Hi Robwoelich,

I think I may have stumbled across a bug with this add-on.

This morning I noticed that there was a problem with our forum. There was a blank page appearing after new registrations being successfully submitted, instead of the "Thank you X, your registration is now complete" etc. message. The accounts were still being created regardless of this blank page, but it was causing a couple of our forum's other hacks to cease working - in particular the Intro On Register hack.

Anyway with a bit of testing, it turned out to be this hack which was causing the blank page after registration. I disabled it, and everything started working again - including the hack mentioned above. The blank page issue disappeared. It makes sense, since it had been a couple of days since the issue started happening, and also a couple of days since I had installed this hack.

I am not sure what the link is, however. It might be worth looking into? I would do some more testing however I am pressed for time today as I have to work this afternoon.

I'm more than happy to provide any other info you may require, though :) I have to leave this hack disabled in the meanwhile so hopefully there's some kind of fix that can be found for this issue.

Cheers,

Nikki.

Man, I was giving pain to Lynne and Zach out there. Too bad that I disable it now, I was fan of this hack bought even branding free thing.

Rob, can U check it out please?

space? 12-02-2008 04:21 PM

Repect, not bad.
Thanks you, I like it and installed it:)

Duncan Idaha 12-07-2008 12:24 PM

Installed it and it is a great idea. If it works... sighs...
1. I cannot close the pop up window. Not in Explorer, not in FireFox. The close button does not work at all, gives a message that the image can be improved by using Shift F5 if I remember correct.
2. While looking op the css file I got this message from the editer "You are not using a utf-8 language file. You should not save utf-8 data or you will get corrupted results"

So, uninstalled it and removed the files from the server. Still like the idea and hope you can fix these bugs

i am using the intro hack too nikki and this mod...but have not had any problems with it.

I have however just added a new theme, and it doesnt work right on this new theme only. I have checked the template edits, all is fine from what i can tell though i had to add to footer and heead includes, but it pops up, and the editor doesnt appear.

edit: problem solved, fresh installed the mod, all working fine.

Excellent mod. I'm using a fairly unique and custom skin and it took 30 seconds to install and configure and worked flawlessly right away!

If my Moderators don't report any bugs by tomorrow I'll be buying the branding free. Thank you for the great hack! Truly helpful for busy boards.

Forum Lover 12-11-2008 09:41 AM

It still causing the problem. :(

TomJames 12-11-2008 07:03 PM

Nice, will try installing this later.

htscpl 12-11-2008 09:30 PM

I really like this mod, but when installed and used, it resizes to full screen and takes over the current window, so that it doesn't show in a separate window. If you close it you close that screen and have to go back into the website.

I have set the pop up window size to 550px X 400px. but it still resizes into the current window.

I check all the templates edits and they are all as they should be.

Any help or suggestions ?

Thanks
Henry

I installed this and commented about how great it is a few posts back. However, I just noticed that you can PM multiple recipients but you cannot add them as CC or BCC which for Moderators and Staff is very important. In Mod communication with regular users we almost always use BCC to prevent stepping on each others toes.

Can this be included sometime soon?

Atlantean 12-12-2008 03:05 PM

This mod won't work for me! Tried a couple of things but no go!

Martell 12-13-2008 05:12 PM

robwoelich, Uncached templates: pm_fbpm ((1)pm_fbpm)

thunderclap82 12-18-2008 02:40 PM

Granted this plugin doesn't claim to be compatible with v3.8 but I was curious if anyone has gotten it working. It seems to be installed properly on my forum yet when you click on a members name it just uses the standard PM function.

UPDATE: I had the plugin configured wrong. Fixed now and works!

Skyrider 12-19-2008 11:49 AM

It is me? Or when you send private messages, they don't appear to be in the "send messages" list.

Medtech 12-20-2008 04:46 AM

tested this mod on vb 3.8.0 RC2, uninstalled as i lost style backgrounds. all went white.

waiting for newer version.;)

Yup. It's you ;)

I just checked and my message appears in sent items.

