not sure if this is a problem on my end or the upload xml. But, my sendmessage.php is not send_message.php? When I hit contact us it goes to a blank screen had to change it to sendmessage.php.

This thread is about welcome headers. Thank you.

Are there any notices showing up in the manager at this time? Did you try and install this previously?

Hornstar 05-09-2008 08:26 PM

Just wondering if the welcome headers message is now placed in line with vbseo recommendations?

The notices system (which is built in to vBulletin) shows up above the navbar by default. As I last checked, vbSEO recommends placing it below the navbar and using an image rather than test for any guest message.

An updated version (5.0.2) has been released which contains a fix in the link for

sendmessage.php. Upgrading is not required, this can be fixed by manually changing the phrase from send_message.php to sendmessage.php.

Thanks for that tip.

This mod is by far one of the best I've imported. It helps increase postings from new users (if you know what phrases to use) like crazy! Nice work, forever installed alongside the Notifications function.

Big Boss 05-10-2008 01:22 PM

Thanks for the latest update, Ted. :)

Vinyljunky 05-10-2008 02:51 PM

Excellent mod :up:

Define "isn't working". Where does it take you? What does that page show?

Charlie98902 05-11-2008 12:29 PM

Nothing takes me anywhere, this is in IE 7 as well I should of mentioned. I have yet to test firefox. Here is the notice I used:

Under the settings drop down box put a check next to registered members except change registered members to not logged in.

Hmmm odd that, you are now showing this http://www.dvdnextcopysupportforum.com/%4$s as your contact page.

I altered the address in the notice via ACP but you can do it in the .php file.

Charlie98902 05-11-2008 01:29 PM

That was using the notices & not a php file. I may have done it wrong?

AdrianH 05-11-2008 01:41 PM

If in doubt Ted has added an updated file,just download and import the new version which has the corrected code.

Charlie98902 05-11-2008 01:50 PM

I just installed this last night so I think I do have the newer version? Can we use bbcode in place of html on this too? This might be an option for me?

Charlie98902 05-11-2008 02:35 PM

BBCODE don't work but I did manage to alter the HTML for the 2 links so I am good to go now.

When I click "Contact Us" in I.E. 7 it takes me to the contact page correctly located at http://www.dvdnextcopysupportforum.com/sendmessage.php.

Charlie98902 05-11-2008 05:22 PM

Thanks Ted this is a great mod just needed to learn HTML a bit more. I have changed it since my initial post and confirmed it is working. I just used a different html method than prior.

Zagis 05-12-2008 12:28 PM

Never mind I found it, thanks :)

I've upgraded my board and followed the steps. But now I am not able to display the message. Any idea why?

You'll need to be more specific on this. Do you have any notices showing up in your notices manager? Have you reverted or changed your templates to include the notices variable?

mark|3 05-22-2008 03:09 PM

Under Notices Manger I have "Guest" targeting the guest.
I have not changed or reverted my template since the update. Did I miss out anything?
Thanks

Well that explains it! They've added a new bit of code to the navbar template which you'll need to add:

HTML Code:

<if condition="$show['notices']">
 <table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
 <tr>
  <td class="thead">$vbphrase[notices]</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
  <td class="alt1">$notices</td>
 </tr>
 </table>
 <br />
</if>

Anywhere near the end of the file is fine.

HobaZ 05-22-2008 10:30 PM
