gio, as soon as the "make field required" option is available, I'll click 'install'. :)

photoboy 03-06-2006 06:37 PM

would it be possible to pass the information gathered by extra fields to the message itself so it could be searchable?

sportstar 03-07-2006 09:11 AM

this is a stupid question but how do i import the product?
i have tried Plugin System >> Manage Products >> Add/Import Product but I get a MySQL error. I am using 3.5.3 is this the reason?

RyanC 03-07-2006 06:07 PM

I am thinking about installing this hack, but had a question:

In your screen shots and on the thread view page, you show the extra fields in the "header" of the message. Is there anyway to put this stuff in the content area of the message?

photoboy 03-08-2006 06:09 AM

RyanC is basically asking the same thing as me, although I don't know whether it's for the same reasons.... it would be amazing to have the extra fields data show up in the content area and thus be searchable.....gio come back!

photoboy 03-08-2006 06:18 AM

how about this one: would/could/should it be possible to have the extra form fields on a reply as well a new post?

By the way, I have this plugin installed (thank you) and it's so clearly something which vBulletin should have as a default feature.

sportstar 03-08-2006 11:54 AM

ok i have upgraded to 3.5.4 but i still get this error when trying to import the product:
Code:

i cant understand what I am doing wrong and I get this error...any suggestions?

DarkWarriorXII 03-08-2006 07:38 PM

I have this installed on my forum. I installed it with the purpose of having users check a box before posting a thread in our articles forum agreeing that they wrote the article. At first I added it as a checkbox, but when I did a few test posts, I would go to edit the thread (and the post), and it would be unchecked on both. So I added the same thing as a radio button. Again, when I went to edit the thread it wouldn't be selected, even if I selected it when I submitted the post. What's wrong here?

Editing a thread: http://i2.tinypic.com/qzonlj.gif

Any advice?

this would be great, I could eliminate 2 hacks with just this one if it worked this way, I currently have thread prfix hack and prepopulated text hack working kind of lack that

on that note, does anyone know if this would/could interfere with the Thread Prefixes hack

Is it possible to apply these 'Extra Threadfields' to just a specific forum or will it be used by all forums on my board?

Thanks man, can't wait. While the forms hack is great stuff, this is much better for my purposes. :)

libertate 03-10-2006 01:44 PM

This is perfect! I have been looking for a classified system for vB, and this is it!

Keep developing it!

Can you get it so there is no direct modifications required? (Step 3. Do the edits located below)

I was thinking about that, however, the areas in which this touches is a bit sensitive and doing it so that it automatically makes those edits may be difficult for those that have custom styles.

Dennis B 03-10-2006 07:45 PM

IMHO the "all-automatic" path is problematic b/c most of us here have quite a few - if not a lot - changes to their styles, so I vote to keep it separate. :D

Exactly :p

silurius 03-11-2006 04:23 AM

Excellent hack. I've been waiting for this kind of functionality for ages, and it came in just in time!

One suggestion to help new installers: Either include the full instructions in the first/second post, or take the instructions out and refer installers to your download. I was scratching my head for a bit before I realized that the readme contained the template edits, which wasn't very clear in the first post.

Again, thank you, thank you for this one!

silurius 03-11-2006 04:33 AM

Found a conflict with First post on every page of thread hack. With this hack running and with the "Show First Post" option turned on, the first post actually disappears. Turning the "Show First Post" setting off for the forum allows the post to re-appear.

sportstar 03-11-2006 11:58 AM

gio~logist can you give me any suggestions why this won't work with my mysql version?

cruelio 03-11-2006 01:32 PM

it has an extra ; at the end of the install SQL

Any ideas? NO other plugins or products are installed. I would love to use this on the large forum I admin, but I can't get it to work on there or on my barely used forum.

Hm. That's not a major problem, it's just the fact that it's trying to do a query from a previos version, which it shouldn't be trying to do since you already have that. For now, just upload all files and then manually run the query:

Code:

ALTER TABLE threadfield_admin ADD COLUMN
  `required` varchar(10) NOT NULL default 'no';

The problem is, you renamed the field in the sql database to threadfield_admin. So the installation prozess is unable to do the update and so it fails!

So what is the correct filed name that should be updated?

Wow. Why would i do that? MAJOR typo. I will fix this now.

bashy 03-11-2006 05:53 PM

Hi

I have run the query manually....

I do not have any
Extra Fields Options
I have the add field and extra fields manager but no options part
of it, any ideas....I am going to reupload the files again, this was
ok before the update!!

EDIT: reuploading has not resolved the missing options!!