DebtFree 12-20-2008 12:24 PM

But ... I am getting the following error.
Code:

uncaught exception: [Exception... "Unexpected error arg 0 [nsIDOMWindowInternal.location]"  nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)"  location: "JS frame :: javascript:alert('TODO: FIXME') :: onclick :: line 0"  data: no]

Line 0

This happens when you try to send a second PM from the same page (ie send a PM to the first member works fine, go to send a PM to a second member without reloading the page and the PopUp box is empty and the above Javascript error is returned in FireBug)

Have to disable until this can be fixed :(

Dennis B 12-26-2008 10:52 PM

Installed, but noticed it's not phrased, so **uninstalled**.

rinkrat 12-28-2008 01:49 AM

Uncached templates: pm_fbpm (1)

JackFranklin 12-29-2008 10:46 AM

WHen the popup shows it shows the entire window, like I was sending a new PM rather than just the PM bit, is this meant to happen? If not then is there a fix?

I'm on VB 3.7.4

Kiint 12-30-2008 11:55 AM

Just installed on my website and all seems to be working ok so far.

I noticed on the admin screen where you "Leave blank to show for all users" that if you do leave it blank it disables it for all users.

I do like this mod though, it's got some good potential. Would be nice if you could read PM's like this also on the private.php page.

JorgeX 12-30-2008 09:58 PM

Yeh, i thought it didn't work for me....... then i tryied it (setted groups 1 to 10) and it did work.

I was just to say that error...

xD

This mod is nice, thanks.

But i will disable it since i can't send a pm twice.

Goliath27 12-31-2008 09:43 PM

I just can't get done right, I had to create a new folder in my Root for it because my UPLOAD folder is already existant. ANy way to change the path for those folders?

ALi

protow 12-31-2008 09:53 PM

ok the upload folder that you just made you dont need it.. what the upload folder means is that you have to upload the files and folders that are in there to your forum..

like if there is a folder called Images,, you upload that folder and or files to the folder already on your site. ie like this mine is setup like this..........
i would upload the Image folder to
www.yoursite.com/forums/images this is where the files in that folder would go..

Goliath27 12-31-2008 10:36 PM

ahhhhhhhhh damn I'm stupid. Thank you.

lol

Just wanted to see if anyone has had luck getting this to work on 3.6.8 and if so is there anything that has to be done differently than the normal install?

Yeap... not that I remember but that was a month ago and a new mod conflicted so I un-installed ;)

Give it a go though :D

S-MAN

SBlueman 01-04-2009 12:07 AM

So the same install instructions worked just the same? And what modification conflicted?

SBlueman 01-04-2009 03:58 PM

So is there a way to automatically plugin the username of the person you want the PM sent to? Some members find it tedious to have an extra step they didn't have before.

Brittany 01-04-2009 04:36 PM

installed. GREAT JOB!

thmst30 01-05-2009 03:22 AM

EXTREMELY nice mod. Very useful, thanks!!!

JJ the Fox 01-08-2009 04:15 PM

Does this work on 3.8 Gold?

Shishir 01-10-2009 07:23 AM

Good one.

Is there any way to read the message recieved like this, on popup. :)

Yes, I double-checked everything to be sure.

After a little more testing, I determined that the problem is only happening for me in Firefox 3. IE7 works fine.

I can verify this bug. The exact same problem happens to me - after closing the popup window and reopening it, the PM popup is blank; page refresh solves the problem, which only occurs in FF3. I disabled all Firefox plugins, but the problem still persists.

And also by leaving it empty does it mena that guest it loads for gests too? (even though they can't send PMs)

Also having same exact problem - usergroups must be specified or PM popup does not work.

metin 01-12-2009 08:41 AM

İnstalled ... nice works... thanks...

Trek 01-13-2009 04:03 AM

Has anyone gotten this to work with vB 3.8?

Leo Brazil 01-13-2009 04:36 PM

It's not working after upgraded to 3.8

I'm gonna try the manual templet edition to see how it goes.

Edit: After manual edition the MP box was messed up. Too bad.
