from my transition to vb Nexus from Facebook Connect.

The following Query will move the user ID and Facebook ID to the vBNexus tables. Please replace the vb_ with your database prefix if you have one.

Code:

INSERT INTO vb_vbnexus_nonvbuser (userid, nonvbid)
SELECT userid, fbuid
FROM vb_fbuser

The two mods do not like each other. Once you get the tables moved disable Facebook Connect and remove the navbar template changes.

I will update as I test more. So far it worked well with an existing user from Facebook Connect.

Update: Google button not working in vBadvanced. Looks like a path issue. The login is not displaying at all outside of vB, even though I am sending the Navbar and Footer templates. The second part is due to my setup, ill probably have to do some fancy plugin work to fix that one.

I also noticed that the new members are being put into the Registered Users group despite me setting the default user group. I believe this was listed in a previous post as a bug.

If you are using this query to move your users from the Facebook Connect mod you should also run the following query after the first one is done

Code:

INSERT INTO vb_vbnexus_facebookuser (uid)
SELECT nonvbid
FROM vb_vbnexus_nonvbuser
WHERE type = '1'

Again replace vb_ with your prefix. This will populate the Facebook settings with the defaults.

Make sure to run it right after the first query. If you run it after somebody has joined using Facebook it can cause duplication of the records and script errors.

CallieJo 08-21-2009 08:51 PM

:erm: When this is enabled, I get errors on the DnP Musicbox addon:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=216098
and a horoscope hack I have.

When disabled, those two hacks work fine.

Also, does anyone else get blank pages when posting threads? I am trying to narrow down the issues I have when this addon is enabled.

Ohiosweetheart 08-21-2009 09:41 PM

Nope no blank pges here.

riosaigon 08-22-2009 02:14 PM

i can not log forum google ...

Michael2 08-22-2009 04:38 PM

Are the template bundles on Facebook and in the admincp supposed to match? Mine don't and I get an error. I've seen a couple other people have this problem and no answer yet. :-/

Sebijk 08-23-2009 01:03 PM

If i use HTTPS (SSL), then the Connect are unencrypted, because Facebook Connects are only to HTTP.

Wizardjv 08-23-2009 05:36 PM

This is a very great mod, but we are getting one error. For some reason its conflicting with another mod and spitting out this code

Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #1 is not an array in [path]/includes/init.php(298) : eval()'d code on line 727

wolfstream 08-23-2009 09:33 PM

A few updates re: my own problems since IB apparently can't figure 'em out:

This is hit and miss. One forum has the problem, one doesn't. This is why templating this stuff is important, so we can figure out where the problem lies!

Same here, only mine is predictable
Login using the mod (facebook option)
View a page or two in the forum (even demo forum)
Close browser
Go back to forum

In some cases I'll have to relog immediately, in others (my own), I'll have to relog after the second page view

I have yet to run across a mod interacting with the editor that didn't cause this issue. I think this is more of an editor problem, but yeah, it's annoying

This IS more useful than the fbconnect mod, in that it actually posts the URL when a new thread is posted, and when you logout of the forum, you're still logged in via facebook, which is definitely a good thing.

cory_booth 08-24-2009 12:55 AM

How is the FaceBook connection different than FaceBook Connect listed here as a mod?
FaceBook Connect has issues with PhotoPost vbGallery... Would this one as well?

Let me count the ways:
  1. The author at least tries to support the mod
  2. Logging you out of the forum doesn't log you out of facebook
  3. Allows for other (non facebook) logins
  4. New thread notifications actually point to the thread
  5. PM notifications
  6. Album Notifications
  7. Much, much more configurable

There are a few downsides, such as the non templated login stuff, but this is a beta mod, and they at least try to provide support, whereas the author for the other mod has ignored his own mods for months on end.
