I installed it, but it doesn't show anywhere under VBulletin Options :disappointed:
|
Hi,
Thanks very much for this useful plugin. May I suggest something ? What if we could get some more informations like : - what new username is used by the user - what IP was used by the user before and after (if different) Thanks anyway |
this is all i get on vb 3.5.3

Great hack, already caught a few :) Can anyone comment on how many queries this causes on the forums? Does it increase server load much on a large forum?
My load has gone up, but I've changed a few things, mods etc... just trying to figure out what may be causing the load increase, whether it is this or something else. Thanks |

Thanks! |
Great thing to have
Thank You :) |
If I may suggest one thing: I would love to change the phrase which is posted on every multiple login. But I can't since it is not in the phrases. Would love to see this possibility :)

A small problem. The hack doesn't generate a new thread in my specified forum when the etector is tripped. All permissions for the thread poster and forum are set so new threads can be created.
Any idea what could be wrong? |
I have it running fine with posting threads to the forum; permissions are not required in this case. Are you sure you set the forum id properly for the forum to post to?
|
Is there a way so it doesn't associate the each ip with the admin account.
How accurate is it? If it detects 6 users on one computer can there be another explenation? |
It's as accurate as the cookie system allows it to be - meaning if 6 users are using the same computer either a) one person is logging into 6 accounts or b) more than one person is using that computer to login to accounts.
We don't track IPs, although I believe a variant has been made to do just that. |
Thank you this is great stuff.

Is there a way of making the detector delete the cookies once it's been tripped? That way it would catch repeat offenders if they return to the forum.

Cool idea.. Is there a way that I can have this hack send out a notification to the dual account users with a phrazed message letting then who about there accounts with message tracking turned on? It's a pain to have to email everyone by hand. Is there a way to have the hack stop sending the same dual account warning more then once, because what is happening is that some of these dual account are OK since there are several family members using different account with one PC and everytime someone logs in I get a pm and getting flooded with them
|
Can you make the option fot it to post in one thread, I think it's easier to keep track than read every PMs separately, title of PM only show one user so we don't know what all inside until we read it

I haven't read all the posts here
but I have one HUGE problem with this hack It works fine but everytime it triggers the alarm....the offenders IP is added to my IP list now my partners are wondering if I'm running a massive account duplicating ring  pretty funny but could cause some serious trouble between staff |
A member recently tripped the detector and it made an alert thread in the specified forum. But it simply said a mutiple log-in was detected. No ip addie or mention of who the other account belonged too. Is this right?
|
Even weirder is the fact that the member who tripped the detector doesn't exist in the memberlist :S

I've had two alerted that it's shown only a single user name?

I share the same IP with every user that has ever tripped this hack.... the automatic thread is started with my username and the IP for that post is the offenders IP......thus I retain their IP on my list its pretty cut and dry Dude not a problem for me......but it could be for others |
Gunshot I have noticed the exact same thing. It isn't a problem for us but it is happening.
|
Ah, okay, I see what you are saying; I was a little confused by the "my IP list", but I see now you are talking about the "view ip addresses" of vB.
Nice to know, something I'll see if there is a workaround for. |

cool maybe even just a warning in the install file would do |
Ok, it seems to be working.
However, I logged into my test account, logged out, logged into my second test account and then logged out. It sent me the alert. However when I loggged in to the test1, then out, then test2, then out again, I did not get another alert. I logged into both back and forth several times and got nothing. Then I logged into a 3rd test account and then I got the alert. So does that mean it only alerts one time? and then after will not alert me if they are still doing it? |

Is there any way to make it so that when it makes a report, it names the other account(s) that matches?
At the moment, it only tells me that someone's account has tripped it. I then have to go looking in the ACP for ip addies to see who matches up. |
I'm not sure what you mean "the other account(s) that matches"? The text of the PM or the message posted should list all of the accounts which have been used on that computer previously.

It would be very useful to know the usergroup of the different users. By example:
... User1 (registered) and User2 (Premium) in the same PC ... Regards |

It makes a post in a pre-designated forum saying " XXX tripped the AE Login detector" then the post itself merely says Quote:
|
Milesian, make sure you have a current version installed as that is a phrase that should have been installed; this may have been from an earlier version.

For the setting "Userid of who PM sender / Alert poster", I set it to myself. I've also made for the alerts to be posted in a specific forum.
The problem is that for some reason, when it creates a new thread, it adds that user IP under my username "[Find More Users with this IP Address]". So even though I never posted using their username (or even logged into theirs), when a new thread is created for someone who was detected, their IP and username gets put under mines. Hope I sound logical. |
