You have php4 even if you think you have php5 ;) Upgrade to php5!

Common people get with the times! Why would you still use php4?!
I feel like I'm improving to the php community by making you all upgrade :)

Ok.. so apparently my hosting is PHP4, but my databases are PHP5 :o :erm:
Is that possible..!?

Thanks for the UserCP Shell answer before i asked it. lol

Gamelobby 01-29-2009 11:39 PM

What about double users?

Is any way to merge users already registered with their Facebook account?

Ryuk 01-30-2009 02:31 AM

Thank you very much Silk, the sharethis thing was uninstalled, and I nominated this for MOTM!

Yes, if you use the "Connect With Facebook" button to login to the site, it lets you login with your FB details and then the option (other than creating a new account) to link it with your forum account - by then requesting your forum login details as well.

You only have to do this once and then every other time you use the FB button, you only have to use your FB details to login and it automatically logs you into your forum account too.

HTH :)

Problem.. I've been trying to get it too work for over a week now.I have applied the template changes to one skin. With the mod disabled if i go to make a new thread i get this..
Quote:

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 4 characters.
Yet i can still post as normal on other skins. Now if i enable the mod i can't get into any post's on any skin just get a blank white screen..

Nice Mod by the way..

dadymac 01-30-2009 05:38 PM

KevinL 01-30-2009 07:37 PM

Seriously..!?

How do you tell..?
I dont see anything working or doing anything different on my site.
Just the Facebook connect button, & when i hit it, & fill out the info it supposedly connects, but i dont see any differences on my forums or my Facebook account.

Does it do anything for you as Admin.?
Or have you run test accounts or what.?

TNCclubman 01-30-2009 07:42 PM

Once people log in via Facebook login and it creates an account... Is there a way to send them a pm saying to go in and enter their real email in their profile??

Nevermind, just realized they'll all be in their own group and you can send the group a pm...

I logged in created a new thread, it posted to my wall and then I went to my wall and from there it went on to my forum. When I created the thread it asked if I wanted it posted to my wall or not.

Thats what it's supposed to do right?

When I go and try and log in to your site it doesn't do anything. All your forums are still locked. It go to like a blank page...

Gamelobby 01-30-2009 07:47 PM

Yes it does appear to work on yours, but once the registration was done i got this..
Quote:

Thank you, ChiliDawg. Your registration is now complete.

You may now proceed to edit your Profile in order to fill in additional personal details about yourself, or you could modify your Options to customize your browsing experience of this site. If you would rather do these things later, you can do so by following the links around the site to your User Control Panel.

Alternatively, you can simply go back to the Forums and start posting in threads.

Which is all well & good, but then when i click on forums it gives me this..?
Quote:

ChiliDawg, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Thats really weird...it should be exactly like a regular user. I created the usergroup the same as my regular usergroup  I actually posted that facebook message while logged in through facebook...

Thanks for letting me know. I have to figure out whats up now...

Gamelobby 01-30-2009 08:02 PM

Yea it lets me do everything else, but it wouldn't let me hit the "forums" link on the top menu.
But it is working i got a msg on my facebook account. from your site.

But im hoping this mod does more than that.. otherwise im not sure giving up an email address is worth it.

How does this mod help gain more members.?

Vaupell 01-30-2009 08:03 PM

ahem a little update..

it appears to be working now. as usual around ? mins after installation
im starting to suspect my host of chache websites :p

atleast i think it works,, would be nice if someone could test. ;)

Gamelobby 01-30-2009 08:08 PM

If you don't mind, could you click on an actual forum? Like the den? And see if it does anything?

Works just fine ;) I didn't post but I could get everywhere OK.

Gamelobby 01-30-2009 08:31 PM

Hey KevinL you need to give facebook usergroup arcade access. :)

Vaupell 01-30-2009 08:34 PM

still just find it odd users cant edit their "own" email,
but i find it extremely cool that you can login with a botton click.

Im just thinking maybe the facebook registration should have a seperate field
for the facebook UID

so users are still "allowed" if they feel like it to edit their email. .;)

I like this mod very very much although I see one very big disadvantage.
You decrease your new usersignups since almost everyone has a facebook account.

And I wanna store their database to contact now and then!

Or am I mistaking?

You are mistaken.

As they connect they create a new account if they aren't connecting to one they already have.

Thanks.. but what is the difference between "Facebook UID" & "Profile page URL" ..?
Basically same thing.?

---------

Also, I think this needs to add an icon to your profile or something. some sort of more recognition on the forums.

KevinL 01-30-2009 10:38 PM

You could probably do that by just adding a rank image :)

klemox 01-30-2009 10:40 PM

This is a great MOD, thanks to the developer :)

One quick Q about RSS feeds: I was publishing my VBulletin RSS feeds on my blog page, however after installing the Facebook Connect MOD it got deactivated for some reason.

Any workaround on this?

Advanced thanks for your help.

yeah added a usergroup image for my fb users,
including u 2 :p using this as
user group image - http://www.evisystems.org/forums/ima...registrant.gif

yeah i know its ugly, but i needed something fast.

TamCaVBoy3 01-30-2009 11:18 PM

the location doesn't work, it shows as "Array" even though my fb profile said Tokyo Japan ?

DotSauce 01-31-2009 03:57 AM

Is this concept possible with Twitter logins through the Twitter API? That would be awesome.

KevinL 01-31-2009 04:19 AM

I would suppose something along the same lines could be written.

I don't know why VB doesn't include openID already default. That way it would probably make it easy to link everything together..
