Does this mod have Linux ability? I'm using a computer with a Kubuntu Operating System which is a Linux OS. Would I be able to use this messenger on my computer? If not will there ever be any modifications to this mod done to allow it to be used on Linux?

banned users are able to use this. gunna have to implement some usergroup permissions on this. maybe making this a full plugin for the forum?

is there a way we can also make this show in the users postbit area and profile area that they are online on the messenger service?

also, need to figure out a way to either not show new post alerts, or a way to block forums ID's from the new post alert. if you have a RSS feed for news, it shows all the new threads the bot is posting.

pictures arent loading on the messenger also. is it suppose to show the avatar? 99% of users, well on my boards, use custom av's, .gif files. how can we make this pull the right code for the avatar?

This has potential at being a great mod. I will keep an eye on this one for sure! I too am interested in it being more customizable, will wait for future versions to see what happens. thanks.

never mind on post 125. i see that the image doesnt load if the avatar is on the server as a file, not in the db. need to figure out how to pull DB or direct file from avatar folder specified.

To get your avatar to be the actualy size of the avatar and look right in the messenger, open up picture.php in the package here and remove:

so it looks like

this will make the avatar load as actual size. if the avatar is huge tho, i would assume its gunna make the messenger look wierd. i havent tried a large size image, but ya.

saint i am, maybe that is a counter issue? on your forum admincp, do maintenance and update the threads and user profile stuff, close the messenger and relogin and see if it works

i got ideas for the program:

1. Contacts - have option to delete contact

2. Default load to Online Users only, not Everyone

3. Maybe make it similar to AIM, where the offline users are in a category on its own, and online users are seperate when online, instead of having radio buttons for online and everone

4. Adding a Settings area so we can alter the colors. Each client might wanna alter the colors of the program, you know, to play around with it a little, and style it

5. Take the Inbox and Subscriptions button off the interface. move those to the Settings (if made) so users can select those as shortcut options themselves. also maybe make the New Messages turn into a link to the inbox if a message is there.

6. change VBulletin Messenger 1.x to "vBulletin Messenger", and add a "Help>About" drop down menu and have that show the version number as "vBulletin Messenger X.X", like regular IM clients have. but changing the vBulletin messenger to lowercase v and big B is a small edit, sicne vbulletin is vBulletin ya know ;)

7. removing the extra text of contacts and forum that shows under the tabs when clicked. the forum tab shows forum with a + looking sign on the end or something. that extra text isnt needed, and maybe renaming Forum to New Post or Recent Posting (if this option stays)

8. Maybe interlacing this with cyb chatbox and other shoutbox mods on here that load realtime, might have to use some AJAX technology with it, dunno.

9. like i said a few post ago, having the images for the avatars pull from either DB or file structure. i just moved my images to DB and now my avatar is loading right. i altered the picture.php file to show the image right by removing the size codes. dunno how you can implement that on the client. maybe adding a option inside Tools>Settings for a option to show avatar or not, user choice.

10. allow users to make groups for the usernames on here like AIM and MSN messenger. i like to categorize my buddy list so i know who is who by either name and website or whatever.

11. adding a "log chat" option so if users wanna save chats or whatever, they can have the client write teh data to a text file on their drives, like AIM allows.

im sure ill come up with more in a few minutes

also excluding forums from showing in as recent post thru the client, dont want RSS bots and postings to show for no reason. i just had 25 boxes popup on my end cuz the bots posted their junk on time.
