Just put that line at the very top of your template header, it should work there too. Let us know if not.

how would I make this work for the Admincp?

Yes Im very curious too.. Theres only one image in the admincp and modcp I know of... |
well, the ACP logo of coarse, because i like the effect so much, I want to use it in other places too.
|
Glad you like it. For static images like the ACP logo, you are better off rendering the effect in a graphic editor. (Or just use the reflection.js files and making it work in an "offline" web page, then take a screenshot.) Basically, save it as a GIF or JPEG with the reflection instead. That way you don't need to mess with changing the ACP or invoking javascript on that page.
The point of this mod is that is reflects "on the fly" avatars and images, which are constantly changing on your forum. There'd be no way to do it otherwise. |
Is there a way to make a check box in say the vb options page in the usercp to enable/disable this feature?
Im gonna have a look and see if i can make it work for me using some modz if not a bit of code to do this would be cool as some people have animated avatars that can be a bit of a strain on the javascript code. :( Thanx :D |

That said, I'm sure you could whip up lots of checkboxes... AdminCP: Reflect all avatars? (perhaps make it usergroup based) AdminCP: Reflect THIS avatar? (ie: on a per user basis) Or... UserCP: Reflect MY avatar? UserCP: Reflect avatars of OTHERS? I don't have time to incorporate any of this, but if you do, it would be great if you could share it here. |
No problems thanks for the reply.. you have given me some good pointers if i come up with any additions i will let you know and be glad to share.
thanks :) |
i have setup that but all images to be that how i can fix that?

Sorry, I've read your question a few times now and have no idea what you are asking. |
Hi,
This is a wonderful modification and installed it for vB 3.6.7 on postbit_legacy. Seems like it's just working fine but reflection avatar showing a little bit left than normal avatar. You'll understand if you take a look at my attachments. How to make reflection avatar in middle like normal avatar? I'm using ForumThemes Galaxy skin. Many thanks :) |
Seems like you removed the <div align="center"> or <center>

Thank you very much. I've done it. :) |
I have couple questions.
1. I have Opera 9.21 and I have a problem with animated images. It doesn't reflect in Opera 9.21 browser. IE and Firefox works fine , but Opera not. 2. Is it possible to make this feature optinal for users. Can user choose by himself the avatar reflection? Thank you very much. |

Doesn't work at all here.
vb 3.7 neighter Opera nor Firefox Unistalled |
Sorry to hear that Stefano, but just FYI, the latest release of vBulletin is 3.6.8. Not sure how you're running 3.7. Still, the hack is working for everyone that has installed it properly on 3.6.x.
So either you didn't install it properly, or it's not compatible with some pre-release of vBulletin 3.7 wyou've got your hands on. |
Hi tralala,
I know it's very strange cuz look like I'm the only one reporting it. I just uploaded the .js file in the folder you wrote in the install instructions, then changes added the class for the reflections changing the code you wrote. Anything else to do? Thanks Stefano |
Did you do the edit to the "header" template?
Which other templates did you edit? For avatars in thread view? |
Hi,
I didn't edit the header cuz I don't need the reflection on my logo. I tried with the modifications number 2, 3 and 4 in the instructions. Nothing is changed in the forum, checked with opera and firefox. Bye Steve |
Editing the header is necessary for this hack to work (that's why it's in the instructions,) and it has nothing to do with adding a reflection to your logo.
Just follow the instructions as written, and the hack will work. |
It works man!
Me stupid :( Thank you very much! Excellent mod! Steve |
Nice, this hack is very beautiful :) thanks man ;) good job
|
This is an excelent mod, i have it on my forum for some time now, and its great.
But, today, i upgraded my personal browser firefox 2.0.0.10 and from now on, it does not work anymore on firefox! is there anyway i can make it work, not on my browser only, but in general, i thing that the automatic upgrade of firefox will be installed in more than one users of our forum. thank you again ;) |

I've confirmed this is a bug with Firefox 2.0.0.10. There's not much I can do to address it, I suspect it'll be fixed by them in 2.0.0.11. (It's working fine in a newer Mozilla nightly build: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o...14-mozilla1.8/) So... hang tight. :) |
Hi you guys.
I have installed this hack on my forum, and it looks realy nice :) But i have a little problem, when the forum loads it freeze by 3 seconds and then after the 3 seconds it works fine. I have commented the code for the script in header template , and the forum works normaly, but if i put the script in the header template it freeze by 3 seconds. What it's the problem, anyone knows? |

What browser/version/platform are you using? Does the same 3 second delay happen when you try a different browser? |
I have read all posts here and results are various, for some it worked this hack for some not.
I have installed it under two skins (one bright and one dark) and for one moment I could see the reflections. Then it was just not there and nothing was changed. I noticed that once I log out (as admin) and go see some threads the reflexion is back and every time with no problem! As soon as log back in, the reflexion disappears. I asked one moderator to check and it was the same, when logged did not see it and when logged out the reflexion was there. I followed the installation to the letter for avatars in thread view (postbit template and header). Any idea why this problem? |
hi, all

Can we get the installation instructions revised for the latest versions of vbulletin? Some of the coding has changed.
I managed to figure out postbit legacy for those of you interested... Code:
Step 3 (optional, for forums using postbit_legacy:) To add the reflection effect underneath avatars in thread view, FIND in "postbit_legacy" template: |
whould you please port it for vB 3.7.x (3.7.0) ??
or it's already created somewhere here?? |
|
Easy to add, works great. thanks.
