so ive been messing around with this theme... and have most of my issues sorted out except for the top nav menu.

you can see in teh screen shot the height on one side is thinner than the other... i've spent a few hours messing around with it and cant seem to figure it out... any help?

upon further inspection the alignment issue only seems to be on Firefox... looks to display ok in IE

I'm with you on this. Why steal someone else's idea? Why not invest $20 - $30 a buy a style, or design your own? Or, use a style here that is free but not a ripoff of another site?

Its so unoriginal to just copy exact from some one else's' style. To top it off, even name the style "facebook".

I'm surprised vb org allows this to even stay. Its obviously a clone of the Facebook site from the layout, font style, navigation, icons, smilies.

TNCclubman 02-22-2009 06:45 PM

You do know that Mark Zuckerberg (facebooks owner) stole the idea from the 2 students that paid him to design the original idea for facebook right?

Anyways, you cant copyright blue. The style isnt EXACTLY the same. may be similar, but thats about it...

Two wrongs don't make one right. And you have proof he stole the idea? There is the law of the United States that would deal with those things, not vbulletin members.

"May be similar"? May be?

Let he who hasnt sinned cast the first stone... your site is purple just like Barney's site...

Clearly you're incapable of mature and intelligent conversation. So you stoop low to immature replies and obvious sarcasm.

When you have crossed the 1million member base on your site, then you should think on switching to your own design or adjust this one a little bit to make it unique. Most vb sites dont even get to 100k members, do you think facebook with over 90 million ACTIVE members would even care about a site with less than 100k?

You are not wrong by saying they can sue you, but you are wrong if you think they will win the case, read what happened to other big sites according to these copyrights.

This article, read it all the way or at least the very end.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/143227/output/print

http://www.betanews.com/article/Face...ace/1216655122

After that, they are still using their design.
Here is the link of those other site, using probably the same codes and skin (over 4.5 million hits per day not thousands)
http://www.studivz.net
and another one
http://vkontakte.ru

This is just a skin not a facebook clone! just to make it clear.
Use this at your own risk.

good work bro.

i'm running a 3.8.1

i can't see my flashchat as an option, how would i make it viewable ?

vividbreeze 03-01-2009 12:13 AM

christain8a please check your pm, I need you to install this and keep the modifications of colors that is on my site.

please contact me asap, thank you!

vividbreeze 03-01-2009 04:02 AM

I have the 3.7 style installed modified with new colors and left sidebar. I need someone that is familiar with this style and vbulletin 3.8.1 installation. Our server was breached and we have the ic3 investigating it, so if you have a legit company and would like to take on this job please contact me ASAP, I need this done by Monday.

Job would be to update my old Facebook style to this new 3.8 Facebook style and keep all modifications in tact and update to vb 3.8.

I would ask this in the request paid services, but doubt any of you facebook installers look in there.

Christain, if you have time please contact me asap!

Thanks!!

ams3521 03-03-2009 03:23 AM

Ive went from blue to red. I still have a problem with the

images/styles/new_facebook/images/buttons/search_button.gif

no gif there although it shows. It could be made by css. Does anyone know how to change the colour of this?

thanks

ivand 03-15-2009 11:32 AM

the side column is on the RIGHT for starters  (is that correct behavior)
and all it contains is:

x (broken image)

contact us (link

------

and that's it  and broken images in other areas (but not all... its not file path).

Anyone have troubles with a first install on a fresh vb3.8.1 install ? did I miss something (probably but I can't figure it out right now :( )

Something isn't right.. some images paths are correct, & some aren't.
Wait.. are some supposed to be loaded into a root folder & some, somewhere else.?
Or did i just screw it up.? lol (i dont think it is me..)

also in your profile, under your pic, its missing the text part of the link for 'Pics of *username*'

the link is there, but nothing in the word part. Checked the code and it has a vbphrase of [pics_of_x]

apparently vb doesnt recognize that because I put [albums_created_by_x] and it orks.

can I ask if you ever "solved" those problems? and get it look like the example?
or did you just have to hack into it?

NativeWarrior 03-25-2009 04:05 PM

As you will see from my post that I am a newbie with vBulletin, this is my first forum. When I tried to upload vbulletin-style I get this message. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

This file was created using a different version of vBulletin from the one you are running.

Your version: 3.8.1
File version: 3.8.0 Beta 3

TNCclubman 03-25-2009 04:43 PM

ended up using it as a start, did loads of my own edits to it... just play around with it, you'll see where everything is and you can add stuff with basic html commands if you're comfortable by editing the 'footer' template....

yah. I'm ok with editing. Just can't spend loads of time figuring it all out as this is just for one of a few forums I have.

The major thing I want to get to work is putting the sidebar back on the left.
ANY tips would be greatly appreciated to help avoid some of the trial-and-error of figuring "what is where"?

Sounds like most major editing is needed in the footer?

TNCclubman 03-26-2009 05:53 AM

yep most of it is in the footer... I have it on the right... earlier on in this thread I think someone posted how to get it on the left...(I think)

jaredwilli 03-27-2009 04:06 PM

Alfa1 03-27-2009 06:17 PM

Has this skin been abandoned by the designer?

merk_aus 03-30-2009 10:26 PM

I would say so alot of the demos and addons for it the site is down ebuddy is not really working - registrations no longer get approved - and there has been no word from the creator of this as to the misleading screenshots or how to fix it up.

tenxxxx :p

sdsvtdriver 04-03-2009 01:52 AM

This skin would be fun to play around with. Too bad the author has abandoned it. I'm bad with html and would probably pull out my hair to update it!

heh. :)

what is different in 3.7 vs 3.8? I wouldn't know how to tell something needs to be updated or not :)

GrendelKhan{TSU 04-03-2009 02:53 AM

3.7 profiles are not tabbed, no "community" drop down menu (but all the features are available via other static links), and the SIDE BAR is default on the left.

IPAULR 04-08-2009 01:33 PM

Hey great mod ...

NativeWarrior 04-08-2009 03:10 PM

Where you do you put the PSD Files?

bambie 04-08-2009 09:58 PM

I am having problems with my site with this template, was wondering if you could pm me to help me?

TNCclubman 04-08-2009 11:22 PM

no pm help. Most problems have been solved in this thread... read the whole thing, you'll find someone who had the same issue and how they solved it.
