I finally got it up and running.

How can I edit the Subject phrase used in the text message please ? My web site has a pretty long title and it's cutting off almost every text received by most providers.

abrecher 06-23-2008 07:40 PM

This definitely a nifty plugin but we need a way for users to be able to actually RESPOND to the sms! Right now it's one way communication.

DoB Rhapsody 06-23-2008 07:41 PM

Please add Helio for the US. They have a email to sms based service.

valdet 06-23-2008 07:50 PM

Can you add an option so only users from Buddy list can SMS members or something to that effect?

We want to avoid SMS harassment for our members.

Thanks

zorag 06-23-2008 07:57 PM

Any chance of adding Virgin Mobile UK

Also, I noticed that the mobile number input form is restricted to only 10 digits which restricts UK mobile numbers as most of these are 11 - is there a quick fix for this, maybe without having to edit the DB?

Excellent mod!

abrecher 06-23-2008 08:52 PM

It's pretty annoying having everyone post a request to add their local providers. It's going to take away from the usefulness of this thread.

Rob, can you set up an email address or something where users can send their mobile provider requests ? This way we can keep this thread in order and deal with the actual features, bugs etc.

robwoelich 06-23-2008 09:15 PM

rob@robwoelich.com like I've posted. :p

And yes, most of the complaints, requests, etc. are duplicates. Read the thread!

slcsr 06-23-2008 09:36 PM

USA tmobile is :

@tmomail.net not @tmomail.com

rinkrat 06-23-2008 09:42 PM

I'd like to see an option where they could pick a forum and receive thread titles from there. So if we have a breaking important news forum people coiuld subscribe to that and get important updates.

Keyser S?ze 06-23-2008 10:10 PM

theres no img here does anyone have one?

thanks

rinkrat 06-23-2008 10:41 PM

It's in the package under img

massizero 06-23-2008 10:59 PM

is it possible to use jaxtr.com to send sms?
Through jaxtr we could send sms to all the world

robwoelich 06-24-2008 01:00 AM

I'm working on as much of the above as I can, along with some other things. I don't want to rush it, so give me a few days. :) I have two days off work after tomorrow.

rinkrat 06-24-2008 01:15 AM

Installed, tested and working on the first attempt.

:)

Any way this can be expanded to alert us if certain words or phrases (any ASCII string up to some limit) appears anywhere in/on the VBulletin site?

TimberFloorAu 06-24-2008 06:53 AM

Installed. Untested as yet :)

Please get more Aussie Operators :)

Slight fault on display for firefox. Image attached ( fine on IE7 )

Boofo 06-24-2008 06:55 AM

What is it showing different than IE? I must not be seeing it.

Actually instead of asking to add a provider, the person requesting the addition should do their homework and send the developer the correct email address to use. Looking up email addresses will also take away from development time!

Boofo 06-24-2008 07:06 AM

Other than the asking of providers, the hack works as it is supposed to so support is not that big of issue right now.

Firefox Image and Internet Explorer Image.

Boofo 06-24-2008 07:18 AM

OK, see it now. No biggie as that can't be manually set, anyway.

Not sure about that. Doesnt seem to be an issue with most other websites, that have text tips in form fields.

Plus those who are on firefox, will wonder what it means. As the instructions, dont explain, that you leave that field blank.. as its untypeable until you click save

dxflw 06-24-2008 09:37 AM

how can we do this mod working for greece?

shlomot 06-24-2008 10:28 AM

Hello,

My members simply adore your nominated MOD, even more so after your last upgrade.

Can you please help our Israeli members with the three main carriers: Cellcom (052), Orange (054), Pelephone (050), and Motorola (057)?

I tried doing the job myself but couldn't come up with any constructive information.

Thank you very much for your great product and service.

subnet_rx 06-24-2008 01:34 PM

You can add Cellular South in the United States. There's is number@csouth1.net

Zaiaku 06-24-2008 02:17 PM

One feature that needs to be added is for only friends to be able to send you txt messages.

I second that.

I hope Rob makes it so for vB 3.6.x it uses members from Buddy list. Let just give him some time to develop.

I also agree that requests to add more providers are killing this thread. Anyone who got some basic skills can add his provider/email to the xml file alone.

abrecher 06-24-2008 08:42 PM

Our bbtitle is on the longer side. In the future it would be great if we can customize this directly from the admincp instead of having to modify the product code directly, thanks.

iogames 06-24-2008 10:26 PM

Why you don't set a gmail account and ask the users to send you a email from the phone and then you will get the companies' format!

you are strange Mr Boofo, I had seen you jump out from less dangerous quests :p

BeerLuver 06-24-2008 10:40 PM

Could you add this one the the U.S. choices:

Einstein PCS:
@einsteinsms.com & the number format before it is 1234567890 (10 digits)

I'm getting to old to play the Mighty Warrior these days. * sigh *

bobII 06-25-2008 03:13 AM

Great hack, do you plan on adding AT&T (US) to the list of service providers?

Guy Betten 06-25-2008 03:54 AM

If I am not mistaken, just chose Cingular as your provider and you are good to go, JPT.

Boofo 06-25-2008 04:23 AM

That is only the work-around and doesn't wok for all AT&T users. AT&T needs to be put back in. ;)

nike.stars 06-25-2008 05:41 AM

how about in indonesia? Here's the list of operators:
- Indosat
- Telkomsel
- Excelcomindo
- Three
- Axis
- Smart
- Flexi
- Esia
- Mobile8

Let me know if you had this add-on updated for my country :)

ka81 06-25-2008 09:37 AM

I guess it's wrong.

first of all, users of KyivStar should type a number of XXXXXXXXXXXX (12 numbers)
for example: 380671234567
where:
38067 - code of Ukraine + KyivStar
1234567 - number

Stryker412 06-25-2008 12:01 PM

I second a request for usergroup options. I would only like to enable this for our admins.

Koroku 06-25-2008 10:37 PM

Whenever I try to send a text message, even though I have the options checked, I get:
Quote:

Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails. If you still wish to send an email to this user, please contact the administrator and they may be able to help.
Help?

A: The way the plugins are set up, the sendmail form checks email settings and permissions before it gets down to where the text messaging stuff is. So, if a member doesn't want to be emailed, they can't be texted either.

That almost makes sense, but it's something I'd like to fix next release.

The instructions are your friend. ;)
