Paul, thanks for a great Hack

Can you please tell me how to show it at the bottom of the forum. I am new to VB so some instructions would be really helpful

my site is http://www.qatardeals.com/forum/

Thanks

Paul M 12-29-2006 11:34 AM

This is not designed to be shown anywhere other than on a seperate page (as supplied).

Thanks Paul M ...

Installed

is it possible that u can make this hack for Top reporter too ?? that would be great i think .

Terminatoronly 12-29-2006 03:30 PM

yeah thats a good idea mecho because this will let the members report more because admins and mods cant see every thing in the site its hard to do this we have many many threads so its hard i wish that paul can make it because he is my favourite coder all of his hacks are the best ;)

A small update today adds an option for the auto-added link, this can now be in Quick Links, or the Navbar, or Disabled (meaning you will have to add a link in your forum manually).

KURTZ 01-02-2007 11:49 AM

ok Paul thx ;)

obvioulsy updated!

edit: only a Q: why i dont receive any mail for these updates?

kdemonte 01-02-2007 12:39 PM

Mine didn't automatically add to the nav or quicklinks like I enabled. How do I manually add the link in there? (yeah total newbie here, sorry)

storpappa 01-02-2007 12:52 PM

I actually have the same question - the auto add did not work, but going to the link http://gamegeekspeak.com/forums/misc.php?do=topposters
Shows the page.

If somoen can post it here, or a link to it in the site elsewehere - how do we manually add links to the QLinks or navbar?

Ha;py New Year!

kdemonte 01-02-2007 12:54 PM

Mine actually has an error too, now that I manually opened the page an found it:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.4:

Any ideas how I fix this? Thanks for your help!

You both have customised navbars, so the link add will fail. By the same reasoning I cannot tell you exactly how to edit your styles. You need to add a link to misc.php?do=topposters is all I can really tell you.

You appear to have no usergroups specified in the Top Posters > Included User Groups setting (vbulletin options).

kdemonte 01-02-2007 06:32 PM

Thank you.. I uninstalled, reinstalled, everything went fine. Just asking the temmplate designer how to manually add the link now, but it did go automatically into my default template..as you said it would LOL!

Evil Dave 01-03-2007 12:22 AM

I installed this, but I have a Custom Template. How do I get the top posters page to come up??

I am not seeing anything. How do I link it on a custom template?

Thanks for helping the newbie!!

Please see post #132.

Tefra 01-03-2007 05:14 PM

Installed thanks!

Paul M 01-12-2007 08:11 AM

v3.27 - fixed the table index creation - the index was not being created on install - on larger forums this will speed up the queries this runs.

storpappa 01-12-2007 11:32 AM

Updated - thanks

ncangler 01-12-2007 07:07 PM

Thanks for this. I installed for the first time and it did create the quick link but nothing shows up at my sites address: http://www.ncangler.com/forums/misc.php?do=topposters
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I do have a custom Navbar template, but it added the Quick Link and the address looks correct.

ncangler 01-12-2007 07:16 PM

Okay I got it. I need to revert the templates to make it work. :) One caviat though. The automatic script creates the link www.mysite.com/misc.php?do=topposters and my forum location is actually www.mysite.com/forums/misc.php?do=topposters
I know I can go in and manually add the /forums but was wondering if there was something I could do to allow the automatic script to handle it. Thanks for this mod!

Mum 01-12-2007 07:23 PM

Wow, my first install of a product and it's wonderful! Thanks :)

ncangler 01-12-2007 07:35 PM

The Navbar Quick Link works when in the forums page but from any CMPS page the menu link does not include the "/forums" path. I thought adding "misc.php" to the CMPS Navbar replacements would take care of it but it doesn't. Does anyone else have an idea how to make this work with the CMPS navigation in Quick Links? Thanks for any help.

jw00dy 01-12-2007 09:53 PM

Thanks Paul (Updated)

It won't work with CMPS unless you manually edit the plugin - replacing misc.php with /forum/misc.php

ncangler 01-13-2007 10:06 AM

Thank you for the reply Paul and for this mod. I hate to be so dense but which file do I need to edit to add the path to misc.php?

ncangler 01-13-2007 10:09 AM

Oh wait, it is the .xml file itself right? (Add "/forums/" to lines 100 and 105?) And then reinstall it?

ncangler 01-13-2007 10:34 AM

I also added it on line 235. I then reinstalled the plugin and it worked like a charm. Thank you! Sorry for all the posts. :)

encryption 01-17-2007 05:14 PM

apologies for I have not gone through the last 10 pages to see if the question was asked (and answered).

but is it possible to display who are the top posters and thread starters in a particular forum ??

Paul M 01-17-2007 11:00 PM

No, that is not possible with this.

Paul M 01-19-2007 08:29 AM

Version 3.29 has had the usergroups option enhanced - you can choose to include or exclude the list of usergroups (or include all usergroups).

KURTZ 01-19-2007 01:43 PM

UPDATED!

Snake 01-19-2007 11:14 PM

Just updated!

Chadi 01-25-2007 03:00 AM

How do I remove the link from the quick links menu where it was inserted automatically?

Paul M 01-25-2007 04:56 AM

Just disable the option.

Thechipleaders 01-25-2007 03:43 PM

ok it's installed

However, when I do the auto link for my navbar it does not work. I am also using CMPS and it does not show up there either. I read the earlier post about changing the code for it but I still have the problem with both navbars.

I'm using zoints on my site as well and using option to put "my blog" link in navbar. However, I clicked that option off and still no top posters link. Other then that I have not done any direct customization.

any suggestions????

Paul M 01-25-2007 06:17 PM

If you use a custom style then the chances are it will fail, you will have to add a link manually.

Thechipleaders 01-25-2007 11:11 PM

yep I certainly did use a custom style.

Ok, will do

thanks

Exitilus 01-25-2007 11:34 PM

Any chance of seeing a feature that will remove non-active users from the list ?

Paul M 01-26-2007 03:19 AM

Nope, not much chance of that.

You could always move your inactive users to a custom usergroup and exclude that group.

TroyTrojansFan 01-28-2007 12:18 AM

Well, I downloaded the zipfile, unzipped it, used the product manager to add the mod, but it is not working. Did I leave out a step? I installed it yesterday. Also, I'm very new to computers, so if I've skipped an obvious step, please advise. Thanks.
