You folks do realize that Mystics doesn't support this hack and he hasn't posted here for a long time.

johnstires 11-06-2006 04:17 PM

Can someone help me understand why my moderation column does not work for any forums unless they are using the thread prefix?

MrD 11-08-2006 09:01 AM

Hi,
have anyone fixed the Bug with the search ?

firstrebel 11-10-2006 03:45 PM

I have upgraded my 3.6.2 test site to 3.6.3 and have just tried to reinstall this. When I ran /prefixinstall.php and started with the file changes I got a strange result as you will see in the attachment. The replacement text is missing.

Has anyone else found this.

Or....is this an IE7 issue as I have recently upgraded that.

Bob

MrD 11-15-2006 04:04 PM

Hi,
i think it´s a Problem of IE7

blankoboy 11-17-2006 01:54 AM

I would really like to install this hack on my 3.6.3 board with GARS but after seeing how many issues people are having I am somewhat apprehensive.

Mystics, any chance you will come back into the fold and update/support this hack? Please atleast let us know either way. :)

* Also, does anyone know if the prefixes used in vbulletin.org are generated using this hack or perhaps some other?

4yBak 11-19-2006 03:26 PM

Bug: If in forum ID, where turned on this hack, thread not have thread prefix so... when we browse main forum page (home page) we can see at column Last post this thread name + prefix from first thread in forum. Thread without prefix are sticky and for this thread on forum home page will add prefix from first thread in this forum that have prefix. So, on main page this hack add prefix, but currently this thread doesn't have prefix.

Future suggestions:
1) add AJAX prefix change when browse forumdisplay.php (like we can change thread title with mouse double click)
2) store all prefix names in DB. And if we rename one prefix this changes will automatically apply for all threads that have this prefix
3) ability to customize which prefixes can be used/displayed for which forums ID. It's need for faster page loading. For example: I have around 50 prefixes, but at some forum ID I will use just 2-3 prefixes and other prefixes not needed. At this moment, this hack display all prefixes and it's increase page size and page loading.

PS: I'll be happy if it be done in one of future versions of this hack :) If not, I'll must uninstall this hack and do this prefixes manually :(

chuanguyen2000 11-20-2006 01:10 AM

problem when i install, there no step 4 and 5 below,

4. New templates:
threadprefix_listbit
threadprefix_modify

5. New phrases:
Too many to list them all - they will be created automatically while importing the xml file

blankoboy 11-20-2006 02:10 PM

Any of you hoping to see this mod officially to vbulletin, please come over here and cast a vote!

I find this mod to be of such great use to vbulletin forums that I am saddened to see it is not being updated nor supported any longer. I wish the VB team would take it under their wing and integrate it into VB.

SwissPegasus 11-21-2006 09:01 AM

A few days ago i update to VB 3.6.3. So i try to update also the prefix hack.
- Uploading the files is no problem.
- Install the Product.xml is also no problem.

But running the install script abort with the following error:

Code:

Warnung: main(): Unable to access /var/www/web0/html/vbTest/Admincp/prefixinstall_text.php in /admincp/prefixinstall.php (Zeile 21)

Warnung: main(/var/www/web0/html/vbTest/Admincp/prefixinstall_text.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /admincp/prefixinstall.php (Zeile 21)

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/var/www/web0/html/vbTest/Admincp/prefixinstall_text.php' (include_path='.') in /var/www/web0/html/vbTest/admincp/prefixinstall.php on line 21

I figure out the path is not correct.

Wrong: /var/www/web0/html/vbTest/Admincp/prefixinstall_text.php
Right: /var/www/web0/html/vbTest/admincp/prefixinstall_text.php

so what do i wrong?

in the config.php the admin cp Variable is setting to admincp in lower case, so where they get the uppercase?

cu
SwissPegasus

Edit: So, now i edit the prefixinstall.php, hardcode the path and now works.

lilfields10 11-21-2006 02:54 PM

Can you set an image as a prefix? Similar to Something Awful?

Edit: nevermind, they just use the icons.

Genjuro-Sensei 11-21-2006 08:34 PM

Hello,

This some kinda feature request:

- Prefixe groupe based: i mean only certain groupe may select certain prefixes.
- Per-prefixe HTML tag: i mean eatch prefixe with specific HTML tag for (ex: color) ex: red "Problem" green for "Solved"...etc

when i was in phpBB i have a mod installed with this features, so i'm wandering if u could do this

Thx a lot !!

DaNIEL MeNTED 11-22-2006 12:48 PM

It there going to be any support for this mod?

thedvs 11-25-2006 11:45 AM

Works great for v3.6.4, no problems at all.

Already possible when changing prefixes via forumdispplay.php.

