GREAT MOD!!
I have a style problem: In Internet Explorer the "Collapse button" remains on one line not at the left side... Anyone having the same problem? How can I fix this? See attached image. |
I've just upgraded and the side columns are showing where I have set them in the admin, however I have several pages which do not show side columns because they are not included in the list.
These are mostly pages which have been created by other mods, but version 2.0 worked on all pages. How do I get this feature back?! |

You haven't uploaded the files in the upload folder. Upload the files in the upload folder then reimport the product. Quote:

This is clearly stated in the upgrade instructions, in the first post of this thread, in the post that was added when the update was released, and was stated in the notification of an update that was sent out to people that have marked this as installed. It is very important to read instructions and follow them exactly. |

You edit the templates called block_ as per the instructions. |
right then, I know this should be clear by now, but it appears that there is a lot of problems following instructions.
USC 2.1 has additional files. You need to upload the files first BEFORE importing the product 2.2 did have more features. Going off the number of people having problems following the instructions to upgrade to 2.1 this is now being scrapped. 2.2 is now going to be a bug fix release only. The new features are going on indefinite hold and earmarked for 3.0 which will be created when I have time and released when instructions can be followed as it will be complex for the initial setup. As I have previously mentioned, USC has a life of its own and is evolving rapidly. The more it evolves the more complex it will become. If a relatively simple version is causing so much difficulty then version 3.0 is going to have to be rethought. This will not happen quickly as a lot of though needs to be put in to the plans for the future of it. |
Thanks Kerry. Finally got this working. However, one slight problem.
I cannot figure out where the line break is coming from. The column should be even with the rest of the forum, left side. I added the below in the block 11 template, nothing else. Code:
<tr> |
bad html mate.
Your missing a </tr> after Code:
<tr> |
True, but that did not fix the extra line break at the start of the right side column (top) as shown in the picture.
Also, not sure why you assume I use IE. I'm using Firefox, occasionally Opera. I used to use your old right side column only hack for 3.6 which never caused that extra break on top. edit: $vbgallery code (from Photoposts's Vbgallery) no longer works on forumhome either after using USC |
I fixed the extra line break
Code:
<td valign="top"> Just need to get the photo gallery code working. |
Excellent work, thank you very much!

Hi,
Someone here can explain me why in Ultimate Side Columns Options, the Display pages for right and left columns options show "An error occurred while processing the bitfield files, the following information was returned:" ??? :( |
For some reason I probably don't know how to make it work but would like the custom another catagory on the side column. I have tried a few times and nothing is showing up as in the screen shots up there for the custom template. Is there a code that I need to use for this to show up?
Love this though I have been wanting a two column forums! :) thanks for all your work! www.soberodaat.com/forums |
Chadi thanks for putting that code up there I copied and paste and it show me how to make the categories now :) I do like your bible verse things also :) just don't know how to do that java thinngggieee I am a newbie as ya can see if I can't even figure out how to code columns. LOL

[QUOTE=Kerry-Anne;1518091]It's making a comeback in 2.2 - I sorta forgot about it in 2.1 :(
AWESOME! Thanks for the heads up! I can't wait! |
I'm trying to pull some of the info from the What's Going On forumhome area to one of the blocks in the right side column (also on the forumhome strictly). The problem is that it is not giving the output at all for a simple request:
$activeusers Is there something else that must be done in the backend to allow this to output correctly? |

Just copy/paste the <script>...</script> codes as you wish. They're free from heartlights.org |
Further clarification, not even this hack is able to pull the poll info in the USC block
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...=155170&page=2 So basically so far I've noticed USC does not pull info for: - the poll hack above - latest gallery posts (vbgallery) - forum stats They used to work fine in the 3.6 version of your right-side forumhome only hack. The reason I switched is because that older hack had endless W3C errors. |
Hi,
pretty good an helpful Add-on. Here are some custom changes that I made to collapse the sidebar total (At least with Firefox an IE not working with Safari). At my Site this only available for Users but it belong to you where you like to put in the Code. My usc_sidecolumn_left: Code:
<td valign="top"> Code:
<a href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('usc_left')"><img class="inlineimg" id="collapseimg_usc_left" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_sidebar$vbcollapse[collapseimg_usc_left].gif" alt="" border="0" /></a> Christian |
How can i add picture in the column ??

http://www.peterska2.co.uk/profile.p...ditattachments Can you see if you get an error on your page? Because I get the following error on my site when going to the similiar link:
Code:
Fatal error: Cannot use assign-op operators with overloaded objects nor string offsets in /homepages/22/d198817824/htdocs/profile.php(3669) : eval()'d code on line 30 If I disable this, I can access that page fine, but if it is enabled, I get the above error. |

For put in pictures use Standard HTML in the ?usc_block_X? Templates. For what you see in the screenshot above your Post (Icon with Link) Code:

Hi,
I can“t remember exactly but I had something similar after the update to 3.7. The reason was vBCredits. If you have this Mod running you need to update. Christian |

[edit] I've found the problem. It is something to do with the auto edits. I'm still looking into it but a fix is that if the autoedits are disabled and the manual edits used that it will resolve the problem. [edit 2] I've put a fix in which disables the display of the columns in all profile.php pages. I haven't found the reason for this yet or why it only affects that one particular page. |

Well I see the problem, the Zip file seems to keep generating little error messages about missing files. When I auto extracted the zip file it just pulled out what it could and in this case missed the entire uploads folder. Was this zip compiled on a Mac by any chance?
|
Yes, it was :)
I'm going to be bringing out 2.2 very soon. I just need to finalize the changes and remove the additional code I've been working on for 3.0 before packaging it up. |
I'm pleased to announce that USC 2.2 has been released
USC 2.2 Change Log: Fixed bug with profile.php?do=editattachments Added All Pages options Upgrade instructions are available in the zip file. |

These are things that are on my 3.0 wish list. 3.0 is not yet in active development. Please remember that the modification you were using was a simple template edit. USC is not a template edit. USC is a complex modification that is getting more complex with every major release. It is not however a portal system nor is it intended to be. I still do and always will recommend simple template modifications over complex modifications where the modification is only required on one page and is required to be able to access existing page specific and non-global functions. |
I dont see where you add the html to the blocks, no blocks for me to add the html in. This is my screenshot.

edit the templates called block_*
Its in the instructions and readme file :) |
V2.2 working fine, thank you very much Kerry-Anne...:)

thanks for this product, however a little suggestion:
I know there is already extensive support for what pages the sidebar should appear on. But can't you add 2 text fields in the options page for default pages to include/exclude. most pages have an identifier, in example 'payments.php' has: define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'payments'); So maybe a text field: include sidebar on pages (and then the this_script identifiers seperated with commas), like: payments, usercp, ... same thing for exclude. This could be useful for modifications where you want to disable/enable the navbar... for example, I want to see the sidebar on all pages, except on a page of a mod that hase already a 3 column layout, so the sidebar would be to much. Then this option would be very useful... |
If it is a popular modification that you are referring to then let me know which one and I'll add it into the options. I'm always a bit wary of adding too many options, especially ones where there is free input allowed as it is more likely to be a failure point for people who misunderstand the setting or set it incorrectly. If I was able to provide more support time for this then it wouldn't be too much of an issue, but at the moment it is not going to be practical because it has a high likelihood of causing issues for the average user. Adding additional exceptions via the plugins is possible for people who have a moderate understanding of PHP and will be easier when more comments are added to the code in the plugins (they pretty much just contain the code with little to no comments at the moment).
