nice mod!!
Thanks!! : )

lstintxs100 08-09-2008 08:38 AM

if there are attachment in the post saved to the file system it gives an error that the attachment can not be found.

is there a workaround for this?

Phalynx 08-11-2008 07:12 AM

Cannot confirm this. When do you get the message?

lstintxs100 08-13-2008 05:36 AM

I got the message after uploading a number of pdf documents to the forum. I store them in the file system due to the size of the files. they can be a few k in size to over a 100 meg.

I uploaded a number of files and then changed the name of the user associated with the files. When I went to look at the files to download them for testing I get the error. I Then moved the owner of the thread back to the original person who posted the message and was able to download the files fine.

jack-d 08-17-2008 03:19 AM

I have previews and attachments as zip files. The only thing this has done is change the users name. When viewing the thread after a change the preview is now a red X and the attachment gives an error page.

So unless this can move the attachments from one users folder to the new one this will not work.

And as above, change it back to the original user and everything is fine.

Nice mod. Using it to redate announcment posts that I had in CMPS modules so they show up in proper order.

Thanks,

Bob

Daisyboo 08-25-2008 06:59 PM

Great mod thank you!
I use it so that certain threads and posts can be changed to my Admin username :)

kud0gfx 09-01-2008 11:07 PM

is there some way to do it via postbit legacy, not with the dropdown menu?

thx!

YLP1 09-04-2008 05:09 AM

I just want to say THANK YOU! For this mod...it was a lifesaver after I merged two large forums together ----Thank you so much!

yamahapaul 09-04-2008 10:05 AM

Installed, excellent mod thanks

ibar726 09-10-2008 09:53 PM

Really great mod, although I am having one little problem with it. When changing the time on multiple posts at once, vb for whatever reason reverses the order of the posts. So the last post in the thread becomes the first, and the first becomes the last. So I was wondering if there was anyway that the time change could be done incrementally?

So that if I select 3 posts in a thread and tell it to change the post's time to 08 00 00, then that would be the time of the first post, the 2nd post would be changed to 08 00 01 or 08 01 00 (and the 3rd 08 00 02 or 08 02 00)? Do you think this might be possible?

Or if that isn't possible do you know how vb determined the post order, that an option could be put in to reverse the order of post processing (thereby putting things back in the correct order)?

rinkrat 09-16-2008 01:57 AM

this is sweet! Works perfectly.

GaiLoan 09-19-2008 09:14 PM

I said it *should* work, I used the word should because of the introduced template hooks. If you are using old templates you don't have the hooks.

Options are not displayed. How do I add them manually?
If you choose to not automatically add both options you have to add that options manually.

1. Disable automatic template edit in the Change threads/posts owner settings

2. Open the template FORUMDISPLAY.

Search for:
Code:

<option value="mergethread">$vbphrase[merge_threads]</option>
Add after it:
Code:

<option value="changethreadsowner">$vbphrase[changethreadsowner_link]</option>

3. Open the template SHOWTHREAD

Search for:
Code:

<option value="undeleteposts">$vbphrase[undelete_posts]</option>
Add after it:
Code:

<option value="changepostsowner">$vbphrase[changepostsowner_link]</option>

Great Advice for vB 3.6.8, works fine on that Version but requires this Template Edits for the Options to Appear.

My Best Regards.

:)

I have a question regarding this mod. I know you already said the purpose is to change thread and post owners, but what about post count as well as attachments? Will those all be automatically be updated too? As in the owner of the attachments would change from one user to the other, and if the post count would also be altered. Thanks.

elprince 09-21-2008 02:08 AM

installed and tested and wokring just fine ... but iam afraid of having a hack editing in my database :(

Why not reading the part "Features" of the description?

kalisekj 10-02-2008 05:31 PM

I have hired help from Pakistan creating threads when they are done I need to change all the threads to my name. This will work perfectly. THANK YOU!

Found a bug with this mod... it doesnt hasn't 12-HOUR clocks. If a post was made at 6:30 PM... the edit box will automatically enter 6:30... the problem is that it should be entering 18:30... So if I edit anything, the time gets pushed back 12 hours.

edermix 11-01-2008 01:22 AM

Excelente my dear!!

raja811 11-06-2008 12:26 AM

nice

Sticky1 11-06-2008 11:00 AM

L@@Ks ok but,......

I saw all of the above. I am transferring trheads from a crap board to a vbull forum. There isnt any good way of transferring other than cutting and pasting (unless you know of a way)? I assume this will allow me to place the name and date of the original post??

If so: How do I install and use..?

Yep - I am green.

Thanks in advance....

Phalynx 11-10-2008 11:28 AM

Sticky1, you will need to use Impex (if it's supporting your old forum)

Sticky1 11-14-2008 11:46 AM

Ok so now that I have installed and tested, I have found it to be very usefull.

One Comment - Even "New" people need help with the installation. This Lacks Here!:(

The4um 11-15-2008 04:50 AM

Very nice, thank you

InsaneNutter 11-16-2008 01:34 PM

This works fine apart from if the post has an attachment in.

Basically after changing the owner of the post the attachment won’t be found, however if you change the post owner back to the member who uploaded the attachment it works fine.

I don’t suppose there is a work around for this?

Phalynx 11-21-2008 05:58 AM

InsaneNutter, cannot confirm this with 1.7

Running 3.6.8 Pl2 and had to follow the above instructions to manually add the options. It all showed up fine.
My test user (registered forum user - usergroup #2) was assigned moderator permissions and was able to successfully alter the thread author even though usergroup 6 was the only usergroup assigned permissions. Is there a way to prevent forum moderators from having the ability to change a threads author ... or have I bulllsed up somewhere?

Gustafsson 11-25-2008 08:23 PM

Thanks for this mod. I'm using it on my site to change the date and time for my RSS news (when an RSS feed is added for the first time all the news get the same date and time). The mod is working great, except for some minor problem with the time. For example, if I want the new time to be 6PM I need to set the time to 12.00 with this mod.

TheLastSuperman 11-25-2008 09:10 PM

I'm glad they do send the reminders regarding what you have downloaded but not installed! Sorry I forgot to click install the other week but it is done now!

Love this! Used it the first minute it was installed so BIG THANKS :D

Looks like this hack doesn't account for apostrophes. I get a DB error when the username has one in it.

TalkPhotography 12-09-2008 08:50 PM

Works great (3.7.4), it changes the owner of a post great.

But it misses the post edit history! :)

Sunka 12-14-2008 04:32 AM

Installed.
Thank you!

Bro_Joey_Gowdy 01-01-2009 01:24 PM

*waits for the 3.8.0 release*

Subah 01-07-2009 10:11 AM

Thanks for the Update ;)

readjono 01-07-2009 10:23 AM

1.8 seems to be working fine here. Thanks :)
