I have a problem with the positioning of my drop down menus. See the attachment.
To enable the new design of the forum to mirror the website I have had to add the following to the css: Code:
.page |
I understand how to add an additional nav bar but how do you add a drop down link that acts like the quick links and also how do you make the nav bar appear at the top of the login box? The original one is always at the bottom and I've seen it sandwiched between two nav bars.
Thanks |
I have install this it works fine but its just text that drops down no background image like on the quicklinks menu, is this the way it should be ??

Hi,
I am new to vb and I just got 3.8 - Is it still the same process or is there any chances? Thanks |
Yes, it's the same
ONe question I have: How can I add a drop down menu to the new drop down menu? |
Thanks Kerry-Anne. Very Useful tutorial.

Thanks! Code:

well... after hours of screwing around with this... i've given up
even copying and pasting everything word for word in the exact location it still isn't working on 3.8.0.... guess i'll have to find a different way to do this |

I works for me in 3.8 by choosing second instance of "<if condition="$show['popups']">" instead of the first instance, as explained in article.

Is it possible to do this with IMAGE LINKS instead of text links?
As well... could I do this in the "HEADER" template, instead of the navbar template? |
I make second line at the top of navbar and this worked for me, but I have this problem:
http://smages.com/i/66/fe/66fe2bb1f4...0256c2a518.png Drop Down Menu is not near the link in navbar. Why this can be? |
Is it somehow possible to make these drop-down menus dependent on which sub-forum is being viewed? So that the links in the menu are different for different sub-forums.

I got the working almost perfectly, but... on existing dropdowns like search, or quicklinks, the dropdown menu aligns with the left of the link. However on the new dropdown menu that I added, the dropdown appears further to the left of the link, like its centered under the left side of the link. What can I do about this?

in forum i have FAQ how to make it FAQ/Rule ?

I found this good little article regarding how to add a drop down to your navbar. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/newre...ote=1&p=769703
I've used this tutorial to create a new drop down on my navbar, It does appear on the navbar, however, when clicking on the menu, the drop down appears on the left side of the cell, rather than the center, like my other drop downs. I can't seem to find the correct verbiage to resolve this. I'd appreciate any direction. here are the relevant bits. Code:
<td id="mypopupmenu" class="vbmenu_control"><a href="#mypopupmenu">MENU TITLE</a><script type="text/javascript"> vbmenu_register("mypopupmenu"); </script></td> Code:
<!-- mypopupmenu --> |
Thanks for the heads up that the first part of the template edit is in the SECOND instance not the FIRST. I'd have never figured it out without that nugget. It was driving me crazy!
Installed, looking very nice. Great template mod... |
works great thanks

Hey, i've just followed this guide - I added the relevant code to the navbar template except for the last part with the divs, which I added to the header template (have to in my skin as that's where my actual navbar is located).
header template; Code:
<!-- vB Skin Zone - Seasons 3.7.0 - 1.0.0 --> |
And this is the navbar template
Code:
<br /> |
Can you highlight in red the stuff you added? I don't know what your templates used to look like so I can't tell what you added.
|
I've just highlighted the stuff I added in red, as per the original guide.
|
Bump! :)
|
You've got a customized navbar and so you can't just follow the directions exactly. You should take a look at the default navbar and see what these directions are trying to tell you to do and then apply that to your custom one. Or, ask your skin designer to help you with this.

I'm not seeing the drop down menu on my forum. I have a slightly modified navbar template. I created a 2nd row (right under the default navbar). I'm trying to insert it in there and its a no-go.
I'm trying to follow the way some of the default dropdowns are working (ie. Community) and its still not working. Not sure what I'm doing wrong..... Let me know if you want me to post my template here, if you have a minute to look thru it |
Did you know there is a modification to add a second navbar?
Probably, if you need help with your navbar and the drop-down, the best place to post the code is in the main forums where more people will see it and be able to help. It's also easier to keep all your stuff in your own thread rather than have others posting their problems also in this thread. Don't forget to use the code/html/php tags when posting code. |

Most styles that I have seen that have the navbar moved to the header template have left the dropdown part of the menus in the navbar template. |
Ok, sorry for bumping this thread and I feel kinda stupid asking for help because it shouldn't be very hard. I've followed the instructions to a T, read all the replies here, and still no luck - I can't get anything to show up! Website is http://truestreetcars.com using 3.8.2. Any help is appreciated. :) Current navbar template:
