Is there any way you guys would look at using the CLA Geographic Awareness Mod as a seed for this Mod?

That way there would be no need for users to go to the trouble of adding their coordinates / location in?

When I go the page.... this is the error at the top of the page... "Warning: file_get_contents(vbmembermap/data/.data) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /vbmembermap.php on line 594"

No map shows up at the bottom either.

It looks like you forgot to configure the standard-map. This can be done in the map-options (in admincp).

whisper: We are already working on it (with GeoIP-Data from every big city...) :)
But not as a seed. We do not like to use external services...
because there are some boards where a very high-privacy-standart is important.

Good news indeed as that would greatly simplify adding users to the maps - and as I'd like to use the map as a moderators only function.....

Why would a site provide some info from their site which is useful to us. I think gettin a database is really a tough job. Still m lookin for the same thing.

script thing is good thing... !!! but what ever go down can also come up again :D

Sweet mod. I am going to try to to add a stadium for season ticket holders to place a pin where their seats are. Anything special I need to do or just overwrite an existing map with the one I am attaching?

Ok your new USA map is working, but as members start filling in there zip codes it shows there flag in the wrong area. It shows some cities in between other cities when we know that location is not right.

I mentioned using fictional or alternate maps and they liked the idea, but it won't be added as feature until later. From what Vossi said, it would take custom geodata and rebuilding tables. So really it isn't possible right now without extensive modding on your part. Sorry. :(

Dammit! Thanks for the info tho. Without reading the instructions to this, I thought the pins were placed and remembered on a simple x and y axis, not by zipcode.

The state has to be extracted from the map, actually it can be done without problems but just needs some time.

A small bug-report:

Your check for write-permission for $datafile and $mapoutput does not work on a windows-based server:

I had to comment out these lines to get it to work. Actually that's no surprise having the different file-systems in mind. On monday I can report the output of "fileperms()" from my system.

I have just installed this hack, but when I click on the link in the navbar, I have this error :

Check that you have set all the permissions and uploaded the required files to the correct directories. That error is saying that it can't find the file that is referenced on line 594 of the vbmembermap.php file.
