has anyone else noticed that some smilies become smaller when added to this modification?

My only request would be that the smilies be disabled by default so that it is easier to manage (in our case we have a number of user groups and only paid subscription members get to use their own smilies, so it was quite a bit of work to have to go and edit ALL the other user groups.)

It would have been much simpler if the default setting was to have it turned off and I could enable it for who I wanted, instead of having to disable it for everyone else

This is in the new version I am releasing today :)

I still can not reproduce this problem, and I have tried a lot of different environments and web browsers. As I can not reproduce it, I can not fix it.

So, what I am going to do, is add an admincp option to allow you and others to select which method(s) for uploading smilies they will see:
  • Upload from PC
  • Enter URL for image from another website
  • Both of the above (default)

That way if you have an issue with one method or another (a very small percentage of you), or you want to restrict which method your end users are allowed to use, you can now do so.

I will be releasing this updated version today.

That is the normal behaviour for this hack (instead of not allowing the image to be uploaded).

If a user tries uploading an image that is larger in dimensions than those specified for his usergroup, then the image will down-sized to the maximum dimensions allowed for that usergroup.

Update: v3.7.005
-- Fixed: Workaround for people having issues with uploading smilies from a url
-- Added: AdminCP Option to allow for which upload option shows for the end user
-- Added: Phrase for navbits - this hack is now fully phrased
-- Changed: mysmiliesvb.php file
-- Changed: MYSMILIES_MAIN template
-- Changed: Usergroup permissions - Can use custom smilies? now set to No by default

vfaguilera 10-01-2008 12:24 AM

Hostboard 10-01-2008 11:22 AM

Upgraded.

Thank you!

Bill from Cleve 10-01-2008 01:38 PM

Works great! Thanks!

sflmkv 10-01-2008 01:56 PM

upgraded to latest version and still having url issue, such a great a plugin :( also, for some strange reason using the new option of only showing the upload feature doesn't work.

Please elaborate, tell me exactly what is happening... as it should not be possible for the new options not to work, unless the instructions have not been followed to the letter, i.e. as it is an upgrade, everything needs to be over-written/upgraded.

sflmkv 10-02-2008 12:36 AM

everything has been overridden and reinstalled properly :(

Betablocker 10-02-2008 03:35 AM

The new version should have worked, [s]so I can not suggest anything more without checking out your installation.

If you want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, a temp admin user (with admin permissions - Can Administer Settings for editing options, Can Administer Styles for editing templates, Can Administer Language Settings for editing phrases, Can Administer Plugins for editing products and plugins, and finally Can Run Maintenance Tools for running queries), and ftp access details, without these I can not help you. I will look when I have time, and even if I have a look, I can not guarantee that I will be able to fix it, especially if your site is not in English (I only read/write in English), so it is up to you what you want to do. You can revoke these after I have helped you out.

If you do not want me to take a look, then[/s] there is nothing else I can do to help.

Usergroup settings are at 100x100
imported smiley is 30 x30 yet it ends up being 23 x23
no big deal really but just thought id point it out..

this is a hack i have been waiting for, for quite some time..

skywalker2208 10-07-2008 12:53 AM

One of my users try to upload this smiley, but it doesn't bring the animated part of it. It stays at the start of the animation. Any reason why? Below is the link for the smiley.

I have completely lost the urge to continue working on this hack (it was only ever meant to be an interim port of Kentaurus's hack, while we were waiting for him to release his official updated version), so as of now, this hack has been discontinued - this means that while it will remain available for download and use, there will be no further updates, nor will support be provided as the thread is no longer monitored.

NOTE: I have marked this hack as Re-usable Code - This means that code from this hack may be used in other hacks, which can ONLY be released on official vB sites that use Jelsoft's verification system to verify your vBulletin license status, and as long as Kentaurus and I are credited in your hack.

J3rico 10-07-2008 11:20 AM

Edit : solved ! tnx :)

Ljusya 10-27-2008 03:59 AM

wonderful modifycation but unfortunartly i should uninstall it :-(

Martell 11-09-2008 08:11 AM

SatSeeker 12-08-2008 03:55 PM

It doesnt work with 3.8 for some reason when you install the xml it states that it wont work but is only available up to version 3.7.99.

If i could figure out how to tweak this then it should work.

Lautaro 01-27-2009 08:55 PM

Hello, i really like this mod, but I have vBulletin 3.8.0 and so I can't use it, is there any way to make it compatible with 3.8.x ???

Thanks.

open the xml and search for maxversion="3.7.99", replace that with "3.8.99". in our board the addon still works fine on 3.8

Keyser S?ze 03-26-2009 01:11 PM

neat hack, anyone gunna update it for 3.8?

Eric 04-17-2009 01:21 PM

No promises.. but I'm going to take a look at the code, and I *may* take the mod over. Will post back soon.

Se?or Ramos 04-30-2009 09:45 PM

Is there any way to set the number of mysmilies that a person can have at once?

Se?or Ramos 05-05-2009 07:44 PM

*shameless bump* I've somehow lost the ability to add smilies because the max is set to zero. I did not make this change, seeing as I don't know how to do it lol. Thanks!

Er... you're asking for help setting up usergroup settings, right? :) After making sure the vBulletin Options>My Smilies VB Options is set up correctly, go into each usergroup you want to have the ability to add smilies and scroll down to "MySmiliesVB permissions" (its the third section down for me, your mileage may vary) and make sure those settings are to your satisfaction. I can't remember any more if its set to zero by default.

Se?or Ramos 05-07-2009 02:27 PM

And voila! Thank you very much, I would not have thought to check in the usergroup editor. I would +Rep if I could.

Thank you

Works fine on v3.8.3 :)

Eric 08-03-2009 03:13 PM

I'm almost finished with my port to vB 3.8 - it does fix some errors folks seem to have been having, along with some bugs that may not be visible to the naked eye :P

Eric 08-04-2009 08:53 PM
