Paul, I used this one for years, into 3.68...

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=103046

Reputation comments in Postbit.

I know you can make one better....

OcR Envy 05-13-2008 12:33 PM

Is there no way manually edit the navbar template to include this? I have a custom style which this mod does not seem to like and does not display.

I got it to work with the $unread variable however the $rcount isn't displaying anything? Will it display if I have no new rep comments?

Kinneas 05-13-2008 01:02 PM

Don't believe it displays unless you have a rep comment.

This is a php error, your allowed (php) memory size seems very small, you need to increase it.

The host says that the database error happens when there are more than 50 queries. Anyone trying to access the site instead gets a slash screen that says database error:

This is literally the entire text of the error:

The database has encountered a problem.
Please try the following:

* Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
* Open the www.***mysite.com home page, then try to open another page.
* Click the Back button to try another link.

The www.***mysite.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

You need to right click on the page and view the source, that will show you the real error. TBH, it sounds like you need a new host.

Not Uninstall mysql error

scdurwood 05-14-2008 11:44 PM

the unread portion works great for me...

...the notification part not so much....

...what I get is a generic "Your notifications: ##" with a drop down arrow next to it...

...the drop down doesn't do anything on click and the link doesn't click over even though the status bar shows it pointing to the UserCP...

...is it supposed to differentiate between new PMs and rep points?

You uninstall it using the product manager.

Rottimom 05-18-2008 09:15 AM

Hello,

I have vers. 3.7.005 into my vB 3.7.0 installs, it is shown to nothing in the navbar, though.
Of vB 3.6.7 ( here the old add On still worked after the update) on vB 3.7.0, the Template navbar still is not revised completely. Perhaps it is due to it?
Would be possible for me there to be the code for the unread Posts which displays these, you revise to the Template completely so that I can manually install it in the right place?

Sorry, unfortunately, English is not my language, therefore I translate this text by a tool.

Greetings Rottimom

Paul M 05-18-2008 11:03 AM

There are no template modifications for this - as the big note says, it attaches itself to certain phrases (which have changed between 3.6 and 3.7, so if you have a customised navbar, you may need to revert/re-edit it).

shinydarkstone 05-18-2008 08:02 PM

Yes, use the provided "Links Prefix Path" option.

scdurwood 05-20-2008 02:36 AM

even on the default vb 3.7 style it does not detail which type of notification is displayed. Would you be willing to look at my code to see if there is a phrase in my navbar that is missing? Works fine for me except for this one bug.

Paul M 05-20-2008 06:44 AM

If you PM me admin access and the exact issue then yes, i'll take a look.

Jason Buchanan 05-21-2008 12:09 AM

Anyway to turn so others can see reputation? Such as a buddy of mine looks at my profile and can see what my rep is and who left what comments?

mariocaz 05-21-2008 12:31 AM

Very nice, thank you!!

DDIG 05-21-2008 08:18 AM

Would it be possible to add the "x unread posts since your last visit" to the "Your notifications" dropdown? I don't want my breadcrumbs header to grow vertically (which this mod does).

How can I do that?

Paul M 05-21-2008 10:25 AM

Sorry but I have no intention of doing that, on anything except the most quiet of forums you would always have a notification. I also like it to be visible without having to click on anything.

DDIG 05-21-2008 11:06 AM

That makes sense. I thought since reputation comments is optional from within the admin cp 'latest unread posts' may also be there. Most users click on 'latest posts' in the navbar anyway. Thanks for the mod.

petersweb 05-22-2008 12:38 PM

Thanks Paul - great Mod!

I use vbPortal and have copied the code to my /global.php file which allows it to be seen in the notifications area on the Portal pages. Only problem is that the URL on the "Unread Posts" link is incorrect. Where can I alter the URL so it points to /forum/seach.php?

Paul M 05-22-2008 04:57 PM

Use the Links Prefix setting.
