As another forum owner i would agree with the above posts, i run 3-4 forums and would not pay $80 a year, however i have alot of users on each one who uses an iphone to view the site and am sure they would pay for the app on the store, just feel that this would be the best way to make money on this project

Brandon Sheley 05-22-2009 03:28 AM

I didn't think paid mods where allowed here? :(

Hi all,

For past two weeks we have received a lot of feedback in terms of how you like the Tapatalk to serve your need - especially surrounding the business model - We are happy to share with you that we have decided to open up the Tapatalk Network to all vbulletin forum owners, while charging $2.99 for a copy of Tapatalk iPhone client from iTunes app store.

We have updated our system to reflect this change. The Tapatalk iPhone app has been approved by Apple and all is ready, we submitted a newer version one week ago (based on 0.9.19) and becomes Tapatalk iPhone 1.1 on the app store, please check in again on June 1st you should be able to see it on the store!

I hope you enjoy Tapatalk!

AyeCapn 05-29-2009 01:40 PM

This line is still in the original app description:

- iPhone app will be free to download and use

I run a fairly large forum. This is very interesting and I have been keeping tabs with what is going on @ tapatalk.com forums. The only thing stopping me from integrating this into our forums is the "Posted made by Tapatalk" with a URL to an outside page. If this can be changed to "Post made via Mobile Device" in Size 1 font below the post I will install this on my forum.

I hope Tapatalk has this key flexibility otherwise I do home it is implemented in the near future.

Personally I think that model is very good and from an EOI (expression of interest) on my forum many iPhone users were happy to pay that tiny amount for a good application to access my board. I personally can't wait until this is released in the App store. As I am an iPhone user and at the moment I am stuck with a very boring mobile style...

Has it been released yet, I've not seen it.

Why not for ALL blackberries ? I'd totally pay for it.

Jamieinnh 06-02-2009 02:10 AM

Add me to the list of people that would pay for an APP for the Blackberry Storm.

Jamie

June 2nd and still not on the app store :(

PixelFx 06-02-2009 02:17 PM

They are working on it, few things left to be fully up and running, its a process to be accepted on the apps store. But things moving along great.

yellowpeter 06-03-2009 07:26 AM

looks like we are worser than Microsoft releasing Windows 95. Yah sorry folks another unexpected delay!!!!!

PixelFx 06-07-2009 03:20 PM

I added us, just need app now lol its all growing pains so no worries, you guys working on something great!

yellowpeter 06-14-2009 02:47 PM

Can't believe we are still waiting for Apple.

The upside is that we fixed even more bugs and the private message feature is close to finish (minus the Push Notification part). Yesterday we sent out the latest stable built to some 30 forum owners to trial.

If any of the forum owners here still interestred to join and get a copy of this app with your own forum, you can now go to add your forum to the list to be visible on iPhone.

the purpose of the list is to allow zero configuration at iPhone to connect to your forum - in fact once the app established connection to your forum, it is a direct data connection between your device and your forum. In case you are security/privacy minded.

also we are adding an option that your forum is only be "searchable" and is hidden from the public directory, if you need this option, drop us an email and we can do it manually for you.

PixelFx 06-14-2009 08:10 PM

I've got the update installed works great thank you

yellowpeter 06-15-2009 05:22 AM

You are welcome Rob!

yellowpeter 06-17-2009 12:02 AM

Just an update (or not much update really..)

The app is still stuck at the queue within Apple, as discussed in this forum: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/ip...thread-56.html

And Apple was upset of seeing some of the forums with Jail-breaking discussion and rejected. We are working on a new feature that allows forum owner to selectively hide the sub-forums that may "violate" Apple law.

It looks like we are on a whole new territory of a social networking app that confuses Apple :)

Again, if you want to join and get a copy of the app please let us know and we are happy to provide it to you for free.

PixelFx 06-17-2009 08:26 AM

wow what sucks, you think the forums would know better, than to post jail break stuff, although thats a 3rd party network, since joining your program is free, to get a forum listed, you should be punished if a site happens to discuss topics like that.

yellowpeter 06-18-2009 01:49 AM

Hi PixelFx,

We have no authority to "punish" anyone and in good faith we want to make everyone aware of this "limitation" - what we are doing now to provide more flexibility for forum owner to hide specific sub-forums from Tapatalk.

But I am surprised the level of detail Apple staff looked into. wow.

N-0p3rz 06-19-2009 02:29 AM

lol good luck getting approved..

Apple are pricks when it comes to moderation.

yellowpeter 06-19-2009 03:06 AM

It should be okay as we had received approval earlier - just that the version is way too old so we need to replace with a better one.

Hi all,

While still no update from Apple (probably because of the OS 3.0 launch that casues the delay). Here are some update from development perpective:

Subscription Management is added and completed. You will be able to delete your subscription (only "Topic" type of subscription is supported in the mean time)

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/06/75.jpg

And now you will be able to subscribe to any topic you want to follow:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/06/75.jpg

Also notice the little "red badge"? Yes we are also getting close to finish off the Private Messaging.

trancetopia 06-22-2009 10:01 PM

omg, I just stumbled across this and I was ready to start dev of an iphone vb client myself in the next couple of weeks..... well maybe not now :) I can see you've put lots of effort into this, well done for it's execution and I for one will be a customer of yours.

Now apple... get a move on!! I've seen old age pensioners in concrete boots move quicker that you!! You're keeping the world waiting.... again!!

vbreal 06-22-2009 11:14 PM

oh man i cant wait for private messaging to be completed!!!!

i am enjoying the app as is, this will just make the app experience even better.

armthehomeless1 06-23-2009 04:13 AM

Wow...these updates look nice. Can't wait to see it in the app store!

PixelFx 06-24-2009 03:23 AM

cygy2k 06-24-2009 08:51 PM

bposner 06-25-2009 12:48 PM

Installed, on our site, stangsofsouthflorida.com but users are complaining about the tapatalk signature that is included on every post, how do we shut that off?
Nice app!!!

bposner 06-25-2009 12:51 PM

We are also getting privilege errors, I'm have full admin rights, but get this message and so do other users:
"You cannot view posts because you do not have sufficient privilege."
Thanks

Why is this mod marked as "Downloaded" for me? I haven't touched it.

(I just wanted to let the yellowpeter know in case there's something wrong with the way downloads are counted.)

yellowpeter 06-25-2009 03:27 PM

Finally Apple has approved it and it is appearing in the app store starting from now.

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/M...307880732&mt=8

Currently this release is limited to U.S. app store only and we will release it to the rest of the world in next release (estimate around 10-20 days from now judging from Apple recent turn-around time)

I hope you all give it a try and we are constantly improving this app - your feedback is greatly appreciated.

What happening next is we are working on a iPhone Analytic for your forum so you can see how many users has been accessing your forum thru iPhone and also their average time on your forum etc. This will help to complement what you already have such as Google Analytic.

PixelFx 06-25-2009 03:33 PM

Yay now we just need canada/uk/other
