That seems a little pointless as he's going to start over from scratch?

I really liked this idea as it, but I'll hold out until the "new" version is released and see if it's what I need.

So many bugs...
Uninstalled

STT 04-04-2007 08:29 AM

How disappointing - I read this thread from start to finish and was getting excited at what looked like a great hack - until I got to the end when it seemed that people were uninstalling it due to bugs :(

Keep up the good work Jan, I have faith in you. What's the current state of play - are you indeed starting from scratch on a new system, or given up on this blog/diary idea for a while?

I suddenly get the errer "no Datamanager" when posting a new blog...but the message is posted..raar

Also...when I post several blog entries all is fine and looking good. But when I delete all blogs and leave 1,..then it looks like a regular forum post. So when I try to add another blog it is just a forum post. It doesn't give me the possibility to enter a password or use an image for the blog. I checked the forum and it somehow jumped back to Forum type (default, diary or blog): Default Forum

__________________________________________________ _

Oke, here a summary of the bugs that I encountered with the BLOG. Hoping that it might help you Jaap fixing these bugs one day if more people have these bugs :)
  1. Error message "no datamanager" when posting a new blog with Weblog Thumnail
BUT the post appears in the blogforum. Posting a blog with or without password is no problem.
  2. Forum type (default, diary or blog) switches back to Default Forumwhen deleting a blogpost.
  3. When posting a 'quick reply' in a existing blogpost I get the error:

Fatal error: Class 'vB_DataManager_blog' not found in /home/eikwijt/domains/mijneikwijt.nl/public_html/forum/includes/functions_diarycomment.php on line 206
  4. When I post an empty 'quick reply' in a blogpost then an empty popup popuppes. But when I post an empty 'reply' in a blogpost then the popup contains the reason why it popuppes.
  5. When posting a 'reply' no error encounters
  6. When I hide a blogpost, I can not tell which one I hided as admin. This blogpost isn't marked or anything, nothing says to me which blogpost is hided or soft deleted.

Am I the only one with these bugs?

i have the same problem

tuslic 04-19-2007 06:59 AM

damn looks like this mod is a lost cause

-unistalled

anyother blog mods?

Flexo 04-22-2007 02:06 PM

I have two questions:
Are the bugs going to be a problem if I'm not interested in comments? I just want threads that noone else can post in.

Secondly: what kind of database changes is this mod using? Will it create new tables or will it change existing ones?

Just a quick question................I'm getting a fatal error when adding a comment to a blog and here is error Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: vb_datamanager_blog in /home/......../public_html/forum/includes/functions_diarycomment.php on line 206

Any help would be greatly appreciated................vb 3.6.2

Kauka

scan-pa 05-25-2007 11:22 PM

That is the error that has yet to be fixed, remember this is a beta product, strongly recomended not to use on a live / public site.

kauka 05-25-2007 11:39 PM

thanks i uninstalled it

chatzworld 05-28-2007 04:32 PM

That is the error that has yet to be worked on or fixed in this beta.

RVM 05-29-2007 05:37 AM

How do I instal this? There is no read me file or instructions. Can you tell i'm new lol.

Thanks in advance!

RVM 05-29-2007 09:39 AM

Ok I figured out most of it! :D I have a few questions though!

I need to know if the stuff in the includes folder gets uploaded into the includes folder already on my site? (I did this just guessing lol)

I got everything working except that when I click on my blog to view it, I get a database error message "database has encountered a problem." and I cannot view my blog.

I see no difference between the blog feature and the diary except the name?

I do not see the features I wanted that I saw on another vbulletin site (this blog setup is the actually only reason why I bought a vbulletin). I want this drop down menu & features. This is how it looks:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/05/2.gif

And it also has an option to make it a photo blog:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/05/3.gif

Thanks in advance!

TuRKMeN 06-20-2007 09:48 AM

installed thanks;)

ktaylor 07-01-2007 11:45 PM

Everything seems to work fine except for this:

Quote:

2) on upload image "no datamanager" error (vb 3.6.7)
Has anyone found a fix to this?

0tolerance 07-25-2007 10:17 AM

any news of when you are going to finish this off and bring it out of beta stage?

periphrastic 09-22-2007 01:43 AM

great idea

status of un-beta-ing this?

andor 09-23-2007 09:02 AM

seems to be working with earlier versions of vB, but not latest. I'm getting:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: vb_datamanager_blog

Pity - this offered what vBlog didn't which is permission control on blogs per user/usergroup

bummer

HIVEDesigner 10-17-2007 06:20 PM

The only issue that I have with this is that you cannot reply to a blog entry.

Maybe it's something in my site, or if it's a well known bug, I'm not too sure. If there's a fix, please reply within.

deltagsm 10-29-2007 10:58 AM

if i try to post some comment to some diary/blog post, alway view this message :

Code:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: vb_datamanager_blog in /home2/my dir/public_html/includes/functions_diarycomment.php on line 206

how to fix this error.....????

ktaylor 10-31-2007 06:29 AM

I still can't use the blog version of this because of it not being able to find uploaded images....

but the other thing i'm wondering is if there's a way to change the date on the diary blogs? it constantly says 31, December and i'm not sure how to change that.

tillcat5 11-06-2007 10:02 PM

it worked fine when i installed but will not allow replies.. any suggestions

jamesk 11-08-2007 04:39 PM

i installed this on a clean 3.6.8 pc1 site today.

i immediately got this error when attempting to submit first blog (thread):

it either 1) didn't run the v1.2 install part of the xml or 2) erred on or before that point in the xml product installation. unfortunately you had db errors turned off.

update: confirmed #2 above:

also, attempted to manually create the table:

Quote:

CREATE TABLE `diarycomments` (

`commentid` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT ,
`threadid` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL ,
`postid` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`parentid` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`username` varchar( 100 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
`userid` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`title` varchar( 250 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
`dateline` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`pagetext` mediumtext,
`allowsmilie` smallint( 6 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`showsignature` smallint( 6 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`ipaddress` char( 15 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
`iconid` smallint( 5 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`visible` smallint( 6 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`attach` smallint( 5 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`infraction` smallint( 5 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`reportthreadid` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
PRIMARY KEY ( `commentid` ) ,
KEY `userid` ( `userid` ) ,
KEY `postid` ( `postid` , `userid` ) ,
KEY `threadid` ( `threadid` ) ,
FULLTEXT KEY `title` ( `title` , `pagetext` )
)

MySQL said:

#1214 - The used table type doesn't support FULLTEXT indexes
update: notes i found claim fulltext only works with MyISAM and not innoDB. i am using mysql 5 so i like the innoDB for speed and scalability. guess i will have to get a different product.

secondly, @ HIVEDesigner, the intro description clearly states that the "diary" can only have enties by the thread creater; there is no "comment" capability.

forumrunt 11-25-2007 04:08 AM

any way to show a link to the blog in the profile?

I guess I'll have to remove this until it's fixed. Great mod though as long as you don't try and use attachments.

I'm having the same issue and will also have to uninstall. Oh well.

ktaylor 12-30-2007 02:30 PM

I've got the same problem with the replies now too... didn't have that before and i'm running 3.6.7

the comment box is really small/short and it doesn't allow you to click into it.

not sure why/what changed?

Santharian 12-30-2007 08:40 PM

Great hack. But is there anyway to show the diary entries on the users profile?