[_] Have Prefixes in alphabetical order
(Prefix Number will be ignored)

[o]Ascending [o]Descending

when i submit the form it resets >_<

The prefixes will be ordered and stored in the database. So it's normal that this form always shows the default options.

blankoboy 11-27-2006 02:54 AM

Mystics, is the current version of this hack compatible with the 3.6.4 release of VB? I have been seeing posts from some saying it works with no problems on their board while others are saying the complete opposite. I realize of course there is quite a diversity of configurations and user skill level so it's hard to take anyone's word.

Can you say either way if it is fully compatible with 3.6.4 or if an update is pending? Also, any word on whether this hack may get integrated into the 'officially' VB product down the road? Thanks and keep up the great work! :)

SpankMe 11-27-2006 06:04 AM

I did a clean install on vB 3.6.4 then installed this mod and the search by prefix still doesn't work.

This is the type of post I'm referring (is it not fully compatible or perhaps the installation was not fully correct, etc?). Unfortunately, not being able to implement this hack is the major roadblock for me launching my site.

*Is this very forum (vbulletin.org) using Mystics's prefix hack or their own version?

the reason is, that some of the files/lines have been moved from vB you just have to do a little foot work yourself. it is working you have my promise on that. I'm using it on 3.6.4

Thanks for the reply GNDI! Glad to hear that, any chance that someone might document the necessary changes so any of us having problems can hop aboard the prefix loving train too? :D

SpankMe 11-27-2006 11:57 PM

Putting
PHP Code:

'threadprefix'   => TYPE_STR,
'prefixoverride' => TYPE_STR

under
PHP Code:

$globals = array(

'query'          => TYPE_STR

in search.php seems to fix the search by prefix problem.

picardtux 11-30-2006 05:26 PM

many thx

Amenadiel 12-02-2006 02:01 AM

Installed.

Hope to see a version that can auto edit templates... I was very afraid to break something when editing the templates and files lol.

Is this the only change that needs to be done to make this hack fully compaitible with version 3.6.4? Can Mystics confirm on this by any chance? :classic:

Rabbitoh Warren 12-08-2006 02:04 AM

Thanks for the mod, quite easy to install and easy to configure exactly to my liking. Would prefer to be able to set global prefixes instead of the forum-by-forum basis but I'll live with it. :)

It seems my only problem post-install of this mod is that the text/links for my similiar threads on the showthreads page are now blank. I don't need the prefixes to appear there, so any chance of getting the code I need to restore it to previous functionality?

Lyte 12-12-2006 10:00 PM

NEVER mind... ;)

I figured it out. lol :alien:

Thanks!

Hello All,

I'd like to know few points before installing :

- is it possible for Admin to change prefix if poster was wrong?
- or is it possible to let this hack used only by Admin (but seen by all users)?
- what happens if there is already a sticky prefix for sticky threads? Does Mystics prefix stand before or after the sticky one? (in case of no use of column, of course)

And finally, would it be hard to implement a default "Prefixed threads" button (or something about) in the navbar in order to display all these in one click while arriving on the board?

Thank you for your help.

itsid 12-19-2006 10:26 PM

Hi Limerick,

1) Sure every Mod can change the prefix if necessary
2) That just doesn't make any sense ;) I'm afraid, you can deactivate the prefixes per forum, but not per usergroup
3) before

and finally:
in fact I don't think this is very easy, according to the changes you've made there will be differnet sets of prefixes for every forum.
You can filter searchresults by prefix, but you'll have to have a searchterm too.
To just find every thread just with a prefix would be a sql query with a huge result if not filtered by forum or searchterm or user or...

If you want to find threads with a prefix from admin control panel maybe my small add-on will help (see first-post)
but for users.... that one's useless

Limerick 12-20-2006 06:17 PM

Hi Sid,

Thanks for your answer.

1) Ok, great.
2) That makes sense to me (or to my board, to be more accurate). In fact, it belongs to me to decide what prefix to set before thread title. It would be a way to define a thread "in course", "solved", "important", etc...
3) Humm... after would have been better...

4) (And finally... ;) ) I would need all these prefixed thread (or some of them, by type), to be pinned at the top of the forumhome (plus to their own forum). I thought I've seen a board somewhere which had such feature... but I don't remember where...

I'm going to see your add-on, :)

Thank you anyway.

100% fine...are you able to use the 'search' function and select prefixes? Did you have to do anything special other than install the hack to get it to work?

dc pringle 01-15-2007 03:44 AM

I already have this installed on my board and have added another skin to the board.

Should i 'update', reinstall or just do some template modifications to the new skin?

If just the template modifications.. what should i do? :)

PixelFx 01-18-2007 05:40 PM

I'm slowly intergrating this with gars, having hell of a time trying to get "Post New Release" section to show prefix code, however got the rest of it working with rss so far. Taken me a few weeks on and off to get this far. For the sticky threads, its just a spacer missing, I haven't fixed it yet my self, but I'll post some code changes once I do have it working.

:D
