Would not display, checked the navbar, and did not see any issues, unless I'm blind. :)

Boofo 05-14-2008 04:53 PM

Did you set the settings?

odln018 05-14-2008 05:01 PM

Yes sir

Boofo 05-14-2008 05:04 PM

Then either you have a skin that is different or a hack that has changed the line it searches for. Either one can be fixed to work with this.

It works, it really does. I swear it does. Please believe me? ;)

Haven't got the default unfortunatly, only the custom skin as the other one was deleted. I'm running 3.7.0.

Boofo 05-14-2008 07:37 PM

PM me a link to your site and I will take a look.

nikki712 05-14-2008 08:38 PM

I LOVE this!!! I am gonna have even more fun w/it when I know how to edit the XML file to say what I want it to say. (I wanna add stuff!)

Okay, I think I have enough sense to add things to the first part of the file (below).

Code:

$vbphrase[ung_punctuation] = $vbphrase[ung_question];
} elseif ($navbar_localtime < '04:00') {

But, don't I also have to add code at the bottom of the page where you see stuff like:

Code:

<phrase name="ung_dinner" date="1204846288" username="Boofo" version=""><![CDATA[What's for dinner]]></phrase>
If I have to add code to the bottom of the page, how do I know what numbers to use in the "date" section of the code above?

Boofo 05-14-2008 10:53 PM

You can just do date="". It doesn't need to be filled in. What I usually do is install the hack and then go in and edit the code and phrases so I can test is as I edit it. If you come up with any good ones, post them here and I will think about adding them.

nikki712 05-14-2008 11:05 PM

Thanks! I'm gonna have a ball with this, lol. I'm thinking of adding some really corny, hokey stuff like "Where's the beef" ("famous" phrases), and then some of my own. My members don't know I'm doing this, so when I add something new, they're like "WTH?"! GREAT hack. Simple, but one of my favs. You rock! :)

wickedstangs 05-14-2008 11:56 PM

nice Mod. I install this mod and other mods I installed were'nt working properly and now they are fixed :)

KanmaiseR 05-15-2008 05:25 AM

I have "Got milk?" and "It's 11 o'clock, do you know where your children are?" in there already that run one minute each once per 24 hours. ;)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

wilburshere 05-15-2008 09:53 AM

nice one *installed* thank you

RedTrinity 05-15-2008 11:05 AM

This feature is gold, within 12 hours of installing it, members had already started a thread speculating on what the 'forum' was telling them and the diff messages they had seen :D

Seemed to freak out a couple of them at first thinking it was some kind of prank LOL!

But they love it, so thanks Boofo - very original idea :)

Boofo 05-15-2008 11:09 AM

The real names is a nice touch if you aren't using that yet. And thank you for the kind words. ;)

Super Jinni 05-15-2008 11:52 AM

this is really fun..
thanks
:D

Boofo 05-15-2008 11:53 AM

The don't forget the install button. You don't want to miss any updates. ;)

Boofo, could I get similar assistance?

mauro1947 05-16-2008 04:10 PM

I can't make this mod work :(
@Boofo: I already checked templates and all the things i tought that can help. If i give you URL, can you check it please?
Thanks a lot.
Regards!

Boofo 05-16-2008 04:34 PM

PM me the info.

belceb 05-16-2008 08:26 PM

Why in another language are not displaying messages?

Boofo 05-16-2008 08:29 PM

Looks like the line has changed. Post the default line for that in the navbar template.

Do you have this hack installed by chance?

just awesome thanks so much!

Super Jinni 05-21-2008 11:52 PM

hey, I have one request if possible

I like this hack but I don't want to be every several hours, I want to be every day. ^^

is there anyway to do that?

Boofo 05-21-2008 11:55 PM

Sure, but that would take making a whole new hack to do it. ;)

you know, I like this one.. but I need the one I talked about it more than this, and I'm sure there is a lot of people will like it just like this one..

I think it worths making a new one beside this one..

and I think that won't take much time from you ;)

thanks

I really like your work here

:)

Boofo 05-23-2008 02:53 AM

It's not as easy as you think, I'm afraid. Not and have it work according to the user's timezone, anyway. I will look into it and see what I can figure out, but I am making no promises. ;)

Super Jinni 05-23-2008 09:24 AM

I've looked for this.. and because I'm still under newbie level to php I didn't figure out how to edit it to make the sentences change only once a day..

I was thinking about removing some of the codes which they are related to the times of sentences changing..

so I thought it will be very easy if an expert like you do it ;)

thanks for taking my request in consideration..

Boofo 05-23-2008 09:34 AM

Not easy, but doable, I suppose. Although I'm not sure why you would only want it to change each day.

Super Jinni 05-23-2008 02:19 PM

ok, I'll tell you why

I think my idea is a little different form yours in this hack

I want to to show members everyday a new sentence, like "saying, aphorism, advice, require, etc..."

:)

got it?

Boofo 05-23-2008 02:24 PM

Why don't you set up a daily quote to do that? That would be easier and allow you to have infinite sayings.

Now... you got it? ;)

Super Jinni 05-23-2008 02:41 PM

hahaha

I didn't think about it.. ^^

I'll try it then tell you..

do I need to change any thing in the xml file for that or just set daily quote

sorry, >>>>>>>>>>>> newbie :D

thanks

Boofo 05-23-2008 03:07 PM

The daily quote would have to be a separate hack. There is a Quotes DB hack available here on the org. Take a look at that and see if it will fill your need for that and let me know. ;)

Super Jinni 05-25-2008 10:56 PM

ok, I quit

I couldn't figure out how to set up a daily quote because my poor knowledge in php, I took a several php lessons and what I learned still not enough to do such things..

so can you tell me please how to do that? ^^

thanks :)

Boofo 05-25-2008 11:05 PM

Did you find the Quote DB hack on here?

Super Jinni 05-25-2008 11:15 PM

do you mean this one here:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=135297

Boofo 05-25-2008 11:21 PM

Yes.

Super Jinni 05-25-2008 11:24 PM

ok, but I don't know if it exactly what I need..
I'll try it first..

thanks :)

Boofo 05-25-2008 11:29 PM

Good idea. ;)

Super Jinni 05-25-2008 11:55 PM

ok, I tried it just now, but it's not what I want :(

it takes a lot of space where ever I want it to be shown up..

I want to be in your way in this thread in the navbar instead of greeting..

that will be very cool if it can be ^^

thanks man :)
