The title and description details are just being finished off for dynamically populating via vBulletin 3.7 User Albums. A full size version will be released first, followed by 2 vBa CMPS versions for blocks, center and side.

bada_bing 08-06-2008 02:09 AM

Can you also include an intergration for vbportal not everyone uses vbadvance

Aclikyano 08-06-2008 02:12 AM

This XML version uses it's own album directories - it is not integrated with vBulletin 3.7.x user albums yet. However, this will be done in a future update.

^ ANY UPDATES ON THIS ?

Thanks Syrus... any ETA on the official release? Also, when you have a moment, would you please kindly to look at my questions on couple of pages back?

RedeemedWarrior 08-06-2008 04:56 AM

this will be a great addition :D

jdelasko 08-06-2008 06:02 AM

Demo? What Demo? All I see is a blank page.

RedeemedWarrior 08-06-2008 02:47 PM

the demo works for me :)

maybe you need to update your flash player?

tamiyausa 08-06-2008 05:49 PM

Looks great!, get well!

EvilJohn 08-06-2008 06:57 PM

To give the web site Admins control. I request that you have a setting to choose which albums are bridged. Even if its just one album. Thank You

Also, since this hack is going to intergrate with user album:
1/ is user album have to set as public in order for it to pull the images or it will even pull from private album?

2/ how many queries it will use?

Hi,

Sorry I missed your questions... my apologies

Pulling images from external sources (outside your own domain) requires a PHP proxy to workaround the Adobe cross-domain security in flash, this maybe looked at in a later version. Basically, for now it will just be for vBulletin 3.7 using a bridging script feed.

1. It will only pull images from public albums, for security reasons the data bridging file is setup not to allow direct access to albums, only the igallery can read the data.

2. Queries used will be very low due to the way the integration works.

The demo requires Adobe Flash browser plugin version 9.0 update 3.0 - this should automatically be shown if you access the page without the correct version. An auto-installer script is built-in to download the latest plugin, without leaving the site/page.

vBportal is quite straight forward to use. We have used it in the past for demonstrations, we will look at a block template structure for this portal.

We are doing some testing before releasing the main bridge - it also includes an updated iGallery. The new iGallery flash file allows designers to publish their own backgrounds to customize the iGallery further.

You will see from aforementioned posts that its nearly at a release stage. :)

Megatr0n 08-06-2008 11:55 PM

Looking forward to it.

Thanks so mush Syrus. Lowest query being used is the best mod. Looking forward to your latest release.

ADVANCED NOTIFICATION

Update 12th August 2008 release (Later today)

vB iGallery V2.0
On demonstration HERE.

As requested by many we have bridged this product to work with vBulletin 3.7 User Albums. Because this is just a temporary bridge, it has no AdminCP at present, this will change when we release a Multi-bridging Script which will allow you to choose what gallery you want, upload/delete background images, over 60 parameter settings which control camera position, globe settings, mirrors and much more.

The release today will allow the following:
  • Background Image Import
  • Pulls images from vBulletin 3.7 User Albums
  • Tweens images from thumbnails to Full size automatically
  • Resizes images automatically regardless if they are portrait or landscape view
  • Can read PNG, GIF and JPG formats (Animated GIFs are not supported by Flash, so these will be shown as static images)
  • By default it will be setup to pull the last images uploaded to any album, we have set this to pull the last 6 images per album (this can be changed to suit your own requirements)
  • vBulletin User Album 'Captions' have been setup to show within the 'Description' field. This field has been changed to multi-line to compensate for long captions entered within vBulletin.
The bridge does require a vBulletin default to be changed, this is to give the lowest possible SQL queries. vB iGallery will query the database for the caption data only, it has also been optimized by default parameters to be CPU friendly. Tooltips have been removed in V2.0 which would have caused unnecessary SQL queries.

Regards,

Syrus XL

awesome work, Syrus and your team. Would you please kindly let me know if today release is a prerelease or will be the final release? Also, I know that you mentioned "lowest possible SQL queries" but would it be possible for you to tell exact number?

Not sure it's my company PC or not but I am not able to see the Demo. It gave me blank screen.

This is a final release bridge for vBulletin 3.7, it uses no queries until it displays an image at full size then it makes only one query for the caption. Images use no queries at all.

rapidphim 08-12-2008 02:18 PM

sweet............................... waiting for your release.... (later today right?)

syrus.xl 08-12-2008 02:29 PM

Yeah, I just need to finish off the documentation (which includes how to optimize the vbulletin album system), and pop out for awhile then I'll be packing and releasing it. :)

Megatr0n 08-12-2008 02:33 PM

So, this will albums from users albums too?

You said this is the final release?

katie hunter 08-12-2008 02:51 PM

If I understand correctly, then Yes, it should be the final release for 2.0 version. And yes, it will pull the image from user album, which set public view (not private).

Are you trying to install the older version? I don't think he released the 2.0 yet.

Hmm ok Thanks (: then i will wait! Ya all these xml edit are so confusing to me :s

briansol 08-12-2008 08:48 PM

what's the performance like with no database?

The xml file must get huge quickly.

Is there a recomended 'max images' that this will support?

1. With no database it was very quick loading, but that is still using a non-optimized version of the flash file.

2. This would depend on how many images were defined by the user.

3. Well I populated it with over 100 images on test, but this was done dynamically and not using a static XML file.

Hi,

The new version which I'm about to release does away with all XML editing... its just a case of uploading the files and doing a bit of reconfiguration on user Albums. Everything else is automatically done via vBulletin.

macc 08-12-2008 11:20 PM

hello!

when will update come ?

regards

macc

syrus.xl 08-12-2008 11:54 PM

I'm just doing a couple of tweaks to the AS3.0 coding and description/caption box.

syrus.xl 08-13-2008 02:21 AM

UPDATE RELEASED:

As requested by many users... the 3.7 bridge version!

Next on the agenda is a vBa CMPS Block version - designed slightly smaller to fit a center block.

Enjoy the update! :D

veenuisthebest 08-13-2008 02:25 AM

whoa.. i am the first to download 2.0, let me check it ! thanks

macc 08-13-2008 02:41 AM

have only one questions ...i have prior version on my board ...can i use this new version like separate product or i must uninstall old version?

regards

macc

edit: can this product ver 2.0 destroy my another pruducts ... show album pictures on forum home ..exp ...when we use file system for album pictures?

briansol 08-13-2008 02:58 AM

100 images is a joke of a 'load test' IMO.

I will get that many uploaded a day...

what happens in 20 days when there's 2k images in it?

marc2005 08-13-2008 03:31 AM

Hi syrus.xl,

when "Move pictures into the file system with direct access to thumbnails", should i move to the folder under iGallery's folder "/albums/thumbs/" ? Thanks.

I was referring to populating the XML version dynamically under a test environment. V2 released last night is set to pull only 6 images from each album, this can be lowered for larger boards. It only shows the last few images uploaded to any album, not the whole allbum.

You cannot use both at the same time unless some file names are changed, and a few code changes.

No, Albums on FORUMHOME has been tested - its actually running on the demonstration forum. There are no conflicts or issues between the two modifcations.

Once this Action has been done, vBulletin will create a directory called /albums/thumbs/0/ and /album/0/ this should be left as it is. The bridge is setup to pull images directory from these two directories.
